  • Corona interferences, such as radio noise, audible noise and television noise, need to be taken into account in the design of HVDC transmission line conductor configuration. Therefore the line designer requires data from which to estimate the corona performance of any set of conductors. To get a sufficiently complete set of design data, it is necessary to examine the corona test of a large number of conductor geometries. This paper presents the results of corona cage test among three types of candidate conductors. It is quite clear from test results that the conductor geometries play an important role in establishing the magnitude of corona noise. Corona noise data from corona cage test are expressed as a statistical distribution of results obtained over long periods of time and various weather conditions. Therefore we can determine an environmentally-friendly conductor bundle for HVDC overhead transmission line. Based on this finding results, various simulations about HVDC line configurations, such as pole space and pole height, will be conducted. And then finally an optimal configuration for HVDC transmission line will be decided.

  • An automatic transmission of construction equipment is controlled by hydraulic and electronic system for doing in various functions like as shifting and operation. The shifting is operated by the engaged and disengaged clutch motion from hydraulic power. On the shifting process, suitable pressure control to the clutch is required for smooth shifting. Hydraulic control system in the automatic transmission is divided by the pilot control type and the direct control type greatly. The direct control type has an advantage than the pilot control type. Because the structure is simple, the design and the manufacture are having less troubles and the system can be maximized precision pressure control. However, the excellent performance proportional control valve should be used to achieve proper control-ability. In this study, the dynamic analysis model composing the automatic transmission and hydraulic system for forklift truck is presented to simulate the characteristics of hydraulic system about the direct control type. That model is verified the validity compared the results of the testing examination. Parameters of input signal are analyzed to reduce the output torque according to input control signal is affected in shifting characteristic.

수상 자전거의 동력전달장치 설계 (Design of Power Transmission System of a Water Bike)

  • The power transmission system has always been considered critical for a human powered boat(or water bike) since it first showed up at Human Powered Vessel Festival. Mechanical problems, such as abrasions and other damages of the gear system for the power transmission, lead to poor durability and low efficiency of a boat. This paper described mechanical problems and a design process of power transmission system and then suggested the method to solve the problems. It is selected a module and a type of gears that are structurally stable thus can transmit the power durable. Especially the lower gear box is applied to CRP(contra rotating propeller) system for improving the structural stability and the propeller efficiency as well. As the results, the upper and lower gear box are designed and manufactured. And from the trial test, it is confirmed that the power transmission system is reliable.

  • Despite the wide industrial applications of planetary gear trains, the relationship between the design parameters (tooth profile, carrier mass, etc.) and performance (strength, vibration, noise, etc.) remains poorly understood. A significant amount of research has focused on transmission errors, which are measurable performance indicators directly related to the design parameters. Herein, an experimental test rig for a single-stage planetary gear set built using digital angular encoders and gap sensors is described. To study the static and dynamic characteristics of this planetary gear train, the transmission errors and sun gear orbit are analyzed from the data measured under various levels of torque and speed. The transmission errors of the gear train decrease 40% when the speed increases from 30 to 600 rpm with an output torque of 39.2 Nm, and increase 22% when the output torque increases from 19.6 to 39.2 Nm with an input speed of 30 rpm.

  • 동기 망과 전송망에서의 동기클럭 성능은 망의 안정성 화보와 데이터 전송 보장 측면에서 중요한 요소이다. 그러므로 망을 설계할 때 동기망과 전송망의 동기클럭 성능을 분석하기 위하여 다양한 파라메타를 적용할 수 있고, 그리고 최상상태에서 최악상태까지 망에서 나타날 수 있는 여러 가지 입력레벨을 적용할 수 있는 시뮬레이터가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 동기망과 전송망에서의 동기클럭 특성을 분석할 수 있는 SNCA와 TNCA를 개발하였고, 또한 개발된 시뮬레이터를 활용하여 다양한 원더생성, 노드 수, 클럭 상태 등의 입력조건에 따른 NEl, NE2, NE3 등 전송망과 DOTS1과 DOTS2 등 동기 망에서의 동기 클럭 특성과 최대 노드수 결과를 얻었다.

Design and Implementation of Intelligent IP Switch with Packet FEC for Ensuring Reliability of ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Streams

  • The terrestrial ATSC 3.0 broadcasting system, which is capable of converging broadcast and communication services, uses IP based technology for data transmission between broadcasting equipment. In addition, data transmission between broadcasting equipment uses IP-based technology like existing wired communication network, which has advantageous in terms of equipment construction and maintenance In case IP based data transmission technology is used, however, it may inevitably cause an error that a packet is lost during transmission depending on the network environments. In order to cope with a broadcasting accident caused by such a transmission error or a malfunction of a broadcasting apparatus, a broadcasting system is generally configured as a duplication, which can transmit a normal packet when various types of error may occur. By this reason, correction method of error packets and intelligent switching technology are essential. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a design and implementation of intelligent IP switch for Ensuring Reliability of ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Streams. The proposed intelligent IP consists of IP Stream Analysis Module, ALP Stream Analysis Module, STL Stream Analysis Module and SMPTE 2022-1 based FEC Encoding/Decoding Module.

  • A forklift is a powered industrial vehicle used to lift and move materials over short distances. Nowadays, almost all forklifts are equipped with an automatic transmission due to its improved operator comfort and increased productivity. Thanks to marked improvement of transmission control unit equipped with highly-advanced microcontrollers, recently developed automatic transmission for forklift have various auxiliary functions such as creep, auto retardation, and automatic shift with excellent shift quality. This paper deals with the creep function which enables one to maneuver a forklift at the designated low speed by slip control of clutches. The design of creep function was based on four modes of creep operation depending on the status of the operator's shift lever and accelerator pedal. Control algorithms and control parameters for each mode were designed to achieve the desired static and dynamic performance. Vehicle test for the designed creep function was carried out with an independently developed embedded controller. Test results confirmed good creep speed control without speed error at a steady state with a mild shift shock during mode changes by stepping or releasing the accelerator.

  • This paper presents the information transmission between on-board and ground-site in MAGLEV. considering safety and high speed operation and density operation, information transmission between them is necessary. Therefore it is necessary for transmission system to ensure high speed transmission, low error rate, massive information, and reliability of information. To provide above conditions, 1.1km signal line assembly was constructed and Frequency Shift Keying(FSK) modulation and Open System Interconnection(OSI) based high-level data link control(HDLC) protocol are applied. To modulate digital signal for transmission from ground-site to on-board, carrier frequency of 70kHz is used and 90khz is used for transmission from on-board to ground-site. Transmission speed is 2400bps for consideration of train speed, quantity of information, and data error rate. And this paper introduces information monitoring considering user interface and presents the method for an effective data transmission in MAGLEV which is now being tested and intends to provide for an intelligent train operation system in future.

Design Improvement of Mechanical Transmission for Tracked Small Agricultural Transporters through Gear Strength Analysis

  • Purpose: The gear strength of a new mechanical transmission designed to increase the loading weight of small 4.8 kW tracked agricultural transporters was analyzed. Design improvements to increase the gear strength and reduce the gear weight were proposed after examining the parameters. Methods: Sixteen operators from three regions were surveyed to obtain the usage profile of small 4.8 kW transporters. Gear strength was evaluated by calculating contact stress and tooth root stress using commercial software following ISO 6336. Results: From the strength calculation for each gear pair, contact stress smaller than tooth root stresses were produced in all gear pairs. The safety factors in most cases exceeded 1.0, except in the case of gear pair II in group II. The design life of the transporter using gear pair II in group II was 42% under harsh conditions-thus, this design life needs improvement. A robust design was proposed by examining the relevant parameters (face width and profile shift coefficient) to increase the design life of the transporter. In addition, a lightweight design for gear pair I in group II that was considered overdesigned was proposed by examining the face width to reduce the weight of the drive gear by 42% and that of the driven gear by 30%. Conclusions: The Safety factor for the design life was examined through a gear strength analysis. After examining the relevant parameters, conditions for strength improvement were proposed to increase design life or adjust overdesigned gear. However, load conditions differ depending on the working conditions or user's preferences; therefore, it is necessary to conduct further studies in various regions.

  • Presently, rapidly changing and unstable global economic environments demand engineers. Products should be designed to increase profits by lowering costs and provide distinguished performance compared with competitors. This study aims to optimize the design of the power-transmission drive shaft. The mass is reduced as an objective function, and the stress is constrained under a constant value. To reduce the number of experiments, CCD (central composite design) and D-Optimal are used for the experimental design. RSM (response surface methodology) is employed to construct a regression model for the objective functions and constraint function. In this problem, there is only one objective function for the mass. The other objective function gives 1; thus, NSGA-II is used.
