  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze dental records performed through a dental hygiene process and provide basic data on clinical training education for dental hygienists. Methods : The dental hygiene records of 440 senior dental hygiene students in Y University from March 2005 to September 2008, were examined. The needs of the clients confirmed by the dental hygiene diagnosis was based on Human Need Theory. The client's needs and the number of visits were analyzed according to the general characteristics(gender, age). The contents of the dental hygiene implementation performed according to the needs were divided into dental hygiene care and oral health education. The dental hygiene evaluation was classified into 'Met of Goal', 'Partially Met of Goal', and 'Unmet of Goal' according to the dental hygiene diagnosis. Data analysis was performed for the Frequency statistics and a Fisher's exact test using SPSS 12.0K for Windows. Results : 1. The clients were mostly aged in their 20's(307 clients). 2. The dental hygiene care usually performed was 'Scaling' and 'Recommendation to visit a dental clinic', and the education performed was 'How to brush teeth'. The implementation result from the need to Freedom of Stress was as simple as 'Be careful when treating' and 'Explanation of medical treatment and tools'. 3. The dental hygiene evaluation showed a higher met rate in the field of education than in that of the dental hygiene care. The reason for unmet the goal was 'Lack of the client's efforts and they didn't visit dental clinic'. Conclusions : The search for a range of clients for dental hygiene process should be made through effective connections between the local community institutions and schools. • Cultivation of competent manpower is recognized as one of the important factors in the development of fisheries as well as of other industries. For reference to the development of education of fisheries high schools in the Republic of Korea, the author carried out a study on the education in Japan. The reason is why the education on fisheries had been initiated in Japan and her educational system has played the role of a model for neighboring countries. Even though the education on fisheries tends to shrink a little in recent years by diffusing the unwilling tendency to engage in 3D (dirty, difficult and dangerous) jobs, there are fifty-one high schools educating fisheries in Japan. Thirty-eight of them are specialized fisheries high schools and the others are comprehensive high schools to put common course and fisheries course together. In the first step of study, the goal of education on fisheries, organization of department and arrangement of curriculum are analysed. 1. In the newly arranged curriculum which will come into effect from 1994, the goal of education on fisheries is set up as "By educating fundamental knowledge and technology on the production and circulation in the field of fisheries, have students understand the significance and role of fisheries, and so cultivate ability and active attitude to the development of fisheries". The goal means that the circulation of fishery products are regarded as important as the production itself, and active attitude to the development of fisheries is also stressed, different from the present goal. 2. Standard departments directed by the Government are set up as five-Departments of Marine Fishing, of Fisheries Engineering, of Information Communication, of Fish Culture, of Sea Foods. But they are actually organized and named by the founders of schools-local government. Then there are many unique-named departments and the management of schools are somewhat flexible according to the situation of local district. 3. Special subjects are revised to twenty-four in the new curriculum from twenty-two in the present curriculum. Among them the contents are widely revised in the subjects such as Introduction to Fisheries, Fisheries Engineering, Communication Engineering, Communication Technology, Fish Culture. On the other hand, five subjects such as Information Treatment on Fisheries, Information Technology on Fisheries, Subjective Study, Fisheries Economics, Circulation of Sea Foods are newly set up to meet the changing phase of the time.

  • The goal of this research was evaluating and suggesting the solution of preventing carbonation of concrete replaced high-volume of slag. The concrete mixtures were prepared with high-volume slag and recycled aggregate, and the concrete samples were evaluated the carbonation depth with various surface treatment methods. For various surface treatment methods and surface protecting sheets, bonding strength and carbonation depth were measured. Basically, from the results, the carbonation of concrete was completely prevented with any type of surface treatment method and surface protecting sheet as far as the surface treatment materials were remained. Therefore, in this research, it was known and suggested that the easiness of handling and sufficient bonding performance was much important than the quality of surface protecting sheets.

  • In radiation therapy, the effects of radiation are decided total dose, total treatment times and number of radiation dose fractions. We considered that total dose, total treatment times and number of radiation dose fractions in intensity modulation radiation therapy(IMRT) infuence tumor cell killing. The goal of three dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3DCRT) in radiation therapy is to conform the partial distribution of the prescribed radiation dose to the precise 3D configuration of the tumor, and at the same time, to minimize the dose to the surrounding normal tissues. To optimize treatment volume of tumor, treatment volume will be same tumor volume. All IMRT compare to conventional treatment plus boost IMRT when total dose irradiated 75 - 90 Gy. Because of biological effect, total dose are decreased 12.5 - l5Gy in all IMRT.

  • Virtual Reality (VR) is a new technology that enables humans to communicate with a computer, It allows the user to see, hear, fuel and interact in a three-dimensional virtual world created graphically. Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT), based on this sophisticated technology, has been recently used in the treatment of subjects diagnosed with acrophobia. Acrophobia is a disorder that is characterized by marked anxiety upon exposure to heights, avoidance of heights, and a resulting impairment in functioning. Conventional virtual reality systems for the treatment of acrophobia have limitations, such as overly expensive devices or somewhat unrealistic graphic scenes. The goal of this study is to develop an inexpensive and more realistic virtual environment in which to perform an exposure therapy fur acrophobia. It runs on a personal computer, and a virtual scene ova bunge-jump tower in the middle of a large city. The virtual scenario includes an open tin surrounded by props beside a tower, which allows the patient to feel a sense of heights. The effectiveness of the VR environment was evaluated through the clinical treatment of a subject who was suffering from the fear of heights. Based on pre- and post- questionnaires and subjective comments from the subject. This virtual reality environment proved to be an effective and realistic tool fur the treatment of acrophobia.

  • Practice parameters for non-pharmacological treatment of children and adolescents with pervasive developmental disorders are based on the scientific literature for evidence-based practices. Appropriate educational and behavioral interventions are important in improving the long-term outcome in pervasive developmental disorders. Early and sustained intervention appears to be particularly important. The goal for interventions is to gain pragmatic skills for verbal communication, playing with peers, daily living routines, self-management, and social adaptation. Appropriate involvement and collaboration with parents and family are essential for well-functioning intervention programs. The life-long nature of autism implies that the clinician should maintain an active role in long-term treatment planning and family support. Vocational training and training for more independent living are important for adolescents with autism. Professionals should be knowledgeable about local and national resources and opportunities for family support as well as support of the individual.

  • The main goal of periodontal treatment is the long-term maintenance of teeth. Periodic maintenance program is need to prevent periodontal disease and maintain healthy periodontium. Hirschfeld and Wasserman(1978) studied 600 treated periodontal patients. This study categorized periodontal patients using well-maintained, downhill, extreme downhill groups. The purpose of our study is to evaluate effect of periodontal treatment and analyse tooth loss after periodontal treatment using this classification. The study population of j9 patients had been treated and maintained for mean 5.8 years. All patients were on a periodic maintenance program at 2-, 3-, 4, or 6-month intends. The avenge age of the patients at the time of original therapy was 49.6 years. To analyse tooth loss, modified classification was used on the basis of response to therapy using by Hirschfeld and Wasserman in 1978. The results were as follows : 1. 59 treated patients were lost mean 1.42 teeth per patient for 5.8 years of maintenance period. 2. Maxillary first molars were most frequently lost but mandibular lateral incisors were lost no tooth during maintenance period. 3. Tooth mortality received surgical treatment had similar to received nonsurgical treatment. 4. Tooth loss was more frequent in maxillary teeth than mandibular teeth, and posterior teeth than anterior teeth, and more frequent tendency in male than female.

  • The intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is believed to be on of the best treatment techniques for the goal of radiation therapy: to irradiate fatal dose to tumor region while minimizing dose to critical organs. It is essential to have comprehensive quality assurance program to assure the precision and the accuracy of the treatment due to the characteristic of the IMRT. The quality assurance technique for the Corvus treatment planning system was developed and its effectiveness was tested with the treatment planning of H&N region. Acrylic phantom, film and ionization chamber were used for this study, the discrepancy between the treatment planning and the film measurements showed 0.03 cm and 0.28 cm for the 90% of isodose line in each directions. Dose measurements showed 1% and 1.2% differences for ionization chamber and TLD, respectively. This concluded that the system can be used for clinic.

  • The aim of this study was to optimize a solid solution treatment for a high pressure die casting Al-10Si-0.3Mg-0.6Mn alloy to avoid blistering and to improve the strength of the alloy. To achieve this goal, the number density of the blisters and the strength of the alloy under various solid solution treatment (SST) conditions were evaluated. The SST was performed at 470, 490, 510 and 530℃ for 20, 60, 120, 240 and 480 min on the alloy. The number density of the blisters increased with the increasing temperature and time of the SST and the defect area fraction. The yield strength of the alloy after the T6 heat treatment increased with the increasing SST temperature and time. Based on the results, it is suggested that SST should be performed at 510℃ within 60 min. or at 470 and 490℃ within 240 min. to avoid blistering and to improve the strength.

  • Bruxism is a much-discussed clinical issue in dentistry. Although bruxism is not a life-threatening disorder, it can influence the quality of human life, especially through dental problems, such as, frequent fractures of dental restorations and pain in the orofacial region. This research has a goal to investigate the diagnostic methods of bruxism, to provide an appropriate information about various treatment in clinical situation, and to evaluate the effect and the usefulness of those methods. There is no certain remedy for bruxism that is a technically efficient and definitely reliable diagnosis and treatment. So, the primary purpose is to prevent the oral and maxilofacial tissue injuries from bruxism and to relieve the pain and symptom. Therefore, Combining various reversible treatments together, such as behavior modification, Oral appliances therapy and physiotherapy, is recommended. For a bruxism treatment in dental field, more researches about the factors influencing on diagnosis and cure are necessary.
