Efficient Detection of Heavy Metal Lead Ions in Aqueous Media using Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE)-based Turn-on Fluorescence Sensor (Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) 기반의 Turn-On 형광센서를 이용한 수질 속 중금속 납 이온의 효율적인 검출 )

  • Lead, a heavy metal widely employed in various industries, continues to pose a threat to both human health and the environment. Therefore, the development of a sensor capable of rapidly and accurately detecting lead(II) ions in real-time at contaminated sites is crucial. In this study, we have engineered a fluorescent sensor with the ability to efficiently detect lead(II) ions under actual environmental conditions, including tap water and freshwater. The compound, tetraphenylethylene carboxylic acid derivative (TPE-COOH), exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity toward lead(II) ions in aqueous solution, where the interaction between TPE-COOH and lead(II) ions leads to its aggregation, thus triggering a fluorescence "turn-on" based on the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) mechanism. Impressively, compound TPE-COOH proficiently detects lead(II) ions within a range of 30 to 100 𝜇M in tap water and freshwater, even in the presence of various interfering substances.

Evaluation of Mobility and Safety of Operating an Overlap Phase on a Shared-Left-Turn Lane Using a Microscopic Traffic Simulation Model (미시교통시뮬레이션모형을 이용한 공용 좌회전 차로의 중첩현시운영의 이동성과 안전성 평가 연구)

  • Government agencies including the national police agency have executed diverse efforts including continuous improvements of traffic facilities and operation methods, education, enforcements in order to improve traffic operation systems; nevertheless there have been continuous criticisms on irrationality in traffic signal and road facility operation. One of the reasons may be the lack of systematic preliminary evaluations on various alternatives. However, there was no appropriate tool to evaluate the mobility and safety of thus alternatives in a systematic way. Therefore, this study proposes the systematic use of microscopic traffic simulation models as a comprehensive evaluation tool. In addition, this study verified the potential of using a microscopic traffic simulation model using the case of operating an overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane through a systematic way where the evaluation was conducted through data collection, building networks, calibrating microscopic simulation models, producing performance measures, evaluating mobility and safety, and so on. As a result, the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane showed no big difference from other operation scenarios such as leading left-turn on exclusive left turn lane in terms of mobility. However the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane decreased safety by increasing potential conflicts.

  • TPCLT(Twice Per Cycle Left-turn) operation reduces this left-turn 'spill-over' problem on an as needed basis by servicing the protected left-turn movement as a leading and a lagging left-turn. In this study, to evaluate the effectiveness of TPCLT applied to three-legged signalized intersection in Korea, the analysis was carried out using VISSIM and SSAM model analysis. The study was implemented by three cases which are TPCLT operation, non-TPCLT operation and half-cycle operation using VISSIM program. According to the 9-left-turn volume scenario, total delay and travel times of each case was analyzed by VISSIM program. The study result shows more effective applying TPCLT operaion in the present ~ +50% scenario area at the intersection in terms of total delay.

A Study on the Decision-Making Factors of Street Turn Platform (복화운송 플렛폼 사용의사 결정요인 분석에 대한 연구)

  • The Street Turn system in South Korea has been developing continuously with the advancement of information technology; however, this has not lead to an increase of the Street Turn transportation volume. As a result, this study presents the decision-making factors for using the system from the standpoint of users of the existing Street Turn transportation system. The people who have used domestic Street Turn transportation services or who are working in a shipping company were analyzed using Fuzzy-AHP. A total of five major factors and 17 detailed factors were derived from this analysis. As a result, timeliness was selected as the most important major factor, and in particular, the information provision time (0.207) was selected as the most important factor, followed by platform use process (0.079), and number of participating shippers (0.074).

A novel IGBT with improved electrical characteristics (향상된 전기적 특성을 갖는 IGBT에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we tried different two approach to improve the performance of the IGBT. The first approach is that adding N+ region beside P-base in the conventional IGBT. It can make the conventional IGBT to get faster turn-off time and lower conduction loss. The second approach is that adding P+ region on right side under gate to improve latching current of conventional IGBT. The device simulation results show improved on-state, latch-up and switching characteristics in each structure. The first one was presented lower voltage drop(3.08V) and faster turn-off time(3.4us) than that of conventional one(3.66V/3.65us). Also, second structure has higher latching current(369A/?? ) that of conventional structure. Finally, we present a novel IGBT combined the first approach with second one for improved trade-off characteristic between conduction and turn-off losses. The proposed device has better performance than conventional IGBT.

  • Oligomers with $\alpha$-aminooxy acids are reported to form very stable turn and helix structures, and they are supposed to be useful peptidomimetics for drug design. A recent report suggested that homochiral oxa-peptides form a strong eight-member-ring structure by a hydrogen bond between adjacent aminooxy-acid residues in a $CDCl_3$ solution. In order to design an $\alpha$-MSH analog with a stable turn conformation, we synthesized four tetramers and one pentamer, based on $\alpha$-MSH sequence, and determined the solution structures of the molecules by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy and simulated annealing calculations. The solution conformations of the three peptidomimetic molecules (TLV, TDV, and TLL) in DMSO-$d_6$ contain a stable 7-membered-ring structure that is similar to a $\gamma$-turn in normal peptides. Newly-designed tetramer TDF and pentamer PDF have a ball-type rigid structure that is induced by strong hydrogen bonds between adjacent amide protons and carbonyl oxygens. In conclusion, the aminooxy acids, easily prepared from natural or unnatural amino acids, can be employed to prepare peptidomimetic analogues with well-defined turn structures for pharmaceutical interest.

  • This paper proposes a novel soft-switched auxiliary resonant circuit to provide a Zero-Voltage-Transition at turn-on for a conventional PWM boost converter in a PFC application. The proposed auxiliary circuit enables a main switch of the boost converter to turn on under a zero voltage switching condition and simultaneously achieves both soft-switched turn-on and turn-off. Moreover, for the purpose of an intelligent multi-chip power module fabrication, the proposed circuit is designed to satisfy several design constraints including space saving, low cost, and easy fabrication. As a result, the circuit is easily realized by a low rated MOSFET and a small inductor. Detail operation and the circuit waveform are theoretically explained and then simulation and experimental results are provided based on a 1.8 kW prototype PFC converter in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

Traffic Volume Criteria for Roundabouts Based on Left-Turn Ratio (좌회전 비율에 따른 회전교차로 전환기준 교통량 산정)

  • All roundabouts are designed based on "Roundabout Design Guideline, Ministry of Land and Transportation, 2014" in Korea. The guideline also provides the traffic volume criteria to convert from signalized intersections to roundabouts. While the criteria are based on capacity of roundabouts, left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches are not considered to calculate the capacity of roundabouts. Therefore it is difficult to apply the traffic volume criteria in the real world. In this study, we studied the impact of left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches into capacity of roundabouts using micro-simulation. It was found that the capacity of roundabouts is changed according to left-turn ratio and the number of lane on approaches.

  • The shorted-turn sensor for generator's field winding has been developed. The sensor, installed in the generator air-gap, senses the slot leakage flux of field winding and produces a voltage waveform proportional to the rate of change of the flux. For identification of reliability for sensor, a shorted-turn test was performed at the Seoinchon & Sininchon combined cycle power plant on gas turbine generator. This sensor will be used as a detecting of shorted-turn for generator's field winding.

  • In this thesis, based on Genetic Algorithm, a new route search algorithm is presented to search an optimal route between the origin and the destination in intelligent route guidance systems in order to minimize the route traveling time. The proposed algorithm is effectively employed to complex road networks which have diverse turn constrains, time-delay constraints due to cross signals, and stochastic traffic volume. The algorithm is also shown to significantly promote search efficiency by changing the population size of path individuals that exist in each generation through the concept of age and lifetime to each path individual. A virtual road-traffic network with various turn constraints and traffic volume is simulated, where the suggested algorithm promptly produces not only an optimal route to minimize the route cost but also the estimated travel time for any pair of the origin and the destination, while effectively avoiding turn constraints and traffic jam.
