The objective of this study was to verify the effects of brand equity of small & medium hospitals on trust and relationship commitment and mediation effect of trust in the relation between brand equity and relationship commitment. For testing reliability and validity of the measurement tool, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ and confirmatory factor analysis was used, respectively. A structural equation model was applied for verifying the study model suggested. Out of 450 questionnaires distributed, 439 was returned. On the study results, brand image and perceived quality positively determined trust of customers for small & medium hospitals. Customers' trust also has a positive effect on relationship commitment. Brand awareness positively influence the levels of relationship commitment. Moreover, a mediation effect was identified. Customers' trust mediated the effects of brand image and perceived quality on relationship commitment of hospitals customers. On conclusions, relationship commitment was determined, either directly or indirectly, by brand image and perceived quality, while trust mediated the their relationship. Thus, hospitals management may use the concepts of brand equity and trust as a key success factor of their business purposes.
Trust is formed from the day-to-day and persistent interaction relationship. The trust demands more and more at the age of uncertainty. Human beings are using media interaction. The area of communication with media is extended to virtual space. The purpose of this study is to qualitatively explain trust building process in virtual team by media using. In the pursuit of this purpose, we executed in-depth interview with the person who have experience communicating by media with a man of a complete stranger. They experienced the trust building process. Interview data were analyzed by a Structured Coding Techniques. The derived seven categories were reconstructed in consideration of the cause-and-effect relationship and the flow of events. We have discovered a new trust model that was the result from communication by a media using. The model presented is very useful to Individuals who need a new trust building relationship with stranger or virtual team member.
Trust-based solutions provide some form of payment to peers to encourage good behavior. The problem with trust management systems is that they require prior knowledge to work. In other words, peers are vulnerable to attack if they do not have knowledge or correct knowledge of other peers in a trust management system. Therefore, considering only trust is inadequate when a decision is made to identify the best set of peers to utilize. In order to solve the problem, we propose a distributed decision-making mechanism for wireless peer-to-peer (P2P) networks based on game theory and relevant trust mechanisms in which we incorporate the element of trust and risk into a single model. The main idea of our mechanism is to use utility function to express the relationship between benefits and costs of peers, and then make the decision based on expected utility as well as risk attitude in a fully distributed fashion. The unique feature of our mechanism is that it not only helps a peer to select its partners, but also mitigates vulnerabilities in trust-based mechanisms. Through analysis and experiments, we believe our approach is useful for peers to make the decision regarding who to interact with. In addition, it is also a good starting point for exploring tradeoffs among risk, trust and utility.
With the proliferation of electronic commerce, online transactions have become a norm. Its enormous potential, however, can be truly realized if consumers feel comfortable facing invisible sellers over the Internet, a virtual business channel. Trust has been identified as a key component in many e-Commerce studies. The purpose of this study is to find out which factors play a major role in building buyer trust and how the build-up trust affects buyer's purchase intention in online used car transactions. Based on the information asymmetry, TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), and the trust theory, our research model includes factors such as a buyer's propensity-to-trust, institutional characteristics (inspection and warranty policy), word-of-mouth referral, perceived size, and perceived benefits as independent variables. The model also includes trust as a mediate variable, purchase intention as a dependent variable, and perceived quality risk as a moderate variable. The research model is tested by analyzing 448 sample data gathered from used car websites. The result shows that the trust has significant effects on the online purchase intention, and institutional characteristics have been identified as one of the most significant factors for trust building in used car websites. For those who perceive quality risk high, actual purchasing behavior occurs only when they have trust on the used car websites, indicating that trust plays a vital role as a mediate variable. This study suggests that buyer trust on the used car websites is important to increase buyer's online purchase behavior.
Growth in the outsourcing market signals that firms of all sizes believe outsourcing will ultimately deliver many benefits and conveniences. But there are not many firms satisfied with the results of outsourcing. What is more, previous researches were fragmentary analyses focused on specific variables of outsourcing such as sourcing decisions, partnership rather than comprehensive analysis. Thus, they could not propose general systematic methodologies applicable to the real situation. To solve these problems, we developed an integrated theoretical framework that considered both contract with the hard side and trust with the soft side from a contingency viewpoint and tested this model using 143 data of Korean companies executing outsourcing. In addition, we examined how situational factors(outsourcing task complexity and outsourcing management competence) affects each path in the research model. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was proved the theory that trust is not a substitute for contract but its complement. Previous empirical studies on outsourcing success factors were focused on the establishment of successful partnership on the assumption that trust can replace contract in many situations. According to the results of our empirical analysis, however, contract and trust were in a mutually complementary relation with each other and their emphasis was different. Furthermore, different from previous researches, it was found effective to use trust as a supplementary tool and contract as a main means in outsourcing management strategy. Second, this study provided an integrated view that sees both contract and trust from a contingency viewpoint in theoretically reestablishing the relationship between contract and trust. Previous researches leaned to specific variables or theory-centered fragmentary analysis, but this study proposed a more practical and integrated research model and tested its effectiveness. Based on the results, with the model, decision makers are expected to scrutinize outsourcing situation more closely and to have a practical insight to the situation. Third, it was found that contract mechanism and trust building do not have a direct effect on outsourcing performance but relationship management intensity mediates the effect of contract mechanism and trust building. This is considered significantly meaningful to outsourcing partners who have believed that outsourcing would be successful if a contract is made properly or trust is built. Lastly, the path from trust building to relationship management intensity was moderated by informed buying, as the path coefficients from trust building to relationship management intensity varied by the degree of informed buying competence.
In trust-based networks, it is very important how to decide a node is trustworthy when one node performs communications with other node. In current networks based on trust, a node creates a new trust value from observation and then establishes an intercommunication path through the process of evaluating a targeted communication node. In our paper, we propose four trust models in which a new node enters a cluster and finds a target node to create a communication in ad-hoc networks. The proposed models have been classified according to the existence of reputation server and the trust evaluation functions. Through the proposed model, we found that new node finds target node more quickly in which there exists a reputation server in the cluster and considers neighbor node's recommendation as well as own experience information when calculates trust values. As our performance analysis, we focus the communication delay time to generate a final trust value for each trust model.

Recently, the need to be wary of internal access such as internal access as well as external attackers' access to work has increased due to network expansion, cloud infrastructure expansion, and changes in working patterns due to COVID-19 situations. For this reason, a new network security model called Zero Trust is drawing attention. Zero Trust has a key principle that a trusted network does not exist, and in order to be allowed access, it must be authenticated first, and data resources can only be accessed by authenticated users and authenticated devices. In this paper, we will explain these zero trust and zero trust architectures and examine new security application strategies applicable to various companies using zero trust and the process of building a new security system based on the zero trust architecture model.
Nowadays, online shopping has become popular among consumers. As such, gaining loyal online shopping customers has become a rising concern for online shopping vendors. In this study, we investigated the hierarchical relationships among Lewicki and Bunker's three different types of trust, namely, calculus-based trust, knowledge-based trust, and identification-based trust, in the context of online shopping and their impacts on customer satisfaction and loyalty. A total of 104 responses from online shopping users were analyzed to test the proposed model and its hypotheses using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results showed that, in the online environment, hierarchical relationships between different types of trust exist and that, among them, knowledge-based trust has the strongest impact on customer satisfaction. This finding implied that practitioners should focus on developing appropriate online strategies for building trust-based relationships with online customers.
Purpose - Many studies show that dissatisfied customers are silent rather than expressing complaints directly to firms. Although silent voices are pervasive in service failure, they have received little attention from researchers. Silence implies a multidimensional nature, not just the opposite of voice. This study focuses on two types of silent students in higher education: acquiescent silence and defensive silence. This study also proposes cognitive trust and affective trust as variables affecting student silence. The objective of this study is to analyse the effects of trust types on student silence and exit intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To test the proposed model, this study conducted a survey with undergraduate students who selected silence in a dissatisfied relationship with a professor. Respondents were asked to respond to the questionnaire, recalling the dissatisfaction at that time. A total of 300 students was surveyed from whom 275 completed questionnaires was obtained. The structural equation model analysis was used for the hypothesis test. Results - First, cognitive trust was negatively related to acquiescent and defensive silence. Second, affective trust was negatively related to acquiescent and defensive silence. Third, cognitive trust was negatively exit intention, but affective trust didn't significantly reduce exit intention. Forth, acquiescent silence was positively related to exit intention, but defensive silence didn't have a significant positive impact on exit intention. Thus, a key result of this analysis was that acquiescent silence enhances exit intention. Conclusions - The findings of the study provide a better understanding of the types of silence, and the role of trust, thus furthering the implication of student reactions to dissatisfaction. In particular, this study is meaningful in that it confirms the value of student silence in the context of complaint management. Acquiescent silence should be more importantly managed because it has stronger negative motive than defensive silence. Acquiescent silence is reduced through various channels(mail, telephone, counseling) that can express complaints. Cognitive trust and affective trust are a essential factors in reducing silence. Also, in explaining exit intention, cognitive trust plays a more important role than affective trust.
As a new alternative to cash and credit-cards, mobile payment has been attracting world's attention. Although fin-tech, a mobile payment system provider, has been a rising issue, mobile payment systems is not yet widely used domestically. Because trust is the most important element in revitalizing the mobile payment system, we hoped to develop a hierarchical trust model to analyze the multi-dimensional trust factor. In this study, surveys were conducted to identify the components that affect the overall trust of a mobile payment system. It has been concluded that cognitive trust, affective trust, trust in system quality affect the overall trust of the system, and this trust affects the continuance intention of users.
