  • The purpose of this paper is to a develop model for generation expansion planning that can support diverse environmental policies for the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs) of South Korea. South Korea is required to reduce its GHG emissions by 30% from the BAU level by 2020. The Wien Automatic System Planning Package currently used in South Korea has limitations in terms of the application of renewable energy policies and GHG targets; this paper proposes the use of an equipment planning model named generation and transmission expansion program, which has been developed to resolve such limitations. For verification of the model, a case study on the 6th Basic Plan of Long-Term Electricity Supply and Demand has been conducted. The results show that for the year 2020 South Korea's annual GHG emissions will be 36.6% more than the GHG Target Management System (GHG TMS) target set for the same year (30%). To achieve the GHG TMS target, the costs involved amount to about 72 trillion KRW (70 billion USD). Consequently, the South Korean government needs to review the performability of this target.

  • Objective: Specific genomic sites can be recognized and permanently modified by genome editing. The discovery of endonucleases has advanced genome editing in pigs, attenuating xenograft rejection and cross-species disease transmission. However, off-target mutagenesis caused by these nucleases is a major barrier to putative clinical applications. Furthermore, off-target mutagenesis by genome editing has not yet been addressed in pigs. Methods: Here, we generated genetically inheritable α-1,3-galactosyltransferase (GGTA1) knockout Yucatan miniature pigs by combining transcription activator-like effector nuclease (TALEN) and nuclear transfer. For precise estimation of genomic mutations induced by TALEN in GGTA1 knockout pigs, we obtained the whole-genome sequence of the donor cells for use as an internal control genome. Results: In-depth whole-genome sequencing analysis demonstrated that TALEN-mediated GGTA1 knockout pigs had a comparable mutation rate to homologous recombination-treated pigs and wild-type strain controls. RNA sequencing analysis associated with genomic mutations revealed that TALEN-induced off-target mutations had no discernable effect on RNA transcript abundance. Conclusion: Therefore, TALEN appears to be a precise and safe tool for generating genomeedited pigs, and the TALEN-mediated GGTA1 knockout Yucatan miniature pigs produced in this study can serve as a safe and effective organ and tissue resource for clinical applications.

  • In this paper, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio about pulse, integration coherent, and integration non coherent system in radar system. It compared existing with proposal method in order to estimation two target direction of arrival. Generally, radar system radiate pulse wave in order to decreasing distortion of return wave and transmission wave. We analysed the performance integration coherent and integration non coherent. Integration coherent is processing system before doing envelop detection, and integration non coherent is processing system after doing envelop detection. Through simulation, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio to estimation two target range detection and estimated target direction of arrival. We showed that integration coherent system is the most good performance.

  • A Stepped Frequency Radar(SFR) is a method that realizes high resolution range estimation by increasing the frequency of transmission pulses at regular intervals to generate a wide synthetic bandwidth. However, in the case of a moving target, accurate range estimation becomes difficult due to the range-Doppler coupling. In this paper, the process of high resolution range estimation by compensation of the range-Doppler coupling with estimated velocity of the moving target using the SFR waveform with Coherent Pulse Train(CPT) is analyzed and it was verified through simulation.

  • SAR radar and FLIR images, which are taken from sensors on aircrafts or satellites, are compressed prior to transmission to facilitate rapid transfer through the limited bandwidth channels. In this case, it is important that it achieves compression ratio as high as possible as well as high target detection rate. In this paper a joint ATR-compression system based on the subband coding and VQ is proposed, which utilizes the encoder as a predictor or classifier for target detection. Simulation result shows that the proposed system achieves a relatively high level of target detection performance as well as a high compression ratio over 200:1.

  • The MTD-based approach changes various operating parameters dynamically so that the vulnerability of the system can be protected from the malicious attack. In this paper, random/serial scanning/jamming attack success probabilities have been mathematically analyzed and verified through simulation to improve the security of the wireless communication systems in which the MTD-SDR technologies are applied. As a result, for random scanning attacks, attack success probability increases as the change period of transmission channel increases, while for random jamming attacks there is no change. The attack success probability patterns for serial attacks are similar to those of random attacks, but when the change period of transmission channel approaches to the total number of transmission channels, the success probability of serial attack is getting greater than that of random attack, up to twice in jamming attacks and up to 36% in scanning attacks.

  • Acoustic target strength (TS) is one of the most considerable design elements for survival capacities of the submarine. It needs to reduce acoustic TS that submarines are getting larger and larger, Alberich anechoic coatings are widely used as the representative method. In this paper, the finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the reflection and transmission coefficients of Alberich anechoic coatings, which have periodic unit cells. The FEM results are compared with experimental results in the literature. Moreover, acoustic TS for the submarine is analyzed by using that result. Finally, it is shown that acoustic TS (Case 1: 10dB, Case 2: 6dB) are reduced due to the use of Alberich anechoic coatings.

  • The study aims to address the energy crisis and realize self-sufficiency of building as part of local energy independence, breaking away from a single concentrated energy supply system. It is intended to develop modules of the outside insulation composite panels that conform to passive certification criteria and for site-assembly systematization. The method of study first identifies trends and passive house in literature and advanced research. Second, the target performance for development is set, and the structural material is selected and designed to simulate performance. Third, a test specimen of the passive outside insulation curtain wall module designed is manufactured and constructed to test its heat transmission coefficient, condensation performance and airtightness. Finally, analyze performance test results, and explore and propose ways to improve the estimation and improvement of incomplete causes to achieve the goal. The final test results achieved the target performance of condensation and airtightness, and the heat transmission coefficient was $0.16W/(m^2{\cdot}K)$, which is $0.01W/(m^2{\cdot})K$ below the performance target. As for the lack of performance, we saw a need for a complementary design to account for simulation errors. It also provided an opportunity to recognize that insulated walls with performance can impact performance at small break. Thus, to be commercialized into a product with the need for improvement in the design of the joint parts, a management system is needed to increase the precision in the fabrication process.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a CHILL Run-time System(CRS) that provides a running environments of real-time distributed software like as ATM switching software on host computers. To do this, we have proposed an execution model of real-time distributed CHILL proRrams and developed a CHS executinR the software of the execution model on host computers. Because CRS provides transparent runninR environments of target operating system, programmers are able to develop target system software without target system. As it provides an environment for multiple users running programs concurrently, it guarantees the improvement of program productivity. Originally, CRS has developed as a simulator of SROS. But it can be easily modified for other operating systems.
