  • The ABB-CE System-80 reactor power cutback system(RPCS) is designed to enable continuous operation of the reactor without trip in the events of the loss of one of the two main feedwater pumps and loss of load, and thus improves plant availability in a cost effective manner. In this study expansion of RPCS has been investigated for continuous reactor operation without trip in the event of an inward control element assembly(CEA) deviation including a single rod drop. Under the expanded function of RPCS the control system will provide a rapid core power reduction on demand by releasing CEAs to drop into the core and reduce the turbine power, if necessary, to follow the reactor power variation. This design feature which is included as the new design features to be incorporated in the ABB-CE System-80+ meets the EPRI advanced light water reactor(ALWR) requirements. For this study core analysis models of System-80+ have been developed to simulate the nuclear steam supply system(NSSS) response as well as the RPCS initiation of rapid CEA insertion. The results of this study demonstrate that the reactor trip can be avoided in the event of inward CEA deviation including a single rod drop by the RPCS initiation and thus the plant availability and capacity factor would be increased.

  • In this paper, we propose a synthesis method of software fault tree from software requirements specification written in NuSCR formal specification language. The software fault tree, proposed in this paper, reflects requirements on both structure and behavior and it is an integrated form. The software fault tree can be used for analyzing safety in the view of structure and behavior. We propose templates for each components in NuSCR specification language and a synthesis method of software fault tree using the templates. The research was applied into the main trip logic of the reactor protection system of ARP1400, the Korean next generation nuclear reactor system, developed by KNICS. And we evaluate feasibility of our approach through this case study.

  • The TFRC is a congestion control mechanism which supports the requirements of video streaming applications and controls its sending rate by using the information such as loss event rate and RTT (round-trip time). However, TFRC has a performance degradation in wireless networks because it performs congestion control by judging all the losses occurred in wireless network as a congestion signal. In this paper, we propose new loss discrimination mechanism which is using ECN in order to solve the performance degradation of TFRC. Through the results of simulation, we proved that the proposed mechanism can improve the performance of TFRC.

  • As the regulation and assessment program for safety of passengers become stringent, automakers are required to develop lighter and safer vehicles. In order to fulfill both requirements which conflict with each other, automobile and steel companies have proposed the application of AHSS(Advance High Strength Steel) such as DP, TRIP and martensite steel. ULSAB-AVC model is one of the most remarkable reactions to offer solutions with the use of steel for the challenge to improve simultaneously the fuel efficiency, passenger safety, vehicle performance and affordability. This paper is concerned with the crash analysis of ULSAB-AVC model according to the US-SINCAP in order to compare the effectiveness between the model with AHSS and that with conventional steels. The crashworthiness is investigated by comparing the deformed shape of the cabin room, the energy absorption characteristics and the intrusion velocity of a car.

  • With the progress and prosperity of commerce and industry, time and money increasingly form an equal partnership. Using air carriers to shorten the round-trip time has become an important choice for many people in the tourism process. Faced with increasing competition within the aviation service environment, airline evaluation criteria and the requirements of customers are gradually dominating the evaluation mechanism for air transport service quality. Over the past few years, attention on the transport quality of service has been primarily focused more on land-based transport, and less on the relevant evaluation criteria of airlines. Many studies have shown that quality of service will directly affect customer satisfaction, resulting in the fact that good quality aviation services have become increasingly important. Therefore, in practical industrial operations with limited resources, there is an urgent need to delve into the assessment guidelines that have an impact on customers when they choose an airline, which can be used as a basis for improving customer satisfaction. Through a literature review and a reliability and validity analysis, this study summarized 19 evaluation criteria, using the purposive sampling method and the decision laboratory method (DEMATEL). In addition, this study viewed the causal relationship between the evaluation criteria and the degree of association as a continuing project for airlines. This study selected appropriate empirical samples from two domestic airlines. The conclusions may provide recommendations for all airlines.

  • $M^2LFR-1000$ is a medium-power modular lead-cooled fast reactor, developed by University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), aiming at achieving a reactor design fulfilling the Gen IV nuclear system requirements and meanwhile emphasizing the optimum safety and economics. In order to evaluate the safety performance of $M^2LFR-1000$ reactor core, three typical transients are selected from initiating events, which are unprotected transient overpower (UTOP), unprotected loss of offsite power (ULOHS+ULOF) and increase of feedwater flowrate with primary pumps trip (IFW+PLOF). These three transients presented and discussed in this paper are performed with the code Analysis of THermal-hydraulics of LEaks and Transients (ATHLET), which is developed by Gesellschaft $f{\ddot{u}}r$ Anlagen-und Reaktorsicherheit gGmbH (GRS). The results indicate that the $M^2LFR$ is safe enough under these three transients due to the good inherent safety features of the reactor, without human intervention, the reactor will reach a new steady state under UTOP condition.

  • The Korean government concentrates on supplying public transit facilities for the mobility handicapped. In other hands, increasing needs of transfer information when the mobility handicapped use transit facilities are substantial but not satisfactory as a whole. This study focuses on evaluating the applicability of developed K-path algorithm to provide user-customized route information that could make an active using of public transit while considering the mobility handicapped preferences. Developed algorithm reflects on requirements considering transfer attributes of the mobility handicapped. Trip attributes of the handicapped are addressed distinguished from handicapped types such as transfer walking time, transfer ratio, facility preferences and etc. This study examines the verification and application of the proposed algorithm that searches the least time K-paths by testing on actual subway networks in Seoul metropolitan areas. It is shown that the K-path algorithm is good enough to provide paths that meet the needs of the mobility handicapped and to be adoptable for the future expansion.

  • The requirements of the NGA are to provide broader bandwidth, higher splitting ratio, and longer reach than those of the current FTTH. In the TDMA PON accounting for large percentage in the total FTTH, the increase in distance between the OLT and the ONU leads to the increase in propagation delay and in packet delay three times more than the propagation delay. It is because a packet arrived in the ONU is handled through bandwidth request, grant, and transmission. To reduce the increased packet delay, the OLT have to reduce the cycle time. However, it will cause increased overhead and reduced link efficiency. In this paper, we investigate several problems in TDMA PON when the subscriber access network extended to 60 or 100 Km reach as a NGA goal and provide a method that determines an optimal cycle time to satisfy QoS for delay sensitive traffics. In particular, we suggest a variable equalized round trip delay method and a variable cycle time method. It is shown that the former reduces the packet delay and the latter increase the link efficiency.

  • The key features of 5G mobile communications recently commercialized can be represented by High Data Rate, Connection Density and Low Latency, of which the features most distinct from the existing 4G will be low Latency, which will be the foundation for various new service offerings. AR and self-driving technologies are being considered as services that utilize these features, and 5G Network Latency is also being discussed in related standards. However, it is true that the discussion of E2E Latency from a service perspective is much lacking. The final goal to achieve low Latency at 5G is to achieve 1ms of air interface based on RTD, which can be done through Ultra-reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC) through Rel-16 in early 20 years, and further network parity through Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is also being studied. In addition to 5G network-related factors, the overall 5G E2E Latency also includes link/equipment Latency on the path between the 5G network and the IDC server for service delivery, and the Processing Latency for service processing within the mobile app and server. Meanwhile, it is also necessary to study detailed service requirements by separating Latency for initial setup of service and Latency for continuous service. In this paper, the following three factors were reviewed for initial setup of service. First, the experiment and analysis presented the impact on Latency on the Latency in the case of 1 Data Lake Setup, 2 CRDX On/Off for efficient power, and finally 3H/O on Latency. Through this, we expect Low Latency to contribute to the service requirements and planning associated with Latency in the initial setup of the required services.
