  • A reciprocating compressor unit with variable rotating speed driven by BLDC motor is mounted inside hermetic chamber on an internal suspension composed of 4 coil springs and a discharge pipe. A method for predicting the dynamic behavior of compressor frame is required to reduce the transmitted vibration level. Mechanical characteristics such as mass, spring and discharge pipe stiffness properties are obtained with experimentation. To confirm the vibration model for compressor frame, free vibration analyses are performed with theoretical and experimental methods. Results for analytical and experimental investigations on dynamic behavior of the compressor frame are presented, and the agreement between measured and predicted results are satisfactory.

  • This study is about the design and analysis ot a suspension damper for truck driver's seat to improve the ride comfort. Trucks are usually subjected to hostile driving environments. Therefore, many truck driver's seat have suspension seats to isolate the vibration from the cab floor panel. Because the vehicle suspension system can reduce the primary vibration from the ground, only low frequency vibration can be transmitted to the driver's seat. But, this low frequency vibration can be harmful to the driver. The seat damper is very critical element to improve the ride comfort for the driver. In this study, a four-stage damper is designed and analyzed for the vibration capability. The damping coefficient of this damper can lie manually controlled in response to the road and driving environment.

  • This paper presents the design of an active vibration suppression controller for an air-spring type vibration isolation table. Firstly, isolation system model is constructed considering the isolation table, attached equipment and voice-coil actuator. An active control system is designed based on frequency-shaped sliding mode control theory rewarding high frequency uncertainties with respect to attached equipments on the isolation table. Finally. the performance of the active isolation system is evaluated by simulation under some disturbance conditions which are transmitted from base structure of the isolation system.

  • Emission of ultrasonic vibration to turbulent flow promotes the turbulence generation due to the resonantly oscillating pressure field and thereby induced cavitation. In addition, ultrasonic vibration is well transmitted through water and not dissipated easily so that the micro-bubbles involved in the fluid induce the gaseous cavitation if the bubbles are resonated with the ultrasonic field. In the present study, we found through LDV measurement that the gaseous cavitation induced by ultrasonic vibration to CO$_2$saturated water flow in the rectangular cross-sectioned straight duct enhances turbulence much more than the case of non-ultrasonic or normal ultrasonic conditions without gaseous cavitation. We also found that the fluctuating velocity component induced by emitting the ultrasonic vibration in normal direction of a rectangular channel flow can be redistributed to stream-wise component by the agitation of gaseous cavitation.

  • As customer's demand for vehicle comfort is getting increased, vibration problem is very important issue in vehicle development. Engine is the main factor causing vehicle vibration, so that we should isolate detrimental transmitted excitation from engine. In order to solve this problem engine mounting system was properly optimized. Simulation was performed not only rigid body mode analysis but also flexible body mode analysis. We obtained the optimal locations and stiffness of engine mounts from simulation results, and had reasonable results from considering flexible body mode than only rigid body mode analysis.

  • This paper presents an inertia type of piezostack based active mount fur unmanned aero vehicle (UAV) camera system. After identifying the stiffness and damping properties of the rubber element and piezostack a mechanical model of the active mount system is established. The governing equation of mount is then derived and expressed in a state space form. Subsequently, a sliding mode controller which is robust to uncertain parameters is designed in order to reduce the vibration imposed according to the military specification associated with UAV camera mount system operation. Control performances such as acceleration and transmitted force are evaluated through both computer simulation and experimental implementation.

  • Fruits are subjected to complex dynamic stresses in the transportation environment. During a long journey form the production area to markets, there is always some degree of vibration present. Vibration inputs are transmitted from the vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. Inside, these cause sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and container wall. These steady state vibration input may cause serious fruit injury, and this damage is particularly severe whenever the fruit inside the package is free to bounce, and is vibrated at its resonant frequency. The determination of the resonant frequencies of the fruit may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. • Recently the impact sound insulation performance is regarded as one of the most import factors in determining the quality of housing environment. In order to reduce the impact sound level transmitted through the floors and structures, establishing the standard level of impact sound insulation performance is needed. In this consideration, The effecting facts for the standard insulation level is reviewed.

  • In this paper, the transmitted noise reduction of smart panels of which passive piezoelectric shunt damping is used, is experimentally studied. Shunt damping experiments are based on the measured electrical impedance model. A passive shunt circuit composed of inductor, and load resistor is devised to dissipate the maximum energy into the joule heat energy For multi mode shunt damping, the shunt circuit is redesigned by adding a blocking circuit.
