  • In this paper, the transmit power minimization for Poisson distributed wireless ad-hoc relay networks in Rayleigh fading channels is considered. We investigate two power allocation methods one is a minimum power allocation (MPA) strategy and the other is an equal outage power allocation (EOPA) strategy. We analyze the total transmit power of two allocation methods under the given end-to-end outage probability constraint. Our results show that the MPA achieves more power saving than EOPA, and the power saving is more significant as the number of relay nodes increases.

  • In this paper, we consider the case where D2D users and the cellular user share the uplink of the cellular system. We propose an iterative power control algorithm that converges to the optimum power value. Each user iteratively updates its transmit power level according to the interference function. Finally, all D2D users and cellular user that participate in the transmission get the optimum transmit power level. We first investigate the interference structure and define the interference function. Then, we show that the considered interference function belongs to the standard interference function that converges the unique transmit power level. Through numerical examples, the convergence of the proposed power control algorithm is examined in the various transmission scenarios.

  • Scan Element Pattern(SEP) and Scan Impedance(SI) concepts are used to analyze the characteristics of open-ended waveguide array, which is the representative phased array antenna element in C-band and X-band. Transmit SEP's are calculated for 15$\sim$15 subarray and SI's are obtained by applying periodic boundary conditions for a unit cell of the given array condition. CST's MWS and Ansoft's HFSS are utilized for each analysis. Some relations are reviewed between the two results, which are based on mutual coupling effects. For validation purpose, an 8$\sim$8 subarray is constructed and tested. Transmit SEP measured in MTG's far-field range shows good agreement with the calculated transmit SEP.

  • Downlink transmit power allocation schemes are proposed for soft fractional frequency reuse (FFR) in loose and tightly coordinated systems. The transmit powers are allocated so that the loss of spectral efficiency from the soft FFR is minimized, and the required cell edge user throughput is guaranteed. The effect of the soft FFR on spectral efficiency is evaluated depending on the power allocation schemes and the number of subbands. Results show that the loss of spectral efficiency from the soft FFR can be reduced by configuring an appropriate number of subbands in the loosely coordinated systems. In tightly coordinated systems, results show that the loss of spectral efficiency can be minimized regardless of the number of subbands due to its fast coordination.

  • Retransmission signals from relays to destination when the destination fails to decode received signal from the source in Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) protocol make the destination receive signals more reliably. With using omni -direction antenna in the practical system, in communication range of both the source antenna and the destination antenna, there are some relays that can be used to transmit signal to the destination. However, using all relays to transmit signal consume power and bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a new protocol in which the best relays are chosen based on threshold of distance from the source to the relay and the relay to the destination when the relays use decode- and forward (DF) protocol. Simulation results prove the efficiency of the protocol when we compare using only the best relays with using all relays to transmit signal to the destination.

  • 송신단에 다중안테나를 사용하는 송신 다이버시티 기법에 대한 연구가 최근 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access)2000과 3GPP(The third generation partnership project)에서 고려한 개루프 송신 다이버시티 기법인 STTD(Space time transmit diversify), OTD (Orthogonal transmit diversity), STS(Space time spreading)를 다수 반송파 CDMA 시스템에 적용시킬 경우 하향링크 (Downlink)에서의 성능을 평가한다. STS와 STTD방식은 동일한 성능을 보이지만 STS방식은 복잡도와 높은 PAR(Peak to average ratio)의 단점을 보이며, OTD는 이 두 방식에 비해 성능이 떨어지는 것을 보여준다.

  • Many methods have been developed to overcome the PAPR(peak-to-average power ratio) problem. Selective mapping(SLM) partial transmit sequence(PTS), subblock phase weighting(SPW) and gradient descent(GD) are used widely to reduce the PAPR. In this paper, we present a effective PAPR reduction method, decrease the calculation through Radix-2 DIF IFFT procedure and GD method. and can transmit selecting data sequence that satisfy threshold value as one part of proposed method, in case satisfy fixed threshold value, or transmit selecting data sequence with the lower papr operating remained part for performance improvement.

  • This contribution focuses on the maximum likelihood (ML) noncoherent synchronization of multi-antenna transceivers working in faded environments and employing ultra-wideband impulse radio (UWB-IR) transmit technology. In particular, the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) is derived for the general case of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) UWB-IR systems and used to compare the ultimate performance of three basic transmit schemes, thereinafter referred to as single input multiple output (SIMO), MIMO equal signaling (MIMO-ES), and MIMO orthogonal signaling (MIMO-OS) ones. Thus, the noncoherent ML synchronizer is developed for the better performing transmit scheme (i.e., the SIMO one) and its performance is evaluated under both signal acquisition and tracking operating conditions. The performance gain in the synchronization of UWB- IR signals arising by the utilization of the multi-antenna technology is also evaluated.

  • In spectrum sensing, there is a tradeoff between the probability of missed detection and the probability of a false alarm according to the value of the sensing threshold. Therefore, it is important to determine the sensing threshold suitable to the environment of cognitive radio networks. In this study, we consider a cognitive radio-based ad hoc network where secondary users directly communicate by using the same frequency band as the primary system and control their transmit power on the basis of the distance between them. First, we investigate a condition in which the primary and the secondary users can share the same frequency band without harmful interference from each other, and then, propose an algorithm that controls the sensing threshold dynamically on the basis of the transmit power of the secondary user. The analysis and simulation results show that the proposed sensing threshold control algorithm has low probabilities of both missed detection and a false alarm and thus, enables optimized spectrum sharing between the primary and the secondary systems.

  • A new ultrasound imaging technique based on simultaneous multiple transmit focusing using orthogonal modified Golay codes is presented. modified Golay codes are used to increase signal-to-noise-ratio(SNR) and maximize the transmit power efficiency(TPE). Conventional Golay codes consist of a pair of complementary codes with same length and can be compressed into a delta-like signal due to their complementary property. In the present work, two modified Golay codes focused at different depths are transmitted at the same time, which are mutually orthogonal. On receive, these orthogonal modified Golay codes are separately compressed into two short pulses and individually focused. These two focused beam are combined to form a frame of image with improved lateral resolution. Computer simulations are performed to verity the proposed method improves the lateral resolution of image compared with the conventional echo system.
