Wind tunnel tests on wind loads acting on steel tubular transmission towers under skewed wind

  • Steel tubular towers are commonly used in UHV and long crossing transmission lines. By considering effects of the model scale, the solidity ratio and the ratio of the mean width to the mean height, wind tunnel tests under different wind speeds on twenty tubular steel tower body models and twenty-six tubular steel cross-arm models were completed. Drag coefficients and shielding factors of the experimental tower body models and cross-arm models in wind directional axis for typical skewed angles were obtained. The influence of the lift forces on the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel tower bodies was evaluated. The skewed wind load factors, the wind load distribution factors in transversal and longitudinal direction were calculated for the tubular tower body models and cross-arm models, respectively. Fitting expressions for the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel bodies and cross-arms were determined through nonlinear fitting analysis. Parameters for skewed wind loads determined by wind tunnel tests were compared with the regulations in applicable standards. Suggestions on the drag coefficients, the skewed wind load factors and the wind load distribution factors were proposed for tubular steel transmission towers.

Prediction of Flashover and Pollution Severity of High Voltage Transmission Line Insulators Using Wavelet Transform and Fuzzy C-Means Approach

  • Major problem in the high voltage power transmission line is the flashover due to polluted ceramic insulators which leads to failure of equipments, catastrophic fires and power outages. This paper deals with the development of a better diagnostic tool to predict the flashover and pollution severity of power transmission line insulators based on the wavelet transform and fuzzy c-means clustering approach. In this work, laboratory experiments were carried out on power transmission line porcelain insulators under AC voltages at different pollution conditions and corresponding leakage current patterns were measured. Discrete wavelet transform technique is employed to extract important features of leakage current signals. Variation of leakage current magnitude and distortion ratio at different pollution levels were analyzed. Fuzzy c-means algorithm is used to cluster the extracted features of the leakage current data. Test results clearly show that the flashover and pollution severity of power transmission line insulators can be effectively realized through fuzzy clustering technique and it will be useful to carry out preventive maintenance work.

원형파일군에 의한 파랑제어 특성 (Effects of Wave Dissipation with Circular Cylinders)

  • One of the central problems in astudy of the coastal surface wave environment is predicting the transformation of waves as they propagate toward the shore. The transformation is mainly due to the existence of obstacles, such as breakwaters and vertical cylinders. In general, the types of wave transformation can be classified as follows: wave diffraction, reflection, transmission, scattering, radiation, et al. This research dealtwith wave transmission and dissipation problems for two dimensional irregular waves and vertical circular cylinders. Using the unsteady mild slope equation, a numerical model was developed to calculate the reflection and transmission of regular waves from a multiple-row circular breakwater and vertical cylinders. In addition, hydraulic model experiments were conducted with different values for the properties between tire piles and the opening ratio (distances) between the rows of the breakwater. It was found that the transmission coefficients decreased with a decrease in the opening ratio and an increase in the rows of vertical cylinders. A comparison between the results of hydraulic and numerical experiments showed reasonable agreement.

Maximum Ratio Transmission for Space-Polarization Division Multiple Access in Dual-Polarized MIMO System

  • The phenomena of higher channel cross polarization discrimination (XPD) is mainly observed for future wireless technologies such as small cell network and massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. Therefore, utilization of high XPD is very important and space-polarization division multiple access (SPDMA) with dual-polarized MIMO system could be a suitable solution to high-speed transmission in high XPD environment as well as reduction of array size at base station (BS). By SPDMA with dual-polarized MIMO system, two parallel data signals can be transmitted by both vertically and horizontally polarized antennas to serve different mobile stations (MSs) simultaneously compare to conventional space division multiple access (SDMA) with single-polarized MIMO system. This paper analyzes the performance of SPDMA for maximum ratio transmission (MRT) in time division duplexing (TDD) system by proposed dual-polarized MIMO spatial channel model (SCM) compare to conventional SDMA. Simulation results indicate that how SPDMA utilizes the high XPD as the number of MS increases and SPDMA performs very close to conventional SDMA for same number of antenna elements but half size of the array at BS.

Improved Parameter Estimation with Threshold Adaptation of Cognitive Local Sensors

  • Reliable detection of primary user activity increases the opportunity to access temporarily unused bands and prevents harmful interference to the primary system. By extracting a global decision from local sensing results, cooperative sensing achieves high reliability against multipath fading. For the effective combining of sensing results, which is generalized by a likelihood ratio test, the fusion center should learn some parameters, such as the probabilities of primary transmission, false alarm, and detection at the local sensors. During the training period in supervised learning, the on/off log of primary transmission serves as the output label of decision statistics from the local sensor. In this paper, we extend unsupervised learning techniques with an expectation maximization algorithm for cooperative spectrum sensing, which does not require an external primary transmission log. Local sensors report binary hard decisions to the fusion center and adjust their operating points to enhance learning performance. Increasing the number of sensors, the joint-expectation step makes a confident classification on the primary transmission as in the supervised learning. Thereby, the proposed scheme provides accurate parameter estimates and a fast convergence rate even in low signal-to-noise ratio regimes, where the primary signal is dominated by the noise at the local sensors.

Beamforming 기반 MIMO-OFDMA 시스템을 이용한 하향링크 실시간 트래픽 전송 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Downlink Real-Time Traffic Transmission Using MIMO-OFDMA Systems Based on Beamforming)

  • 미래형 이동통신 시스템에서 셀 경계와 같이 반송파댄간섭전력비 (Carrier-to-Interference Ratio; CIR)가 낮은 열악한 채널 환경에서 하향링크 실시간 트래픽의 전송 성능 개선을 위한 Beanforming 기반 MIMO-OFDMA (Multi Input Multi Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) 시스템을 제안한다. 우선 기본적인 MIMO-OFDM 시스템의 성능 향상을 위해 송신단 MRT (Maximum Ratio Transmission) 및 수신단 MRC (Maximum Ratio Combining) 기법의 연동을 고려하고, 이에 적합하도록 공간 자원 그룹화 기반의 CSI (Channel State Information) 계산법을 이용한 M-GTA-SBA (Modified-Grouped Transmit Antenna-Simple Bit Allocation) 기법을 고려한다 또한 Beamforming 적용으로 인한 상향링크에서의 과도한 궤환 정보량의 감소를 위해 Beam Weight 양자화 기반의 QEGT (Quantized Equal Gain Transmission) 기법을 적용하며, 다중 사용자 환경에서의 효율적인 자원 할당을 위해 P-SRA (Proposed Simple Resource Allocation) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 모의실험 결과, 제안된 시스템은 상향링크의 궤환 정보량을 감안하더라도 H-ARQ IR (Hybrid-Automatic Repeat Request Incremental Redundancy)과 Pseudo-Orthogonal Space Time Block Code를 사용하는 전형적인 개방루프형 MIMO-OFDMA 시스템에 비해 낮은 CIR 영역에서 월등히 개선된 주파수 효율 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

단선과 단락 스터브가 연결된 전송선로를 이용한 높은 분배비율을 갖는 전력 분배기 (Power Dividers for High Splitting Ratios using Transmission Line Connected with Open and Short Stubs)

  • 본 논문은 단락 또는 단선 스터브가 연결된 전송선로를 이용하여 높은 분배 비율을 갖는 비대칭 전력 분배기를 구현하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 2포트 전송선로 중앙에 임의의 임피던스로 변환할 수 있도록 별도의 포트를 추가한 3포트 전송선로와 단선 또는 단락 스터브가 각 포트에 병렬로 연결된 3포트 전송선로를 등가회로로 보고 회로를 해석한 것이다. 이러한 방법의 타당성을 증명하기 위해서, 분배 비율 k2 = 20 dB를 갖는 윌킨슨 전력분배기와 k2 = 17 dB를 갖는 Gysel 전력분배기를 3포트 전송선로 등가회로를 이용하여 중심주파수 1 GHz에서 설계하였으며, 전기적 특성의 실험 결과는 시뮬레이션과 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

V-blet를 적용한 2단 수동변속기의 변속특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Shift Characteristics of a 2speed Manual Transmission apply to V-Blet)

  • 세계적으로 친환경자동차의 연구 및 개발이 확대되면서 주행거리를 증대시키기 위해 차량의 부가적인 장치를 축소·삭제하거나 경량화를 위한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 그 중 내연기관자동차에 적용되던 다단변속기를 삭제하고 감속기로 대체하여 모터출력 값 제어를 통해 토크증대로 초기구동력을 확보하고 있다. 하지만 잦은 모터의 속도변화로 부하가 상승되는 결과를 가져올 수 있기 때문에 본 연구에서는 일반적인 감속기구조를 갖는 소형·경량의 수동 2단 감속기를 개발하려고 한다. 따라서 평행축을 갖는 구조에 대기어와 소기어를 삽입하여 평행한 축의 감속기형태에서 V-벨트로 기어를 연결하고, 저단과 고단의 기어비를 각각 설정하여 2개의 기어비를 갖는 2단 변속기를 설계하였다. 또한 변속기의 회전속도와 부하에 따른 동력성능을 시험을 통해 확인하고 구동시 발생되는 발열특성을 확인하여 변속기의 타당성을 검증하였다.

V-벨트식 변속장치와 2K-H ll형식 차등기어장치의 복합형 무단변속기 (Continuously Variable Transmission Composed of a V-Belt Drive and a 2K-H II Type Differential Cear Unit)

  • As combining the functions of a 2K-H B type differential gear unit and a V-belt type continuously variable unit(CVU), 16 different mechanisms are presented. Some useful theoretical formula related to speed ratio, power flow and efficiency are derived and analyzed. Continuously variable transmission(CVT) mechanisms are proposed, which can of ffr a backward mode, a geared neutral, an underdrive mode and an overdrive mode. They are not required of a starting device as a torque converter. CVT mechanisms developed here present two distinct operating modes which are a power circulation mode and a power split mode. The transition of two modes takes place at the particular CVU speed ratio. For these CVT mechanisms, performance analysis related to speed ratio, power ratio and theoretical efficiency are executed.

  • In order to develop a human hand mechanism, a 5-bar finger with redundant actuation is designed and implemented. an optimal set of acutator locations and link lengths for the case of one redundant actuator is obtained by employing a composite design index which simulataneously consider several performance indices such as workspace, isotropic index, and force transmission ratio. Each joing is driven by an compact actuator mechanism having ultrasonic motor and a gear set with poeneiometer an controlled by VME Bus-based control system.
