A Study on the 900MHz FDD Tranceiver for the Vessel (900MHz대 FDD방식을 이용한 선내용 Tranceiver에 관한 연구)

  • The portable two way radio telephone amongst GMDSS equipment in the vessel is very important portable wireless one for search and rescue in distress situation. Although the portable two way radio telephone must be equipped with in the vessel by IMO & RR, other kinds of wireless tranceivers are widely used to communicate with crew members who are separately appointed at bridge forecastle and poop in leaving or arriving at the port, passing through a narrow canal or voyaging in the foggy weather, Most of those wireless tranceivers except portable two way radio telephone are allocated at 27MHz band with PTT simplex system that makes crew members difficult to work effectively in the vessel. In this research 900MHz band FDD(frequency duplex division) tranceiver system is studied to help crew members in the vessel to communicate with themselves freely and to work easily meanwhile with simple operation. 900MHz band FDD tranceiver system uses one chip FM frontend IC to realize the miniaturization and downsizing of tranceiver and small size head set attached to helmet. The credibility of this research's result is highly evaluated by circuit analysis with computer aided simulation, and partly modified 900MHz band cordless phone circuit.

  • Power amplifier of wireless communication tranceiver can be effectually controlled output power. And small size and low power dissipation are indispensable to portable system. In this paper, to reduce the size of portable tranceiver, inductor is integrated in a single chip. And to reduce power dissipation, a power amplifier that can be digitally controlled output power, is proposed and designed.

  • This paper deals with the development of RACOM(Radar Signal Detecting & Processing Computer). RACOM is a radar display system specially designed for radar scan conversion, signal processing and PCI radar image display. RACOM contains two components; i )RSP(Radar Signal Processor) board which is a PCI based board for receiving video, trigger, heading & bearing signals from radar scanner & tranceiver units and processing these signals to generate high resolution radar image, and ⅱ)Applications which perform ordinary radar display functions such as EBL, VRM and so on. Since RACOM is designed to meet a wide variety of specifications(type of output signal from tranceiver unit), to record radar images and to distribute those images in real time to everywhere in a networked environment, it can be applicable to AIS(Automatic Identification System) and VDR(Voyage Data Recorder).

  • In this work, a highly integrated downconverter MMIC employing HBT(heterojunction bipolar transistor) was developed for application to one chip tranceiver solution of Ku-band commercial wireless communication system. The downconverter MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) includes mixer filter. amplifier and input/output matching circuit. Especially, spiral inductor structures employing SiN film were used for a suppression of LO and its second harmonic leakage signals. Concretely, they were properly designed so that the self-resonance frequency was accurately tuned to LO and its second harmonic frequency, and they were integrated on the downconverter MMIC.

  • Recently, Switching time is the principal factor in a design of frerquency synthesizer for Spread-Spectrum Communications. fast switching frequency synthesizer is important to improve the channel efficiency in a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FH-SS) tranceiver. In this paper, we design the frequency synthesizer with fast switching time as fast as 1${\mu}\textrm{s}$. In frequency synthesizer design, we use the interpolated PLL method inserted memory Look-up table of DDS to reduce switching time, and have result of improved channel efficiency about 20% by applying to FH-SS Transceiver.

  • This paper presents a method of compensating for the gain and phase imbalance of quadrature modulator and demodulator. The gain and phase imbalance are compensated using the received power after the compensation pattern was transmitted at tranceiver. The proposed method is less vulnerable to changes in the transmission channel than the conventional method because compensation is made possible within the tranceiver system, and even the change in phase mblance in accordance with frequency can be compensated utilizing the adaptive algorithm. According to numerical results, a normalized eye opening and a bit error rate are improved by 1.8dB and 3.8dB, respectively.

  • Ultra Wideband(UWB) system uses wide band signal, which power spectral density likes as a noise floor, so UWB system can be used high speed communication without interfering with other communication system. As this system doesn't use carrier, its structure would be very simple and consume very low power. But conventional UWB system uses Pulse Positioning Modulation(PPM) Method. Therefore it could be to produce discrete power spectrum which decreases system efficiency unintentionally. For eliminating discrete power spectrum and further Euclidean distance, we propose UWB system using Antipodal signal. And we design and simulate antipodal tranceiver using Advanced Design System(ADS).
