  • This Study is to analize the transfiguration of the domestic architecture in the process of modernization. Thirty two houses which were located in Taegu province and constructed during the period from 1886 to 1945, were surveyed and analized about the characteristic and their transfiguration. The modern domestic architecture of Taegu province had been constructed greatly by the missonaries and Japanes. The history of development of modern houses in Teagu province can be devided into three period in accordance with the economic policy, housing style and the method of construction. The first period (1886-1910) was the beginning of the modern house. Most of the mission houses of that period were made with brick structure of korean-western style or colonial style. In the second period (1911-1926), colonial, Japanese-western, Japanese housing style were co-exited in Teagu province. During the third period (1927-1945) new method of construction using reinforced concrete and mortar was introduced, therefore the houses become row house (a two or three-family house) and much simpler.

  • In the course of modernization coupled with industrialization and urbanization. Maru or wooden floor and Teachong or great hall of Han-ok or traditional Korean housing has experienced functional as well as physical changes to a remarkable degree. The author made an analysis of the transfiguration of Maru/Taechong space(M/T) with relation to: 1)Madang or yard. 2)Anbang or inner room, 3)Hyon-kwan or vestibule. 1) In relation to Madang, interiorization of M/T by way of setting sliding glass doors has begun to appear. 2) In connection with Anbang, division of role/function is being observed as far as family entertainment and reception of intimate friends is concerned. 3) Owing to wider acceptance of Hyon-kwan space as a buffer zone system, the advent of Keo-sil or living room is thought to be facilitated. The analysis, however, does not say that Keo-sil of modernized Korean housing might well be interpreted as the mere extension type of M/T of the vernacular housing.

  • The transformation of plots using the archetypical narratives is not just a repetition of the past story, but finding a new suitable meaning for present time and society. Due to this, the story can be variated depending on what the transformation has the main point for. Disney's animation overcomes the narrative feature of the past classic fairy tale that worked only for particular age and people, and recognized as a contemporary story that can give impression to more various people. This study use Vladimir Propp's Morphology of the Folktale, Carl Gustav Jung's complexes and shadow theory to examine how this animation is modernly recreated by transforming the archetypical narrative. As a result, we can find characteristics of structure and function for contemporary story, and those also work with characters in the recreated animation. Through this study we discovered that Disney's animation is a transfiguration of archetypical narrative through the exhaustive analysis, and this could be the helpful research for the future creation of animation which uses the archetypical narratives.

  • The effects of high-temperature process required to fabricate the SiC devices on the surface morphology and the electrical characteristics were investigated for 4H-SiC Schottky diodes. The 4H-SiC diodes without a graphite cap layer as a protection layer showed catastrophic increase in an excess current at a forward bias and a leakage current at a reverse bias after high-temperature annealing process. Moreover it seemed to deviate from the conventional Schottky characteristics and to operate as an ohmic contact at the low bias regime. However, the 4H-SiC diodes with the graphite cap still exhibited their good electrical characteristics in spite of a slight increase in the leakage current. Therefore, we found that the graphite cap layer serves well as the protection layer of silicon carbide surface during high-temperature annealing. Based on a closer analysis on electric characteristics, a conductive surface transfiguration layer was suspected to form on the surface of diodes without the graphite cap layer during high-temperature annealing. After removing the surface transfiguration layer using ICP-RIE, Schottky diode without the graphite cap layer and having poor electrical characteristics showed a dramatic improvement in its characteristics including the ideality factor[${\eta}$] of 1.23, the schottky barrier height[${\Phi}$] of 1.39 eV, and the leakage current of $7.75\{times}10^{-8}\;A/cm^{2}$ at the reverse bias of -10 V.

  • When expressing Christ visually in the medieval Christian painting, the most important issue was how to express the divinity as Son of God and the humanity as attribute of human in a balanced manner. The purpose of the study is to examine both formative and symbolic characters of divinity and humanity on the Christ's body and clothes in the Medieval paintings, Transfiguration of Christ. In the paintings, Christ's body is definite evidence to show both his divinity and humanity. In connection with the body, the clothes reveal Christ's humanity and divinity as well. Through this research, the study found that the divinity and humanity on the Christ's clothes in the Transfiguration of Christ were as follows: Blue, gold, purple, white and bleaching effect are the emblem of divinity, and red and color contrast effect with a high chroma stand for humanity of Christ. In addition, unstructured wrinkles of clothes reveal Christ's divinity, on the other hand, structured drapery shows his humanity through emphasizing volume of the body. Finally, divinity of Christ is shown on the gold clavus and red clavus intensify his humanity. Medieval Christian paintings are products planned out to express Christ's dual nature. There is a significance that the paintings represent the profession of painter's faith and the dogma of the era. Furthermore, they suggest the importance of the image to deliver the abstract concepts by visualizing.

  • This study is to analyze the transfiguration of the plan of the Japanese-Western eclectic houses in the process of the change in the living style and modernization. Twenty four Japanese-Western eclectic houses. which were located in Teagu Province and constructed during the period from the end of 19th century to the year 1945. were surveyed and analized about the original plans and the process of their spatial tranfituration. The results of this study are as follews 1) In the original plans. the bathroom, toilet and entrance hall in the residential space and HUSMA(wooden sliding doors) for separation of the rooms had been installed. 2) After the Liberation. the rooms of the residential space had been transfigured from TADAMI. JASHIKI. kitchen and toilet etc. to ONDOL. ANBANG. kitchen and toilet etc of the Korean traditional style. From 1980's they composed of living room, dining room and entrance hall of the Western-style. 3) From the liberation to 1960's. each room of residential space had been transtigured greatly form the Japanese style into the Korean style. Thus as the entrance hall. bathroom and TADAMI has been disappeared. DNDOL and MARU reappeared. Since 1980's bathroom diningroom and entrance hall ef the Western-style have recomposed in their residential space. But ANBANG is still used as a major living space in the surveyed houses.

  • Recently, the interest is increased rapidly about the New Hanok as contemporary house. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to recognize New Hanok as valuable things, which represents traditionality of urban, and to seek how it can be developed as contemporary house. This research analyze the characteristics of New Hanok is built since 2000. The result are as followings. First, many contemporary architects used only the roofing tiles and traditional Hanok elevation design as the design vocabulary of New Hanok. In future, the design vocabulary of New Hanok must be developed variously. Secondly, the construction of New Hanok is possible from the land of minimum $100m^2$ in a city can be found. Thirdly, as a result of having analyzed at the form and the spatial side, it has been analyzed that New Hanok can be divided into 3 types in the form side, which is 'the transfiguration of format', 'the motive borrowing of traditional elements', 'the vertical extension and reconstruction'. In the spatial side, it has been analyzed that New Hanok can be divided into 3 types, which is 'the center of Madang', 'the integration of circulation', 'the transfiguration of design principle'. Lastly, The contemporary architects were analyzed into having a thought that New Hanok must maintain an appearance of Hanok.

  • Works recreated modernly succeeding classics often appear in novels, plays and movies. Observing 'modern succession and transfiguration of classics', 1 became curious about 'recreation of classics' in Sijo genre, and in that interest this thesis begins the argument. I identified that many Sijo are recreations of classics, and also classical literature are continually being transformed into modern Sijo. Especially Sijo of Lee Guang-Soo in 1920s and Sijo of Cho Un In 1940s are pioneering works. Thereafter modern Sijo have been continuously recreated from classics. This paper is about what are the meanings of modern Sijo in this category, and how should they advance. Also this argument will indicate how Sijo will be created in the future. Transforming classics into modern works is a valuable task, because it succeeds traditional culture and connects the classics' age to the modem age. For example, the Sijo of Lee Guang-Soo and Cho Un have significance in terms of literature history. The problem lies in modern Sijo that is creatively experimenting with classics succeeding those. Many modem Sijo are created attaching too much importance to the technique of contents, not comprehending the structural principles and formal aesthetics of Sijo. Thus, Sijo that adopt classics modernly reveals the limit of creation. Furthermore, recreating Sijo with the original contents untouched has no meaning at all. From this standpoint, modern Sijo recreated from classics can be reasonable only when they reflect the life, culture. and reality of present and comprehend the formal aesthetics of Sijo.
