데이터 분할방식의 NVOD에 패칭을 결합한 참 VOD 서비스의 제안 (A Proposal for a True VOD Service Combining Patching with a Data Segmented NVOD)

  • NVOD의 초기 대기시간을 없애는 방법으로 패칭이라는 방법이 있었다. 그 방법은 시간 분할의 NVOD 서비스에만 적용이 가능하였다. 그러나 데이터 분할의 NVOD 방식이 시간 분할의 NVOD 보다 대기 시간이 작거나 서버의 대역폭을 적게 사용하는 것으로 알려져 있어서, 패칭을 데이터 분할의 NVOD에 적용하면 보다 효율적인 서비스가 가능할 것이라 예상된다. 그러나 그러한 시도는 아직 없었다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 분할 NVOD에 패칭을 결합하여 시간분할 보다 더 적은 대역폭을 사용하면서 초기 대기시간을 없게 하여 참 VOD 서비스가 가능한 새로운 VOD 스케쥴링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 또한 패칭에 의 한 클라이언트의 버퍼링에 필요한 스토리지 부담 요소를 NVOD 스케줄링의 데이터 분할 정책에 흡수해 클라이언트 자원의 추가 부담 없이 참 VOD 서비스가 가능하도록 해 클라이언트의 자원 제약이 있는 경우에도 적용 가능하다.

  • 최근 저전력 고속 디지털 데이터 통신을 구현 하기위해 많은 기술들이 개발되고 있는 추세이며 듀티사이클 보정에 관련된 기술도 그중 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 전압제어 링 발전기용 저-면적 듀티사이클 보정 회로를 제안하였다. 듀티사이클 보정 회로는 전압제어 링 발진기의 180도 위상차이를 이용하여 듀티사이클을 보정하는 회로이며, 제안된 저-면적 듀티사이클 회로는 기존의 플립플롭을 TSPC(True Single Phase Clocking) 플립플롭으로 변경하여 회로를 구성하였고 이로 인하여 저-면적 고성능 회로를 구현하였다. 일반적인 플립플롭을 대신하여 TSPC플립플롭을 사용하여 기존 회로 대비 저-면적으로 회로 구현이 가능하며 고속 동작에 용이하여 저-전력용 고성능 회로에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 의학, 게임분야에서 활용되는 하드웨어 기반의 난수 발생기에 관한 것이다. 인텔은 하드웨어 기반 실난수 발생기의 보안성에 대한 가이드라인을 제시한 바 있다. 주로 존슨 열 잡음원을 사용하며, 듀얼 오실레이터나 폰 노이만 수집기를 적용하고 있다. 하드웨어 기반의 난수 발생기는 NIST 통계검정, FIPS140-1을 포함한 다양한 테스트 유형을 적용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 하드웨어 잡음원의 출력열에 필터링 기법 영향으로부터 난수성 변화 정도를 측정하였다.

  • 최근 한국사회의 생활양식(lifestyle)은 매우 다양하다. 왜나하면 각종 정보통신분야의 눈부신 발전은 마케팅 믹스(Marketing Mix)에서 중요한 촉진수단으로 제시되고 있다. 마케팅의 궁극적인 목적은 가치를 창출하고 의사소통과 전달, 이해관계자(interests group)들에게 효용을 주는 방향으로 전개되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 촉진수단으로 등장한 다양한 마케팅 트렌드와 라이프스타일에 대한 문헌 고찰을 실시하여 향후 연구방향에 도움이 되고자 한다.

  • Nowadays, many robots have evolved to imitate human social skills such that sociable interaction with humans is possible. Socially interactive robots require abilities different from that of conventional robots. For instance, human-robot interactions are accompanied by emotion similar to human-human interactions. Robot emotional expression is thus very important for humans. This is particularly true for facial expressions, which play an important role in communication amongst other non-verbal forms. In this paper, we introduce a method of creating lifelike facial expressions in robots using variation of affect values which consist of the robot's emotions based on emotional boundaries. The proposed method was examined by experiments of two facial robot simulators.

  • It is simply not true that anyone who can speak English can teach it. Language teaching is both a science and an art; its methods are based on a theoretical foundation and implemented by techniques. However, at a time like the present, when the scientific justification for our methods seems to be uncertain, we should concern ourselves less with theory and more with developing techniques that work with our students. The success of language teaching must be evaluated by the effectiveness of the techniques used. The purpose of the present study is to suggest some useful techniques that the teacher can utilize in teaching English as a foreign language in the elementary school. The techniques suggested are based on the investigation of the characteristics peculiar to children. The investigation takes into account cognitive, affective, and linguistic factors affecting specific techniques. The goal of language teaching is communication and all techniques should move toward this end. The resourceful teacher will provide techniques which exact more and more from the students and less and less from the teacher.

  • The modern play is going through a change that is differentiating it from the plays of yesterday. The importance of narration through language, specifically that of words spoken on stage as a means of communication is being replaced by images and minimalism of words. The narration that depended on spoken words today depends more on the images that are conjured on stage. This movement shows also the very development of stage and its craft in the domain of theater and especially holds true in the avant-garde theaters of today. The avant-garde theater, in trying to duplicate the reality does not confine itself to oratory rhetorics that we see in the traditional plays of the past but expresses itself by mimicking the reality to the utmost possible.

낙상 감지 폰의 개발과 낙상판단 알고리즘 (Development of a Collapse-sensing Phone and Collapse Recognition Algorithm)

  • To deal with the emergency of the solitary aged people, we have developed a collapse-sensing phone, in which a collapse sensor, a GPS receiving chipset and a CDMA sending chipset are included. The general cellular phone is somewhat expensive communication device using sound and characters, but the collapse-sensing phone is a cheaper and popular version. If the collapse sensor recognizes a certain of collapse of the aged people, CDMA sending chipset will send the location of the phone which is received from satellite by GPS receiving chipset. In this paper, a collapse recognition algorithm which is developed by using much experimental data, will be introduced to explain how to recognize the real collapse from fast sitting or immediate standing after collapse. Once a true collapse is ecognized, the phone-ID and the coordinate will be sent to the server of administrative office via CDMA network. And the position of emergency will be displayed on the GIS with the rescue center.

  • In the conventional systems, a human must have knowledge of machines and of their special language in communicating with machines. In one side, it is desirable for a human but in another side, it is true that achieving it is very elaborate and is also a significant cause of human error. To reduce this sort of human load, an intelligent man-machine interface is desirable to exist between a human operator and machines to be operated. In the ordinary human communication, not only linguistic information but also visual information is effective, compensating for each others defect. From this viewpoint, problem of translating verbal expressions to some visual image is discussed here in this paper. The location relation between any two objects in a visual scene is a key in translating verbal information to visual information, as is the case in Fig.l. The present translation system advances in knowledge with experience. It consists of Japanese Language processing, image processing, and Japanese-scene translation functions.

  • The subject collects information and constructs the outside world mainly through the sense of sight, though he cannot help but always see things from the viewpoint of the self-aware ego. While we are able to access the unconscious of which the latent desire is reflected in involuntary images and dream images, the substance of desire cannot be easily accessed due to the censorship of the ego and the super-ego, which makes images of the unconscious nonlinear, and allows us to pursue fantasies for pleasure. The original human desire to record and express visual objects has come true with technological fulfillments, and furthermore, digital technology has realized visual pleasure and desire, through simulation. The images that the unconscious produces and the images that digital technology produces are a visualization of objects by the subject's desire, and the subject realizes his pleasure through a visual fantasy. This study, based on the mechanism of the unconscious and the formal stamps of digital images, explores the interrelationship between the unconscious and digital images, both of which seek pleasure and desire.
