This paper focuses on an improvement in the transient performance of Boost converters when the load changes abruptly. This is achieved on the basis of the nature trajectory in Boost converters. Three key aspects of the transient performance are analyzed including the storage energy change law in the inductors and capacitors of converters during the transient process, the ideal minimum voltage deviation in the transient process, and the minimum voltage deviation control trajectory. The changing relationship curve between the voltage deviation and the recovery time is depicted through analysis and simulations when the load suddenly increases. In addition, the relationship curve between the current fluctuation and the recovery time is obtained when the load suddenly decreases. Considering the aspects of an increasing and decreasing load, this paper proposes the transient performance synthetic optimized trajectory and control laws. Through simulation and experimental results, the transient performances are compared with the other typical three control methods, and the ability of proposed synthetic trajectory and control law to achieve optimal transient performance is verified.

The insulation strength between contacts after current interruption to the transient recovery voltage i.e., the dielectric recovery strength should be estimated for the evaluation of the small capacitive current interruption capability. Many authors have used theoretical and semi-experimental approaches to evaluate the transient breakdown voltage after the current interruption. Moreover, an empirical equation, which is obtained from a series of tests, has been used to estimated the dielectric recovery strength. Un this paper, the theoretical method which is generated from the streamer theory has been applied to real circuit breakers in order to evaluated the interruption capability. The results of analysis have been compared with the test results and the reliability has been investigated.

The recent power system is required to a large size of facilities and high power technology according to increasing power demand. However, it could lead to spoiling the beauty of city and environment problem. The miniaturized facilities with large capacity such as GIS have been required in recent power system. The GIS(Gas Insulated Substation) using the SF6 insulation gas enables to miniaturize facilities with large capacity with high insulation performance. However, the substation installed GIS has required to new design model which is different from the conventional substation. The TRV(Transient Recovery Voltage) analysis on simple circuit may applied by differential equation. However, in case of relatively complicated system, EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transients Program) mainly has been used to design and simulate for transient analysis. This paper mainly design the 22.9 kV GIS system and analyze the transient recovery voltage of main circuit breaker using EMTP/RV. It also enables to easily design the other substation installed GIS with same maker and voltage level because the proposed GIS model consists of separated modules such as busbar, circuit breaker, bushing, CT, PT etc. Eventually, it contributes to comfortably compare the interrupting performance of circuit breaker and system TRV corresponding to the substation system configuration.

This paper proposes a novel scheme of fault detection and self-recovery for space-borne dual ring counters subject to transient faults. The considered ring counter is equipped with hardware redundancy, but it has a limited output domain where direct access to the current state is unavailable. We employ the theory of corrective control to detect any transient fault occurring to the counter bits and to realize immediate self-recovery of the ring counter back to the normal state. The structure of the fault-tolerant controller is designed to be minimal regardless of the counter size. To validate the applicability, we implement the proposed system on a commercial FGPA board.
A picosecond transient absorption kinetic spectrometer using a pump-probe method is presented and compared with other methods of picosecond transient absorption measurements. This constructed kinetic spectrometer detects the transient transmittance of sample using a lock-in amplifier as a function of delay time between pump and probe pulses generated from a picosecond mode-locked cw dye laser. Typical transient absorption and ground state bleach recovery kinetic profiles measured with this spectrometer are shown. Excellent kinetic curves of transient absorption or ground state bleach recovery may be obtained at single wavelengths with this spectrometer.

The transient response in TDFA(Thulium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) is theoretically investigated. The TDFA has the spectral gain band in 1.47 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The transient model includes the transient buildup of the population inversion, the pump power, the signal power and their transient variation along the fiber amplifier. The results of numerical analysis can predict the gain saturation and recovery time at the fiber amplifier. It also shows the gain saturation and recovery effect depending on the pumping and saturation rate.
Threshold voltage shift occurring during operation is implemented in a SPICE simulation tool. Among the shift models the stretched-exponential function model, which is frequently observed from both single-crystal silicon and thin-film transistors regardless of the nature of causes, is selected, adapted to transient simulation, and added to BSIM4 developed by BSIM Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley. The adaptation method used in this research is to select degradation and recovery models based on the comparison between the gate and threshold voltages. The threshold voltage shift is extracted from SPICE transient simulation and shows the stretched-exponential time dependence for both degradation and recovery situations. The implementation method developed in this research is not limited to the stretched-exponential function model and BSIM model. The proposed method enables to perform transient simulation with threshold voltage shift in situ and will help to verify the reliability of a circuit.
Objective : Transient anterograde amnesia is occasionally observed in a number of conditions, including migraine, focal ischemia, venous flow abnormalities, and after general anesthesia. The inhalation anesthetic, isoflurane, is known to induce transient anterograde amnesia. We examined the involvement of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) in the underlying mechanisms of the isoflurane-induced transient anterograde amnesia. Methods : Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups : the control group, the 10 minutes after recovery from isoflurane anesthesia group, and the 2 hours after recovery from isoflurane anesthesia group (n=8 in each group). The rats in the isoflurane-exposed groups were anesthetized with 1.2% isoflurane in 75% nitrous oxide and 25% oxygen for 2 hours in a Plexiglas anesthetizing chamber. Short-term memory was determined using the step-down avoidance task. BDNF and TrkB expressions in the hippocampus were evaluated by immunofluorescence staining and western blot analysis. Results : Latency in the step-down avoidance task was decreased 10 minutes after recovery from isoflurane anesthesia, whereas it recovered to the control level 2 hours after isoflurane anesthesia. The expressions of BDNF and TrkB in the hippocampus were decreased immediately after isoflurane anesthesia but were increased 2 hours after isoflurane anesthesia. Conclusion : In this study, isoflurane anesthesia induced transient anterograde amnesia, and the expressions of BDNF and TrkB in the hippocampus might be involved in the underlying mechanisms of this transient anterograde amnesia.

The application of series compensator in a power system affects other devices such as circuit breakers transient recovery voltage (TRV) problem. In this paper, we analyze the TRV effect on a line circuit breaker in the cases with and without thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) via simulation, and suggest an effective method to overcome the increase of TRV due to the TCSC installation. It also discusses the impact of proposed protection on metal oxide varistor (MOV). A 345 kV transmission line in Korea was selected as a study case. Grid system was modelled using PSCAD (Power Systems Computer Aided Design) / EMTDC(Electro Magnetic Transient Direct Current). The TRV was analyzed by implementing a short circuit fault along the transmission line and at the breaker terminal. The proposed protection scheme, the TRV satisfies the standard. However, the MOV energy capacity increased as the delay time increased. This result can solve the TRV problem caused by the expected transmission line fault in a practical power system.

A high resolution picosecond absorption kinetic spectrometer utilizing dye emission and a streak camera is presented and compared with other methods of picosecond transient absorption measurements. Typical transient absorption and bleach recovery kinetics measured with this spectrometer are shown. Single wavelength transient absorption or ground state bleach recovery kinetics are determined on the basis of a single laser shot, so that the samples are relatively free frm decomposition by irradiation. Excellent kinetics may be obtained from the near UV to the near IR and are not subject to interference from luminescence of samples. The sensitivity of this spectrometer is very high and it is reasonably easy and convenient to set up and use.
