This paper presents a geometrical approach to the characteristic analysis of parallel mechanism with free joints intended for use as a planar task robot. Solution of the forward and inverse kinematic problems are described. Because the mechanism has only three degree-of-freedom output, constraint equations must be generated to describe the inter-relationship between actuated joints and free joints so as to describe the position and orientation of the moving platform. Once these constraints are incorporated into the kinematics model, a constrained Jacobian matrix is obtained. and it is used for the solution of the forward kinematic equations by Newton-Raphson technique. Another Jacobian matrix was derived to describe the interrelationship between actuated joints and moving platform. The stiffness, velocity transmission ratio, force transmission ratio and dexterity of the mechanism are then determined based on this another Jacobian matrix. The geometrical construction of the mechanism for the best performance was investigated using the characteristic analysis.

The introduction of a digiral subscriber loop transmission system necessitates an optimized line interface solution. To meet this objective an adaptive line equalizer has been developed. The equalizer can be compensated up to 42 dB line loss at 200KHz, and operated up to 3.2 Km transmission length (0.4 mm\ulcornercable)at a rate of 400Kb/s. This has been builted using a variable \ulcorner equalizer to compensate a frequency-attenuation characteristics of metallic cable, an AGC (automatic gain control) circuits with simple control algorithm, and various filters to minimize a transmission constraints over subscriber loop. The purpose of this paper is to present a short description of a design of the adaptive line equalizer with a summary of implementation results. Some design concepts and considerations which results in an implementation of the equalizer are also given.

The ELD computation has been based upon the so-called B-coefficient which uses a quadratic approximation of system loss as a function of generation output. Direct derivation of system loss sensitivity based on the Jacobian-based method was developed in early 1970s', which could eliminate the dependence upon the approximate loss formula. However, both the B-coefficient and the Jacobian-based method require a complicated Procedure for calculating the system loss sensitivity included in the constraints of the optimization problem. In this paper, an ELD formulation in which only the bus power equations are defined as the constraints has been introduced. Derivation of the partial derivatives of the system loss with respect to the generator output and calculation of the penalty factors for individual generators are not required anymore in proposed method. A comprehensive solution procedure including calculation of the Jacobians and Hessians of the formulation has been presented in detail. Proposed ELD formulation has been tested on a sample system and the simulation indicated a satisfactory result.

In order to improve spectral efficiency and reduce power consumption for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) assisted wireless communication systems, a joint design considering irregular RIS topology, RIS on-off switch, power allocation and phase adjustment is investigated in this paper. Firstly, a multi-dimensional variable joint optimization problem is established under multiple constraints, such as the minimum data requirement and power constraints, with the goal of maximizing the system energy efficiency. However, the proposed optimization problem is hard to be resolved due to its property of nonlinear nonconvex integer programming. Then, to tackle this issue, the problem is decomposed into four sub-problems: topology design, phase shift adjustment, power allocation and switch selection. In terms of topology design, Tabu search algorithm is introduced to select the components that play the main role. For RIS switch selection, greedy algorithm is used to turn off the RISs that play the secondary role. Finally, an iterative optimization algorithm with high data-rate and low power consumption is proposed. The simulation results show that the performance of the irregular RIS aided system with topology design and RIS selection is better than that of the fixed topology and the fix number of RISs. In addition, the proposed joint optimization algorithm can effectively improve the data rate and energy efficiency by changing the propagation environment.

This paper considers a scenario that more D2D users exist in the cell, they compete for cellular resources to increase their own data rates, which may cause transmission interference to cellular users (CU) and the unfairness of resource allocation. We design a resource allocation scheme for selfish D2D users assisted by cooperative relay technique which is used to further enhance the users' transmission rates, meanwhile guarantee the QoS requirement of the CUs. Two transmission modes are considered for D2D users: direct transmission mode and cooperative relay transmission mode, both of which reuses the cellular uplink frequency resources. To ensure the fairness of resource distribution, Nash bargaining theory is used to determine the transmission mode and solve the bandwidth allocation problem for D2D users choosing cooperative relay transmission mode, and coalition formation game theory is used to solve the uplink frequency sharing problem between D2D users and CUs through a new defined "Selfish order". Through theoretical analysis, we obtain the closed Nash bargaining solution under CUs' rate constraints, and prove the stability of the formatted coalition. Simulation results show that the proposed resource allocation approach achieves better performance on resource allocation fairness, with only little sacrifice on the system sum rates.
In this paper, we propose efficient peer assignment algorithms for low-latency transmission of scalable coded images in peer-to-peer networks, in which peers may dynamically join and leave the networks. The objective of our algorithm is to minimize the transmission time of a requested image that is scalable coded. When an image is scalable coded in different bit rates, the bit stream encoded in a lower bit rate is a prefix subset of the one encoded in a higher bit rate. Therefore, a peer with the same requested image coded in any bit rate, even when it is different from the requested rate, may work as a supplying peer. As a result, when a scalable coded image is requested, more supplying peers can be found in peer-to-peer networks to help with the transfer. However, the set of supplying peers is not static during transmission, as the peers in this set may leave the network or finish their transmission at different times. The proposed peer assignment algorithms have taken into account the above constraints. In this paper, we first prove the existence of an optimal peer assignment solution for a simple identity permutation function, and then formulate peer assignment with this identity permutation as a mixed-integer programming problem. Next, we discuss how to address the problem of dynamic peer departures during image transmission. Finally, we carry out experiments to evaluate the performance of proposed peer assignment algorithms.

This paper presents a technique that can obtain an optimal solution for the Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) problems using the Interior Point Method (IPM) while taking into account of the power flow constraints. The SCED equations are formulated by using only the real power flow equations from the optimal power flow. Then an algorithm is presented that can linearize the SCED equations based on the relationships among generation real power outputs, loads, and transmission losses to obtain the optimal solutions by applying the linear programming (LP) technique. The objective function of the proposed linearization algorithm are formulated based on the fuel cost functions of the power plants. The power balance equations utilize the Incremental Transmission Loss Factor (ITLF) corresponding to the incremental generation outputs and the line constraints equations are linearized based on the Generalized Generation Distribution Factor (GGDF). Finally, the application of the Primal Interior Point Method (PIPM) for solving the optimization problem based on the proposed linearized objective function is presented. The results are compared with the Simplex Method and the promising results ard obtained.
As the power demand has increased and power industry deregulation has progressed, the transmission and distribution system will have more complicated problems by the influence of investment reduction and NIMBY phenomena for overall power system. It is expected that the route length per MW demand will reduce gradually from 0.6[C-km/MW] to 0.53 [C-km/MW] in 2010. This comes up to a real serious problem of system planning and operational viewpoints. HTS technologies related to power system have properties to solve these complex transmission and distribution constraints, especially for metropolitan area, in the future. As the HTS technology has developed, the HTS cable technology can be the most effective alternative to solve the future expected power network constraints. This paper describes the application methodology of developing 22.9㎸ HTS cable by CAST for practical distribution system. 22.9㎸ HTS cable under development with step-by-step application methodology can substitute the existing and planning conventional 154㎸ cable. If this scheme is applied, part of downtown 154㎸ substation of metropolitan city such as Seoul can be changed into 22.9㎸ switching station. It can give great economic, environmental and additional benefits to all of the concerned authorities.
The current multihome-aware protocols (like stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) or parallel TCP for concurrent multipath data transfer (CMT) are not designed for high-capacity and large-latency networks; they often have performance problems transferring large data files over shared long-distance wide area networks. It has been shown that SCTP-CMT is more sensitive to receive buffer (rbuf) constraints, and this rbuf-blocking problem causes considerable throughput loss when multiple paths are used simultaneously. In this research paper, we demonstrate the weakness of SCTP-CMT rbuf constraints, and we then identify that rbuf-blocking problem in SCTP multihoming is mostly due to its loss-based nature for detecting network congestion. We present a simulation-based performance comparison of FAST TCP versus SCTP in high-speed networks for solving a number of throughput issues. This work proposes an end-to-end transport layer protocol (i.e., FAST TCP multihoming as a reliable, delaybased, multihome-aware, and selective ACK-based transport protocol), which can transfer data between a multihomed source and destination hosts through multiple paths simultaneously. Through extensive ns-2 simulations, we show that FAST TCP multihoming achieves the desired goals under a variety of network conditions. The experimental results and survey presented in this research also provide an insight on design decisions for the future high-speed multihomed transport layer protocols.

This paper proposes a transmission algorithm that optimizes transmission power and sub-channel allocation to maximize energy efficiency considering characteristics of the channel impedance of power lines in power line communication systems. Since the received power at the receiver is influenced by the characteristics of the power line channel, it is necessary to consider channel characteristics when developing a transmission strategy in a power line communication systems. In addition, the energy efficiency should be optimized while meeting the practical constraints, such as the maximum transmission power limit of the transmitter and minimum quality of service for each user. In the computer simulation, we confirm that the energy efficiency of the proposed algorithm is improved compared to baseline schemes.
