CUPID 코드를 이용한 CANDU 원자로 칼란드리아 탱크 내부유동 열수력 예비 해석 (Preliminary Thermal-Hydraulic Analysis of the CANDU Reactor Moderator Tank using the CUPID Code)

  • CUPID 코드는 기기 스케일(Component scale)의 2상 유동(Two-phase flow) 해석 코드로서 다양한 2상 유동 조건의 실험 자료를 이용하여 검증되어 왔다. 특히, CUPID 코드의 CANDU형 원자로 감속재 탱크 내부 유동 해석능력을 평가하기 위해 1/4 규모 축소 실험장치의 실험결과를 이용하여 검증한 바가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이전 연구를 바탕으로 CUPID 코드를 사용하여 실제 원자로 감속재탱크 내부의 열수력 거동을 해석하였다. 감속재 탱크의 내부 구조는 아주 복잡하기 때문에 다공질 매질 방법을 적용하였으며 탱크 입구노즐 또한 기기 스케일 코드의 취지에 부합하게 아주 단순화하여 모델하였다. 해석결과의 정확성을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요소는 입구노즐의 모델 방법에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 입구노즐을 단순하게 모델하여 입구유량을 경계조건으로 부여하고 발전소 정상운전조건으로 계산한 결과, 부력에 의한 열성층화 현상이 발생하였다. 이는 전혀 타당하지 않은 것으로 입구 유동의 모멘텀을 정확하게 모의하지 않아 발생한 것이 나타났다. 이를 개선하고자 입구 유량과 운동량을 동시에 보존시킬 수 있도록 입구 노즐 면적을 축소하고 속도는 증가시켜서 계산한 결과, 사실적인 내부 유동장을 얻을 수 있었다. 결론적으로 계산 비용효과가 뛰어난 다공질 매질 방법에 입각하여 CUPID 코드를 실규모 감속재 탱크 열유동 해석에 적용할 수 있음을 보였고, 입구노즐의 적절한 모델이 가장 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다.

  • The present work proposes an improved numerical simulator for design and modification of large area capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) processing chamber. CCP, as notoriously well-known, demands the tremendously huge computational cost for carrying out transient analyses in realistic multi-dimensional models, because electron dissociations take place in a much smaller time scale (${\Delta}t{\approx}10-8{\sim}10-10$) than time scale of those happened between neutrals (${\Delta}t{\approx}10-1{\sim}10-3$), due to the rf drive frequencies of external electric field. And also, for spatial discretization of electron flux (Je), exponential scheme such as Scharfetter-Gummel method needs to be used in order to alleviate the numerical stiffness and resolve exponential change of spatial distribution of electron temperature (Te) and electron number density (Ne) in the vicinity of electrodes. Due to such computational intractability, it is prohibited to simulate CCP deposition in a three-dimension within acceptable calculation runtimes (<24 h). Under the situation where process conditions require thickness non-uniformity below 5%, however, detailed flow features of reactive gases induced from three-dimensional geometric effects such as gas distribution through the perforated plates (showerhead) should be considered. Without considering plasma chemistry, we therefore simulated flow, temperature and species fields in three-dimensional geometry first, and then, based on that data, boundary conditions of two-dimensional plasma discharge model are set. In the particular case of SiH4-NH3-N2-He CCP discharge to produce deposition of SiNxHy thin film, a cylindrical showerhead electrode reactor was studied by numerical modeling of mass, momentum and energy transports for charged particles in an axi-symmetric geometry. By solving transport equations of electron and radicals simultaneously, we observed that the way how source gases are consumed in the non-isothermal flow field and such consequences on active species production were outlined as playing the leading parts in the processes. As an example of application of the model for the prediction of the deposited thickness uniformity in a 300 mm wafer plasma processing chamber, the results were compared with the experimentally measured deposition profiles along the radius of the wafer varying inter-electrode gap. The simulation results were in good agreement with experimental data.

Enhanced Light Harvesting by Fast Charge Collection Using the ITO Nanowire Arrays in Solid State Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have generated a strong interest in the development of solid-state devices owing to their low cost and simple preparation procedures. Effort has been devoted to the study of electrolytes that allow light-to-electrical power conversion for DSSC applications. Several attempts have been made to substitute the liquid electrolyte in the original solar cells by using (2,2',7,7'-tetrakis (N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9-9'-spirobi-fluorene (spiro-OMeTAD) that act as hole conductor [1]. Although efficiencies above 3% have been reached by several groups, here the major challenging is limited photoelectrode thickness ($2{\mu}m$), which is very low due to electron diffusion length (Ln) for spiro-OMeTAD ($4.4{\mu}m$) [2]. In principle, the $TiO_2$ layer can be thicker than had been thought previously. This has important implications for the design of high-efficiency solid-state DSSCs. In the present study, we have fabricated 3-D Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO) by growing tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) nanowire (NWs) arrays via a vapor transport method [3] and mesoporous $TiO_2$ nanoparticle (NP)-based photoelectrodes were prepared using doctor blade method. Finally optimized light-harvesting solid-state DSSCs is made using 3-D TCO where electron life time is controlled the recombination rate through fast charge collection and also ITO NWs length can be controlled in the range of over $2{\mu}m$ and has been characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Structural analyses by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) results reveal that the ITO NWs formed single crystal oriented [100] direction. Also to compare the charge collection properties of conventional NPs based solid-state DSSCs with ITO NWs based solid-state DSSCs, we have studied intensity modulated photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS), intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) and transient open circuit voltages. As a result, above $4{\mu}m$ thick ITO NWs based photoelectrodes with Z907 dye shown the best performing device, exhibiting a short-circuit current density of 7.21 mA cm-2 under simulated solar emission of 100 mW cm-2 associated with an overall power conversion efficiency of 2.80 %. Finally, we achieved the efficiency of 7.5% by applying a CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite sensitizer.

Avoidance of Internal Resonances in Hemispherical Resonator Assemblies from Fused Quartz Connected by Indium Solder

  • Modern solid-state gyroscopes (HRG) with hemispherical resonators from high-purity quartz glass and special surface superfinishing and ultrathin gold coating become the best instruments for precise-grade inertial reference units (IRU) targeting long-term space missions. Designing of these sensors could be a notable contribution into development of Korea as a space nation. In participial, 40mm diameter thin-shell resonator from high-purity fused quartz, fabricated as a single-piece with its supporting stem has been designed, machined, etched, tuned, tested, and delivered by STM Co. (ATS of Ukraine) several years ago; an extremely-high Q-factor (upto 10~20 millions) has been shown. Understanding of the best way how to match such a unique sensor with inner glass assembly of the gyro means how to use the high potential in a maximal extent; and this has become the urgent task. Inner quartz glass assembly has a very thin indium (In) layer soldered the resonator and its silica base (case), but effects of internal resonances between operational modal pair of the shell-cup and its side (parasitic) modes can notable degrade the potential of the sensor as a whole, instead of so low level of resonator's intrinsic losses. Unfortunately, there are special combinations of dimensions of the parts (so-called, "resonant sizes"), when intensive losses of energy occurs. The authors proposed to use the length of stem's fixture as an additional design parameter to avoid such cases. So-called, a cyclic scheme of finite element method (FEM) and ANSYS software were employed to estimate different combinations of gyro assembly parameters. This variant has no mismatches of numerical origin due to FEM's discrete mesh. The optimum length and dangerous "resonant lengths" have been found. The special attention has been paid to analyses of 3D effects in a cup-stem transient zone, including determination of a difference between the positions of geometrical Pole of the resonant hemisphere and of its "dynamical Pole", i.e., its real zone of oscillation node. Boundary effects between the shell (cup) and 3D short "beams" (inner and outer stems) have been ranged. The results of the numerical experiments have been compared with the classic model of a quasi-hemispherical shell band with inextensional midsurface, and the solution using Rayleigh's functions of the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ kinds. To guarantee the truth of the recommended sizes to a designer of the real device, the analytical and FEM results have been compared with experimental data for a party of real resonators. The consistency of the results obtained by different means has been shown with errors less than 5%. The results notably differ from the data published earlier by different researchers.

반회후두신경 손상을 동반하지 않은 갑상선 절제술 후 음성 변화 (Voice Changes after Thyroidectomy Without Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Injury)

  • Background and Objectives : Transient minor voice changes after thyroidectomy are not infrequent complaints even in cases without any evidence of recurrent laryngeal nerve damage. However, clinical course, diagnosis and management of such voice changes are not fully understood. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics of minor voice changes after thyroidectomy. We also tried to assess the significance and feasibility of superior laryngeal nerve monitoring and to find out the optimal evaluation tools for such voice changes after thyroidectomy. Materials and Method : Nine adult patients who received total thyroidectomy without evidence of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury were enrolled for this prospective study. Voice evaluations were performed preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively ; acoustic analyses including voice range profile, aerodynamic study, stroboscopic evaluation and subjective voice assessment with questionnaires. The external branch of superior laryngeal nerve was monitored by nerve stimulator after ligation of superior thyroidal vessels. Results: Four of nine patients complained their voice change at 3 months after the surgery. Three of them reported complete recovery of their voice at 6 months after the surgery. Acoustic analysis revealed significant decrease in their phonatory range especially with high tone loss. Questionnaires related to singing was more sensitive than previously well-known "voice handicap index". Stimulation of the superior laryngeal nerve was feasible in most of the cases (94.4%), but it failed to show any correlation with minor voice changes after thyroidectomy. Conclusion : Minor voice changes were not rare events during the first 6 month after thyroidectomy. Decrease in phonatory range with high tone loss and therefore, discomfort in singing was the most common finding. Superior laryngeal monitoring was feasible but it was not a sensitive tool for the prediction of minor voice change after thyroidectomy.

건축구조물의 풍하중 구현 및 풍특성 평가를 위한 가진시스템 설계 (Design of an Excitation System for Simulating Wind-Induced Response and Evaluating Wind-load Resistance Characteristics)

  • 본 논문에서 건축구조물의 풍응답 구현을 위한 선형질량가진기(linear mass shaker, LMS)와 능동동조질량감쇠기(active tuned mass damper, ATMD)를 이용한 가진시스템을 제안한다. 가진시스템을 위한 가진기의 힘은 가진기에 의한 구조물의 목표응답의 전달함수를 사용하여 계산된다. 필터와 포락곡선함수는 예측하지 못한 모드응답에 의한 가진과 초기 과도응답을 제거함으로써 실제 바람에 의한 응답과 가진기에 의한 응답의 오차를 최소화하기 위하여 사용되었다. 수치예제로는 풍동실험을 통한 풍하중이 주어진 76층 벤치마크 구조물을 이용하여 수치해석을 수행하였으며, 그 결과는 특정층에 설치된 가진시스템은 풍하중이 전층에 가진되었을 때의 응답을 근사하게 구현할 수 있음을 보여준다. 제안된 방법에 의해 설계된 가진시스템은 실제 건축구조물의 풍응답 특성을 평가하는데, 그리고 풍하중을 받는 건물의 정확한 수치모델을 얻는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.

흑색종세포주 SK-MEL-2에서 레티노이드에 의한 GD3합성효소(hST8Sia I)의 발현억제 (Suppression of Human GD3 Synthase (hST8Sia I) Expression Induced by Retinoic Acid in Human Melanoma SK-MEL-2 Cells)

  • 흑색종세포주 SK-MEL-2에서 레티노이드에 의한 GD3합성효소(hST8Sia I)의 발현억제기작을 규명하게 위하여 hST8Sia I의 프로모터 활성을 조사해 본 결과 -1146에서 -646영역에서 레티노이드에 의한 활성억제를 나타내었다. 또한 부위특이적 변이와 ChIP분석은 -731에서 -722영역에 위치한 전사인자NF-kB 결합부위가 hST8Sia I의 레티노이드에 의한 활성억제에 중요하게 관여하고 있음을 나타내었다. 이러한 발현 억제는 PKC/ERK 신호전달경로를 통하여 일어난다는 것을 신호전달경로 저해제를 이용한 RT-PCR과 프로모터 활성조사에 의해 규명하였다.

A Prospective, Multi-Center, Double-Blind, Randomized Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of the Synthetic Bone Graft Material DBM Gel with rhBMP-2 versus DBM Gel Used during the TLIF Procedure in Patients with Lumbar Disc Disease

  • Objective : This study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) gel versus DBM gel with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) used in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). Methods : This study was designed as a prospective, multi-center, double-blind method, randomized study. All randomized subjects underwent TLIF with DBM gel with rhBMP-2 group (40 patients) as an experimental group or DBM gel group (36 patients) as a control group. Post-operative observations were performed at 12, 24, and 48 weeks. The spinal fusion rate on computed tomography scans and X-rays films, Visual analog scale pain scores, Oswestry disability index and SF-36 quality of life (QOL) scores were used for the efficacy evaluation. The incidence rate of adverse device effects (ADEs) and serious adverse device effects (SADEs) were used for safety evaluation. Results : The spinal fusion rate at 12 weeks for the DBM gel with rhBMP-2 group was higher with 73.68% compared to 58.82% for the DBM gel group. The 24 and 48 weeks were 72.22% and 82.86% for the DBM gel with rhBMP-2 group and 78.79% and 78.13%, respectively, for the DBM gel group. However, there were no significant differences between two groups in the spinal fusion rate at 12, 24, and 48 weeks post-treatment (p=0.1817, p=0.5272, p=0.6247). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence rate of ADEs (p=0.3836). For ADEs in the experimental group, 'Pyrexia' (5.00%) was the most common ADE, followed by 'Hypesthesia', 'Paresthesia', 'Transient peripheral paralysis', 'Spondylitis' and 'Insomnia' (2.50%, respectively). ADEs reported in control group included 'Pyrexia', 'Chest discomfort', 'Pain', 'Osteoarthritis', 'Nephropathy toxic', 'Neurogenic bladder', 'Liver function analyses' and 'Urticaria' (2.86%, respectively). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence rate of SADEs (p=0.6594). For SADE in the experimental group, ''Pyrexia' and 'Spondylitis' were 2.50%. SADE reported in the control group included 'Chest discomfort', 'Osteoarthritis' and 'Neurogenic bladder'. All SADEs described above were resolved after medical treatment. Conclusion : This study demonstrated that the spinal fusion rates of DBM gel group and DBM gel with rhBMP-2 group were not significantly different. But, this study provides knowledge regarding the earlier postoperative effect of rhBMP-2 containing DBM gel and also supports the idea that the longer term follow-up results are essential to confirm the safety and effectiveness.

미하마 원전경험에 대한 SGTR 사고해석 (Analyses of SGTR Accident With Mihama Unit Experience)

  • 1991년 2월 미하마원전에서 발생한 증기발생기 세관 파열사고에 대한 경험을 바탕으로, 본 사고에 대한 고리 1호기의 대처능력을 평가하기 위하여 해석을 수행하였다. 고리 1호기의 계통설계 및 운전조건은 미하마 2호기와 아주 유사하기 때문에 고리 1호기에서 발생한 가상의 증기발생기 세관 파열사고시의 사고경위 및 전개에 대한 평가가 필요하였다. 해석은 고리 1호기 EOP를 근거로 현실적으로 가능하게 수행되었다. 해석결과, 파열된 세관을 통한 누출은 사고후 약 40분 후에 정지되었으며, 고리 1호기는 유사한 증기발생기 세관 파열사고의 경우 충분한 대처능력이 있음을 보였다. 그러나, SI 신호작동후 소외전원으로 부터의 비안전등급 AC전원으로 단절되는 설계에 대한 재고가 필요하며, EOP의 운전절차가 운전원의 적절한 판단을 요구하기에는 다소 충분치 못함을 보였다. 또한 미하마 원전의 사고를 실험적으로 모사한 LSTF의 실험결과를 이용 해석코드인 RELAP5/MOD3의 평가능력에 대하여 해석을 수행하였다. 해석결과 코드는 사고 초기의 누설량 예측을 제외하고는 일반적으로 실험결과와 잘 일치하고 있음을 보였다.

신뢰성 있는 분산곡선의 결정을 위한 수동표면파 측정 및 분석기법의 제안 (A Recommendation of the Technique for Measurement and Analysis of Passive Surface Waves for a Reliable Dispersion Curve)

  • 해머나 중추 등의 순간가진원이나 진동기 등의 연속가진원을 사용하는 주동표면파기법에서는 저주파대역에서 충분한 에너지를 갖는 표면파를 얻기 어렵기 때문에, 종종 발생된 표면파의 가탐심도가 충분하지 못한 한계에 부딪힌다. 일반직인 가진원 장비로 발생되는 이러한 주동표면파의 한계는 심층지반구조를 파악할 수 없게 함으로써 지반의 정확한 지진응답해석을 어렵게 한다. 반면에 상시미동이나 주변잡음 등과 같은 수동가진원에 의해 발생된 수동표면파를 이용하면 저주파대역에서 충분한 에너지를 갖는 표면파를 얻을 수 있기 때문에 이러한 주동표면파의 단점을 극복하고 심층지반까지의 전단파속도 주상도를 얻을 수 있다. 수동표면파의 측정자료로부터 계산된 수동분산값의 신뢰도를 향상시키는 것은 보다 정확한 전단파속도 주상도를 얻기 위해 필수적이며, 수동분산값의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위해선 수동분산값에 포함되는 계통오차에 대한 올바른 이해를 바탕으로 한 수동표면파의 측정과 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 수동표면파 시험에 있어 계통오차를 발생시키는 부족한 파수해상도와 측면로브를 통한 에너지누수에 관한 연구를 수행하고 신뢰성 있는 분산곡선 결정을 위한 수동표면파의 측정 및 분석기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법을 적용한 일련의 수동표면파시험이 미국 캘리포니아주 산호세의 한 현장에서 수행되었다.
