In a wind farm, a large number of small wind turbine generators (WTGs) operate whilst a small number of a large generator do in a conventional power plant. To maintain high quality and reliability of electrical energy, a wind farm should have equal performance to a thermal power plant in the transient state as well as in the steady state. The wind farm shows similar performance to the conventional power plant in the steady state due to the advanced control technologies. However, it shows quite different characteristics during fault conditions in a grid, which gives significant effects on the operation of a wind farm and the power system stability. This paper presents an analysis of response of a wind farm during grid fault conditions. During fault conditions, each WTG might produce different frequency components in the voltage. The different frequency components result in the non-fundamental frequencies in the voltage and the current of a wind farm, which is called by "beats". This phenomenon requires considerable changes of control technologies of a WTG to improve the characteristics in the transient state such as a fault ride-through requirement of a wind farm. Moreover, it may cause difficulties in protection relays of a wind farm. This paper analyzes the response of a wind farm for various fault conditions using a PSCAD/EMTDC simulator.

A study of the transition from transitory state to steady state in DSSCs based on natural dyes is presented; cochineal was used as dye and Li+, Na+, and K+ were the ions added to the electrolyte. The photocurrent profiles were obtained as a function of time. Several DSSCs were prepared with different cations and their role and the transitory-to-steady transition was determined. A novel hybrid charge carrier source model based on the Heaviside function H(t) and the Lambert-Beer law, was developed and applied to analysis of the transient response of the output photocurrent. Additionally, the maximum effective light absorption coefficient α and the electronic extraction rate κ for each ion were determined: ${\alpha}_{Li^+,Na^+,K^+}\,=\,(0.486,\,0.00085,\,0.1126)\,cm^{-1}$, and also the electronic extraction rate ${\kappa}^{Li^+,Na^+,K^+}_{ext.}\,=\,(1410,\,19.07,\,19.69)\,cm\,s^{-1}$. The impedance model using Fick's second law was developed for carrier recombination to characterize the photocurrent.
This paper describes a 2D nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) platform that combines heat flow analysis with realistic analysis of cracked reinforced concrete structures. The behavior models included in the structural analysis are mainly based on the Modified Compression Field Theory and the Distributed Stress Field Model. The heat flow analysis takes into account time-varying thermal loads and temperature-dependent material properties. The capability of 2D nonlinear transient thermal analysis is then implemented into a nonlinear finite element analysis program VecTor2(C) for 2D reinforced concrete membranes. Analyses of four numerical examples are performed using VecTor2, and results obtained indicate that the suggested nonlinear finite element analysis procedure is capable of modeling the complete response of a concrete structure to thermal and mechanical loads.
When one build a building that posses Precison production process to be sensitive to vibration and SMD to procuce a large dynamic force, how do one predict & answer vibration control problem at building structure design at first stage, That is a question. It has tried to predict dynamic response and establish answering about global or local dynamic problem in building using experimental and analysis method. One of such a try, it be proposed Semi-Empirial Method that reduce error element of input information about dynamic analysis using dynamic experimental study and measurement data in the basis of real-structure. In this paper, the dynamic response problem about RC-structure building that will be set-up SMD produce large transient dynamic force using Semi-Empirical Method.
This paper presents a novel method for modeling elastic wave propagation in long beams. The proposed method derives a solution for the transient transverse displacement of the beam's neutral axis without assuming the separation of variables (SV). By mapping the governing equation from the space domain to the frequency domain using Fourier transformation (FT), the transverse displacement function is determined as a convolution integral of external loading functions and a combination of trigonometric and Fresnel functions. This method determines the beam's response to general loading conditions as a linear combination of the analytical response of a beam subjected to an abrupt localized loading. The proposed solution method is verified through finite element analysis (FEA) and wave propagation patterns are derived for tone burst loading with specific frequency contents. The results demonstrate that the proposed solution method accurately models wave dispersion, reduces computational cost, and yields accurate results even for high-frequency loading.
In this study, computational structural vibration analyses of a smart unmanned aerial vehicle (SUAV) with tilt-rotors due to dynamic hub loads have been conducted considering detailed supporting structures of installed equipments. Three-dimensional dynamic finite element model has been constructed for different fuel conditions and tilting angles corresponding to helicopter, transition and airplane flight modes. Practical computational procedure for modal transient response analysis is successfully established. Also, dynamic loads generated by rotating blades and wakes in the transient and forward flight conditions are calculated by unsteady computational fluid dynamics technique with sliding mesh concept. As the results of present study, transient structural displacements and accelerations of the vibration sensitive equipments are presented in detail. In addition, vibration characteristics of structures and installed equipments of which safe operation is normally limited by the vibration environment specifications are physically investigated for different flight conditions.
Thermomechanical analysis is conducted on the radioactive repository in deep rock mass considering the in-situ stress, excavation and thermal loading of a radioactive waste. Thermomechanical properties of a discontinuous rock mass are estimated by a theoretical method so called sequential analysis. Using the estimated properties as input for finite element analysis, the influence on temperature distribution and thermal stress is analyzed within the scope of 2-dimensional steady state and transient heat transfer and coupled thermal elastic plastic behaviour. Granitic rock mass is taken for this analysis. The analysis is done for two different rock mass conditions, i.e. continuous-homogeneous and highly jointed conditions, for the purpose of comparison. In the case of steady state, the extent of disturbed zone around the storage tunnel due to the heat production of the spent-fuel canister varies depending on the thermomechanical properties of the rock mass. In the case of transient analyses, the response of the jointed rock mass to the thermal loading after radioactive waste disposal varies significantly with time, resulting in dramatic changes in the both size and location of disturbed zone.
This research develops a finite element code for the transient dynamic analysis of tapered fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) poles with hollow circular cross-section and flexible joints used in power transmission lines. The FRP poles are modeled by tapered beam elements and their flexible joints by a rotational spring. To solve the time equations of transient dynamic analysis, precise time integration method is utilized. In order to verify the utilized formulations, a typical jointed FRP pole under step, triangular and sine pulses is analyzed by the developed finite element code and also ANSYS commercial finite element software for comparison. Thereafter, the effect of joint flexibility on its dynamic behavior is investigated. It is observed that by increasing the joint stiffness, the amplitude of the pole tip deflection history decreases, and the time of occurrence of the maximum deflection is earlier.
The transient analysis of delaminated smart composite laminates is studied using an improved layerwise laminate theory. The theory is capable of capturing interlaminar shear stresses that are critical to delamination. The presence of discrete delamination is modeled through the use of Heaviside unit step functions. Stress free boundary conditions are enforced at all fee surfaces. Continuity in displacement field and transverse shear stresses are enforced at each ply level. In modeling piezoelectric composite plates, a coupled piezoelectric-mechanical formulation is used in the development of the constitutive equations. Numerical analysis is conducted to investigate the effect of nonlinearity in the transient vibration of bimodular behavior caused by the contact impact of delaminated interfaces. Composite plates with delamination, subject to external loads and voltage history from surface bonded sensors, are investigated and the results are compared with corresponding experimental results and plates without delamination.
Machine learning (ML) data-driven meta-model is proposed as a surrogate model to reduce the excessive computational cost of the physics-based model and facilitate the real-time prediction of a nuclear power plant's transient response. To forecast the transient response three machine learning (ML) meta-models based on recurrent neural networks (RNNs); specifically, Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and a sequence combination of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and LSTM are developed. The chosen accident scenario is a control element assembly withdrawal at power concurrent with the Loss Of Offsite Power (LOOP). The transient response was obtained using the best estimate thermal hydraulics code, MARS-KS, and cross-validated against the Design and control document (DCD). DAKOTA software is loosely coupled with MARS-KS code via a python interface to perform the Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty Quantification (BEPU) analysis and generate a time series database of the system response to train, test and validate the ML meta-models. Key uncertain parameters identified as required by the CASU methodology were propagated using the non-parametric Monte-Carlo (MC) random propagation and Latin Hypercube Sampling technique until a statistically significant database (181 samples) as required by Wilk's fifth order is achieved with 95% probability and 95% confidence level. The three ML RNN models were built and optimized with the help of the Talos tool and demonstrated excellent performance in forecasting the most probable NPP transient response. This research was guided by the Systems Engineering (SE) approach for the systematic and efficient planning and execution of the research.
