멀티 칩 LED 패키지의 방열 특성 (Thermal Dissipation Characteristics of Multi-Chip LED Packages)

  • In order to understand the thermal performance of each LED chips in multi-chip LED package, a quantitative parametric analysis of the temperature evolution was investigated by thermal transient analysis. TSP (Temperature Sensitive Parameter) value was measured and the junction temperature was predicted. Thermal resistance between the p-n junction and the ambient was obtained from the structure function with the junction temperature evolution during the cooling period of LED. The results showed that, the thermal resistance of the each LED chips in 4 chip-LED package was higher than that of single chip- LED package.

PD+I-type fuzzy controller using Simplified Indirect Inference Method

  • Generally, while PD-type fuzzy controller has good performance in transient period, it has uniform steady state error of response. To improve limitations of PD-type fuzzy controller, we propose a new fuzzy controller to improve the performance of transient response and to eliminate the steady state error of response. In this paper, PD-type fuzzy controller is used a simplified indirect inference method(SIIM). When the SIIM is applied, the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. The outputs of this controller are the output calculated by PD-type fuzzy controller and the accumulated error scaling factor. Here, the accumulated error scaling factor is adjusted by fuzzy rule according to the system state variables. To show the usefulness of the proposed controller, it is applied to 0-type 2nd-order linear system.

임계각속도 주변에서의 회전 외팔보의 동역학 (Dynamics of a Rotating Cantilever Beam Near Its Critical Angular Speed)

  • Dynamics of a rotating cantilever beam near its critical angular speed is investigated in this paper. The external, force is idealized as a periodic function which has the same period as the rotati ng frequency of the beam. The equations of motion are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. A prescribed spin-up motion is employed for the rotating motion. Numerical study shows that the steady state and the transient responses of the beam are affected by the spin-up time constant and there exists a time constant at which the maximum transient response becomes minimum.

  • The use of LPG as clean fuel for Diesel engine is very attractive way to reduce soot and NOx emission. In this study, a numerical study has been done to know the transient behavior of LPG fuel in chamber pressures which is held at a pressure above (0.37MPa)and below(0.15MPa)the fuel vapor pressure. Results show that the vortex formed within the start of injection at the leading edge of the spray cone and was most apparent for 0.15MPa chamber pressure case. The high speed photographs and model results showed a narrower cone angle during the quasi-steady spray period at the 0.37MPa chamber pressure compared to the 0.15MPa case. And it can be shown that more realistic vaporization process is necessary to predict the spray length well.

천연가스자동차 촉매의 온도분포 및 배기정화 특성 (Temperature and exhaust gas conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles)

  • Experiments were conducted to investigate the temperature profile and the emissions conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles. Two types of the catalyst structure and several transient engine operating conditions were used. The dual-bed catalyst effectively reduced the emissions in a transient period due to the low heat capacity of the front bed. The lanthanoid additives were effective in improving catalyst durability. When the natural gas fueled engine were operated outside of a very narrow window of excess air ratio (from 0.993 to 1.004), the HC and NOx conversion efficiency dropped off. The drop-off were especially fast on the lean side of the window.

  • A numerical study has been conducted to characterize the transient flow in a utility gas turbine burning natural gas. The solution domain encompasses the supply gas pressure regulator to the combustor of the gas turbine that employs multi-nozzle fuel injectors. Some results produced for verification in the present study agree suite well with the experimental ones. It is found that the total gas flow may decrease noticeably during its combustion mode change, which would be the reason of momentary combustion upset, when a reference case of opening ratios of control valves in the system is applied. Several parameters are then varied in order to make the total gas flow stable over that period of time. Results of this study may be useful to understand the unsteady behavior of combustion system burning natural gas.

Internet Traffic Control Using Dynamic Neural Networks

  • Active Queue Management(AQM) has been widely used for congestion avoidance in Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) networks. Although numerous AQM schemes have been proposed to regulate a queue size close to a reference level, most of them are incapable of adequately adapting to TCP network dynamics due to TCP's non-linearity and time-varying stochastic properties. To alleviate these problems, we introduce an AQM technique based on a dynamic neural network using the Back-Propagation(BP) algorithm. The dynamic neural network is designed to perform as a robust adaptive feedback controller for TCP dynamics after an adequate training period. We evaluate the performances of the proposed neural network AQM approach using simulation experiments. The proposed approach yields superior performance with faster transient time, larger throughput, and higher link utilization compared to two existing schemes: Random Early Detection(RED) and Proportional-Integral(PI)-based AQM. The neural AQM outperformed PI control and RED, especially in transient state and TCP dynamics variation.

A study on prediction of whipping effect of very large container ship considering multiple sea states

  • In the design stage of the very large container ships, some methodologies for the whipping effects have been developed, but most of them are based on single sea state. We developed a methodology that considers multiple sea states. Fluid-structure Interaction (FSI) analyses with one dimensional structural model were carried out to capture slamming-induced transient whipping behaviors. Because of the nature of random phases of the applied wave spectra, the required period for entire FSI analyses was determined from the convergence study where the whipping effect became stable. Low pass filtering was applied to the transient whipping responses to obtain the hull girder bending moment processes. Peak counting method for the filtered whipping responses was used to obtain collection of the vertical bending moment peaks. The whipping effect from this new method is compared with that from based on single sea state approach. The efficiency and advantage of the new methodology are presented.

  • In phase controlled rectifier, it's been known that a fast response is achieved by predictive current control without any overshoot. The frequent sampling period is essential to improve the firing accuracy in conventional predict current control. However, improving the firing accuracy if difficult to reduce the period of sampling efficiently because current sampling and predictive current control is carried out in every period and the ON-OFF current control is performed by comparing two different one. To improve the firing accuracy at the predictive current control, the calculated firing angle is loaded into the high-accuracy hardware timer. So the calculation of exact crossing point between the predictive and actual current is the most important. In this paper, the flow chart for proposed firing angle calculation algorithm is obtained for the fastest current control performance in transient state. The performance of proposed algorithm is verified through simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, emission analysis during cold start period of CVS-75 mode in LPG vehicle was performed to find out proper operating conditions of SAI(Secondary Air Injection) system. In order to meet SULEV target, the simulated emission system had a SAI system as well as a MCC(Manifold Catalytic Converter) and a UCC(Under body Catalytic Converter). Using commercial 1-D code AMESIM, in which 7 step global surface chemical reactions of Langmuir-Hinshelwood type were adopted, transient emission analysis in the exhaust system during cold start period of CVS-75 mode were carried out to figure out the effects of flow rate, duration of supply air on HC, CO, NO emission.
