Auto-Bending Manufacturing System for Boiler Tubes (보일러 튜브 자동벤딩 생산시스템 개발)

  • This system is the automatic boiler tube bending equipment which has four heads for bending the tube and the carriage for moving the tube. The system consists of two frames for transporting each moving parts, high-frequency heating equipment for heating the tube in hot bending, control panel for inputting the job data operating, remote control unit for concetration and distribution of input/output, and the monitoring system which can establish unmanned operationby receiving the bending job data via LAN form a design teamwhich produces the job data and schedule based on master production plan and diagnoses bending data change, input, whole system status, and system malfunctions. By employing this system, 30% of production improvement was achieved was achieved comparing to the existing bending system.

A Study on Applicability of RFID System for C-Hook Identification (C-Hook 인식을 위한 RFID 시스템의 적용 가능성에 대한 연구)

  • C-Hook is a kind of conveyer system for transporting steel coil in POSCO. To detect the current position and the trajectory of steel coils in a plant, C-Hooks are tracked by an inspection system based on PLC. The inspection system detects transit of C-Hooks by monitoring a physical contact between steel bars on a C-Hook and the inspection sensors. However, this system is not reliable because of the abrasion, damage and aging. Moreover, the number of distinguishable C-Hooks is limited by the number of combination of steel bars on a C-Hook. It means that more steel bars should be installed for distinguishing the more C-Hooks. Therefore, the conventional system is difficult and expensive to maintain. To overcome these problems, we propose a C-Hook identification system that uses RFID which is a non-contact type identification system, and evaluate its performance and applicability from a new monitoring program that operates along with the conventional system in the real environment of POSCO.

  • Metro serves more than a basic function of transporting passengers between short distances but became a crucial part of civic culture due to the fact that citizens demand various facilities for better life style. Therefore, domestic metro cuts off train noise and air dust, provides pleasant platform surroundings by offering effective HVAC, and establishes PSD (Platform Screen Door) system to prevent falls into train tracks. To control and interlock EMU Door and PSD to avoid passenger complaint and revenue service obstructions, stability and reliability of on-board & wayside equipment are required foremost and each line needs to build optimum interface between on-board & wayside equipment. To control PSD, we would like to introduce examples of Busan Metro(BTC : Busan Transportation Corporation) which already utilizes interface between on-board & wayside equipment in various ways and consider optimum interface between on-board & wayside equipment in future PSD system.

  • Recently, the need for transporting and manipulating minute amount of fluids in microscale channels (so-called micro-fluidics) has been increasing, especially in biotechnology and biochemical processing. This work demonstrates that the so-called mechano-chemical process which consists of mechanical abrasive action combined with chemical process can be used to f뮤ricate micro-fluidic channels more rapidly and cost effectively than other methods. In this work, capillary filling of fluids in micro-channels was investigated by theoretical approaches and experiments. From the experimental results, it is expected that a complex micro-fluidic system can be fabricated using the micro-fabrication technique and microsystem packaging method described in this work.

  • The important role of canal is moving goods and the canals from all over the world has contributed much to method of transporting goods. But, the canal system accounts rfor 25% of the total moving goods. One of its main goals is to reduce overland transportation costs were 30% more expensive than moving goods over water. We plan to build a Korea inland canal system and need to from a scheme of building a multi canal. We should consider positive aspect of this plan, on the other hand a study of the conal's environmental impact is required prior to beginning any construction. Finally, offer our opinion on the vision of Korea inland canal that aspect5 of national land development.

  • In this study the heat transfer and fluid flow of the molten pool in stationary gas tungsten arc welding using argon shielding gas were investigated. Transporting phenomena from the welding arc to the base material surface, such as current density, heat flux, arc pressure and shear stress acting on the weld pool surface, were taken from the simulation results of the corresponding welding arc. Various driving forces for the weld pool convection were considered, self-induced electromagnetic, surface tension, buoyancy, and impinging plasma arc forces. Furthermore, the effect of surface depression due to the arc pressure acting on the molten pool surface was considered. Because fusion boundary has a curved and unknown shape during welding, a boundary-fitted coordinate system was adopted to precisely describe the boundary for the momentum equation. The numerical model was applied to AISI 304 stainless steel and compared with the experimental results.

In our former work, a decentralized control system for transporting a single object by multiple nonholonomic mobile robots has been developed.   • In manufacturing sites that process and produce parts in large quantities for the automotive and electronics industries, users require the reducing of costs and shortened delivery times. To meet these demands, an increase in the number of processes and an decrease in assembly times need to be addressed. Gantry loaders currently on the market in Korea are mostly used for processing lightweight and simple shapes and are not suitable for conveying and processing complex shapes such as automobile engines and aircraft parts. This makes it difficult to mount the material in place. This study aims to smoothen the transportation of complex shapes through the development of jigs and various approaches in the installation of the feed shaft by researching the gantry loader system for transporting multiple materials with complex shapes.

  • Thermal spraying onto the metal substrate has been widely used as a technique of the surface treatment in the various industrial field. A wide range of thermal spray technologies exist and all rely on the fundamental process of fusing a metal feedstock, atomizing it and transporting it to the surface of a substrate. Specially, these methods have been taken into account as the protection method against the corrosion. In this study, the polarization characteristics were carried out on the thermal sprayed coating layer immersed in various pH of diluted aqueous solutions at $25^{\circ}C$. Aluminum, Zinc, Ni-base alloy, alumina and polyethylene powder were used with sprayed coating materials. From the polarization curves, the electrochemical corrosion potential($E_{corr}$) and the corrosion current density($I_{corr}$) were investigated.

  • The goal of crane control system is transporting heavy objects to a target position as fast as possible without rope oscillation. This paper presents a GA-based fuzzy logic controller for crane system. GA is going to decide membership functions, instead of an expert. In this paper, The centers and widths of the membership function of the fuzzy sets defined over the input space, the orders and parameters of subsystems in the consequence parts are adjusted by a genetic algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation.
