Transient simulation capability with an implicit time derivation method is a missing feature in deterministic Boltzmann equation solvers. The H-transformation, which is critical for the stable simulation of nanoscale devices, introduces difficulties for the transient simulation. In this work, the transient simulation of graphene sheets is reported. It is shown that simulation of homogeneous systems can be done without abandoning the H-transformation, as much as a specially designed discretization method is employed. The AC mobility and step response of the graphene sheet on the $SiO_2$ substrate are simulated.

During the rapid startup transient of a centrifugal pump, in order to investigate its transient characteristics, the torque equations are deduced. Based on these equations, numerical simulation is carried out with the Large Eddy Simulation(LES) method and UDFs(User Defined Functions) are applied during the simulation. Comparison between simulation and experiment results of pump heads and rotational speed shows that they are in good agreement, indicating that the dynamic characteristics of this pump can be predicted accurate comparatively through simulation with LES method during its startup process.
When a contingency occurs in a large transmission route in a power system, it can generate various instabilities that may lead to a power system blackout. In particular, transient instability in a power system needs to be immediately addressed, and preventive measures should be in place prior to fault occurrence. Measures to achieve transient stability include system reinforcement, power generation restriction, and generator tripping. Because the interpretation of transient stability is a time domain simulation, it is difficult to determine the efficacy of proposed countermeasures using only simple simulation results. Therefore, several methods to quantify transient stability have been introduced. Among them, the single machine equivalent (SIME) method based on the equal area criterion (EAC) can quantify the degree of instability by calculating the residual acceleration energy of a generator. However, method for generator tripping effect evaluation does not have been established. In this study, we propose a method to evaluate the effect of generator tripping on transient stability that is based on the SIME method. For this purpose, the measures that reflect generator tripping in the SIME calculation are reviewed. Simulation results obtained by applying the proposed method to the IEEE 39-bus system and KEPCO system are then presented.

This paper explains hybrid method that combines Time domain simulation technique with the direct method of Transient stability analysis. First, it calculate trajectory of real system by Time domain Simulation using OOP(Object Oriented Programming method) and evaluate Transient Energy Function to induce stability index to calculate Transient stability margin. Once the status of system(stable or unstable) has been identified, proper criteria are proposed to stop time-domain simulation to reduce CPU time.
For the purpose of more effective simulation of the utility interactive WPGS(Wind Power Generation System) the SWRW (Simulation method for WPGS using Real Weather condition) is used in this paper, in which those of three topics for the WPGS simulation. user-friendly method, applicability to grid-connection and the utilization of the real weather conditions, are satisfied. The simulation of the WPGS using the real weather condition including components modeling of wind turbine system is achieved by introducing the interface method of a non-linear external parameter and FORTRAN using PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulations of steady-state and transient-state are performed effectively by the introduced simulation method. The generator output and current supplied into utility can be obtained by the steady-state simulation, and THD can be achieved by analyzing the results as well. The transient - state of the WPGS can be analyzed by the simulation results of over cut-out wind speed.
Threshold voltage shift occurring during operation is implemented in a SPICE simulation tool. Among the shift models the stretched-exponential function model, which is frequently observed from both single-crystal silicon and thin-film transistors regardless of the nature of causes, is selected, adapted to transient simulation, and added to BSIM4 developed by BSIM Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley. The adaptation method used in this research is to select degradation and recovery models based on the comparison between the gate and threshold voltages. The threshold voltage shift is extracted from SPICE transient simulation and shows the stretched-exponential time dependence for both degradation and recovery situations. The implementation method developed in this research is not limited to the stretched-exponential function model and BSIM model. The proposed method enables to perform transient simulation with threshold voltage shift in situ and will help to verify the reliability of a circuit.

This paper presents the new method of power system transient stability simulation, which combines the desirable features of both the time domain technique based on OOP(Object-oriented Programming) and the direct method of transient stability analysis using detailed generator model. OOP is an alternative to overcome the problems associated with the development, maintenance and update of large software by electrical utilities. Several papers have already evaluated this approach for power system applications in areas such as load flow, security assessment and graphical interface. This paper applied the object-oriented approach to the problem of power system dynamics simulation. The modeling method is that each block of dynamic system block diagram is implemented as an object and connected each other. In the transient energy method, the detailed synchronous generator model is so-called two-axis model. For the excitation model, IEEE type1 model is used. The developed mothed was successfully applied to New England Test System.
With ever-advancing computer technology, the Monte Carlo (MC) neutron transport calculation is expanding its application area to nuclear reactor transient analysis. Dynamic MC (DMC) neutron tracking for transient analysis requires efficient algorithms for delayed neutron generation, neutron population control, and initial condition modeling. In this paper, a new MC steady-state simulation method based on time-dependent MC neutron tracking is proposed for steady-state initial condition modeling; during this process, prompt neutron sources and delayed neutron precursors for the DMC transient simulation can easily be sampled. The DMC method, including the proposed time-dependent DMC steady-state simulation method, has been implemented in McCARD and applied for two-dimensional core kinetics problems in the time-dependent neutron transport benchmark C5G7-TD. The McCARD DMC calculation results show good agreement with results of a deterministic transport analysis code, nTRACER.
The initial condition of a core transient should be consistent with real core state for the simulation of the core tansient. The initial xenon distribution, which can not be measured in the core, has a significant effect on the transient with xenon dynamics. In the simulation of the transient starting from non-equilibrium xenon state, the accurate initialization of the non-equilibrium xenon distribution is essential for the prediction of the core transient behavior. In this study, a xenon initialization method to predict the core transient more accurately was developed through the equivalent pre-xenon-oscillation which represents the tenon oscillation before the transient and verified by the application of the simulation for a startup test of Yonggwang Unit 3.
Transient stability analysis of Korea Electric power Corporation(KEPCO) system is conducted by time simulation method, and the method is robust and reliable. But, time simulation consumes enormous computing resources and engineering time, and it does not provide a measure of the degree of stability of the system. Therefore, this method does not apply to every changed condition appropriately and quickly in planning and operating. And Transient Energy Function (TEF) method whis can assess quickly and quantatively the degree of stability of the system and which judges the stability and the instability to analyse transient dynamic charater of the system by mutual changing kinetic energy and potential energy, is developed. TEF method analyses the first Swing transient stability of the system by using the thought that if after disturbance happening, the increase of all the rotator kinetic energy changes into the potential energy after diturbance clearing, the system is stable, otherwise the system is unstable. This paper represents the availabiIity of the TEF method by comparing with time simulation method on the two cases.
