Modeling and Simulation of Combustion Chamber Test Facility Oxidizer Supply System (연소기 연소시험설비 산화제 공급시스템 해석)

  • The propulsion system of space launch vehicle generates thrust by supplying oxidizer and fuel to combustion chamber. KSLV-II 2nd stage engine, currently under development by KARI, is to use liquid oxygen as a oxidizer and JET-A1 as a fuel. The 2nd stage pump-fed engine is mainly composed of combustion chamber, turbo-pump and engine supply system. To develop liquid propulsion engine, the development of combustion chamber must be preceded. For performance validation of the combustion chamber, the designed and manufactured combustion chamber should be tested in combustion chamber test facility (CCTF). The detailed design for the planned CCTF in Naro Space Center was conducted. The oxidizer supply system modeling using AMESim was performed based on the results of the detailed design, and the oxidizer supply characteristics was analyzed in this paper.

  • In recent, there are tremendous requirements to improve the fuel economy of vehicle. For satisfaction of requirements, Hybrid Electric Vehicle or other technologies are suggested and implemented. However, it should be noted that almost 35% energy loss is occurred in the shape of exhaust gas as ever. For increase the efficiency of vehicle, it is certain that the exhaust gas energy should be recover, and generate energy. In previous studies, the technologies such as turbo-compound, thermoelectric and rankine cycle are suggested to recover the exhaust heat energy in vehicle. But, they focus on the conventional vehicle or parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle has advantage that the engine and drive shaft are de-coupled. It means that the engine can be operated in high efficiency area regardless with vehicle states. Therefore, if rankine cycle is applied to series hybrid electric vehicle, operating condition of that becomes almost steady. So, in this study, theoretical analysis on the efficiency of rankine cycle applied to series hybrid electric city bus is carried and the energy recovered from exhaust gas during vehicle drive cycle is calculated.

  • In this study, a 2W micro-gas turbine engine was designed using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, and experimental investigations of its potential under actual combustion conditions were performed. A micro-gas turbine (MGT) contains a turbo-charger, combustor, and generator. Compressor and turbine blades, and generator coil were manufactured using MEMS technology. The shaft was supported by a precision computer numerical control (CNC) machined static air bearing, and a permanent magnet was attached to the end of the shaft for generation. A heat transfer analysis found that the cooling effect of the air bearing and compressor was sufficient to cover the combustor's high temperature, which was verified in an actual experiment. The generator performance test showed that it can generate 2W at design rotational speed. Prototype micro-gas turbine generated maximum 1 mW electric power and lasted up to 15 minutes.

  • In this study, Hybrid Separate Learning Algorithm(SLA) consisting of Support Vector Machine(SVM) and Artificial Neural Network(ANN) has been used for developing the defect diagnostic algorithm of the aircraft turbo-shaft engine in the off-design range considering altitude variation. Although the number of teaming data and test data highly increases more than 6 times compared with those required for the design condition, the proposed defect diagnostics of gas turbine engine using SLA was verified to give the high defect classification accuracy in the off-design range considering altitude variation.

  • This paper is for the combustion characteristics of gas generator which drive 1.5MW-class turbo pump and runs in fuel-rich combustion regime with LOx/kerosene as propellant. The outline of development procedure of real scale high pressure gas generator is introduced and the relation between O/F ratio and outlet temperature and the molecular weight and specific heat ratio of combustion gas are described. The relation between O/F ratio and temperature is newly obtained at higher pressure and the molecular weight and specific heat ratio is modified and their validity is confirmed by the mass relation equation.

  • Expert system is a practical application part of the artificial intelligence and can be generally described as a computer-based system designed to simulate the knowledge and reasoning of a human expert, and to make that knowledge conveniently available to other people in a useful way. Expert systems consist of three major components, knowledge base, inference engine and user interface. In this paper, it is aimed to construct a prototype system to design the horizontal-typed pressure vessel. To do this, a representative artificial programming language, Turbo Prolog, was employed, and the knowledge representation was mainly done by the production rule such as "If(condition), than (action)" style and by the predicate logic. In the developed system, it was quite easy to represent the knowledge of "If(condition), then (action)"style and by the predicate logic.   • 희박예혼합기의 급속연소에 관한 연구를 위하여 2-실린더 가솔린 엔진을 부실 타입의 압축천연가스(CNG) 분사 엔진으로 개조하였다. 본 연구에서는 부실의 최적설계에 관심을 두고 두 종류의 부실을 적용하여 실험을 실시하였고, 부실의 체적과 홀 개수는 1.5cc와 6개로 각각 동일하게 하고, 홀 직경을 0.8mm 및 1.1mm로 달리하였다. CNG연료는 포트연료분사(Port fuel injection; PFI)와 부실분사(Sub-chamber injection; SCI)에 의해 엔진에 독립적으로 공급되고, 그 실험결과로 구한 연소압력, 평균유효압력(IMEP), 질량연소분율과 사이클변동계수(COV) 등을 서로 비교하였다. 본 연구의 대표적 실험연구결과로서 PFI 타입의 엔진연소특성은 희박예혼합기의 경우를 제외하고 모든 조건에 있어서 기존의 가솔린 엔진과 비슷하였고, SCI 타입의 엔진연소특성으로 평균유효압력은 부실 내에 불완전 예혼합기형성으로 PFI 타입보다 낮았으며, COV는 SCI 타입이 희박가연한계가 확대됨으로 인하여, 특히 높은 공기과잉률 범위에서 PFI 타입과 비교해 보다 좋은 결과를 나타내었다.

  • In this Paper, Support Vector Machine(SVM) and Artificial Neural Network(ANN) are used for developing the defect diagnostic algorithm of the aircraft turbo-shaft engine. The system that uses the ANN falls in a local minima when it learns many nonlinear data, and its classification accuracy ratio becomes low. To make up for this risk, the Separate Learning Algorithm(SLA) of ANN has been proposed by using SVM. This is the method that ANN learns selectively after discriminating the defect position by SVM, then more improved performance estimation can be obtained than using ANN only. The proposed SLA can make the higher classification accuracy by decreasing the nonlinearity of the massive data during the training procedure.
