Recently, the demand for micro hard disk drive that provides high-capacity removable storage for handhold electronic devices is growing very rapidly Reducing power consumption is one of the primary control objectives in micro disk drives. The input power delivered to the seek servo system is consumed as heat by the transistors of power amplifier and motor coil resistance. In this paper, we present a new seek servo controller for minimizing the power consumption. We use a Fourier decomposition and nonlinear programming to determine the optimum seek profile that minimizes the power consumption. Also, the trajectory tracking controller is developed for exact tracking of the optimum seek profile. Finally, we present some experimental results using a commercially available micro disk drive in order to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed controller.

This paper proposes the look ahead algorithm with the trapezoidal velocity trajectory in each G-code block. The algorithm requires the information on the length of next trajectories and the connecting angle between each trajectiories. A method of generating the maximum corner velocity upon the connecting angle within the machining tolerance is developed and applied to the look ahead algorithm. Simulations and experiments witha machining center show the effectiveness of the methodology.

An optical method of slit beam scanning topography is presented for the 3-dimensional profile measurement of free-formed surfaces. A slit beam of laser is projected in a scanning mode and its illuminated trajectory on the object is captured by using a CCD camera. The 3-dimensional coordinates of the trajectory is then computed by using the given geometry between the slit beam and the camera, so that the whole surface profile of the object can be obtained in a successive manner. Detailed optical principles are described with special emphasis to lateral are discussed to demonstrate the measuring performances of the slit beam scanning topography proposed in this study.

The etching technology of the high aspect ratio contact(HARC) is necessary at the critical contact processes of semiconductor devices. Etching the $SiO_{2}$ contact hole with the sub-micron design rule in manufacturing VLSI devices, the unexpected phenomenon of 'profile tilting' or 'bottom distortion' is often observed. This makes a short circuit between neighboring contact holes, which causes to drop seriously the device yield. As the aspect ratio of contact holes increases, the high C/F ratio gases, $C_{4}F_{6}$, $C_{4}F_{8}$ and $C_{5}F_{8}$, become widely used in order to minimize the mask layer loss during the etching process. These gases provide abundant fluorocarbon polymer as well as high selectivity to the mask layer, and the polymer with high sticking yield accumulates at the top-wall of the contact hole. During the etch process, many electrons are accumulated around the asymmetric hole mouth to distort the electric field, and this distorts the ion trajectory arriving at the hole bottom. These ions with the distorted trajectory induce the deformation of the hole bottom, which is called 'profile tilting' or 'bottom distortion'. To prevent this phenomenon, three methods are suggested here. 1) Using lower C/F ratio gases, $CF_{4}$ or $C_{3}F_{8}$, the amount of the Polymer at the hole mouth is reduced to minimize the asymmetry of the hole top. 2) The number of the neighboring holes with equal distance is maximized to get the more symmetry of the oxygen distribution around the hole. 3) The dual frequency plasma source is used to release the excessive charge build-up at the hole mouth. From the suggested methods, we have obtained the nearly circular hole bottom, which Implies that the ion trajectory Incident on the hole bottom is symmetry.
In this paper, the Direct Learning Control is applied to robot's trajectory tracking control to solve the problem that lies in the existing Iterative Learning Control(ILC) and the tracking Performance is analyzed and the better approach is searched using computer simulation and experiments. It is assumed that the Direct Learning Control(DLC) is saved onto memory basically after obtaining control input Profiles for several Periodic output trajectories using the ILC. In case the new output trajectory has special relations with the previous output trajectories, there is an advantage that the desired control input profile can be obtained without iterative executions only using the DLC. The robot's tracking control system is comprised of DSP chip. A/D converter, D/A converter and high-speed pulse counter included in the control board and the performance is examined by carrying out the tracking control for the given output trajectory.
In this paper, a new revolute mobile robot arm with five degree of freedom (d.o.f) was developed for autonomous moving robots. As a control system for the robot arm, a distributed control system composed of the main controller and five motor controllers for arm joints was developed. The main controller and the motor controllers w ε re developed using the ARM microprocessor and the TMS320c2407 microprocessor, respectively. A new trajectory tracking algorithm for the motor controllers was devised employing pre-generated off-line trajectory data. Also, a 3-D simulator based on the openGL software to simulate the motion of the robot arm was developed. To validate the performance of the robot system, experiments to track a specified trajectory were performed.

This paper presents an iterative learning control (ILC) approach for tracking problems with specified data points that are desired points at certain time instants. To design ILC systems for such problems, unlike traditional ILC approaches, an algorithm which updates not only the control signal but also the reference trajectory at each trial will be developed. The relationship between the reference trajectory and ILC control in tracking problems where there are specified data points through which the system should pass is investigated as the rate of convergence. In traditional ILC, the desired data is stored in a tracking profile file. Due to the huge size of the data file containing the target points, it is important to reduce the computational cost. Finally, simulation results of the presented technique are mentioned and compared to other related works to confirm the effectiveness of proposed scheme.

This paper provides the end-point positioning of a single-link flexible robot arm by inverse dynamics. The system is composed of a flexible arm, the mobile ballscrew stage as an arm base, a DC servomotor as an actuator, and a computer. Actuator voltages required for the model of a flexible arm to follow a given tip trajectory are formulated on the basis of the Bermoullie-Euler beam theory and solved by applying the Laplace transform method, and computed by the numerical inversion method proposed by Weeks. The mobile stage as the arm base is shifted so that the end-point follows the desired trajectories. Then the trajectory of end-point is measured by the laser displacement sensor. Here, two kinds of functions are chosen for the given tip trajectories. One is what is called the bang-bang acceleration profile and the other is the Gaussian velocity profile.
The spherical aberration and optical integer (f) of the electron gun's main lens in color CRT is obtained, using electron beam trajectory. A spherical aberration is obtained from the relation between the object plane and the image of a beam trajectory. To analyze beam profile, 3rd and 1st order coefficient were obtained and used. It is shown that, in practice, they are applied to electron gun design.

This paper introduces a compensating system for machining error, which is resulted from chucking with separated jaws. In machining the chucked cylindrical workpiece, the deterioration of machining accuracy, such as out-of-roundness is inevitable due to the variation of the radial compliance of the chuck workpiece system which is caused by the position of jaws with respect to the direction of the applied force. To compensate the chucking compliance induced error, firstly roundness profile of workpiece due to chucking compliance after machining needs to be predicted. Then using this predicted profile, the compensated tool feed trajectory can be generated. And by synchronizing the cutting tool feed system with workpiece rotation, the chucking compliance induced error can be compensated. To satisfy the condition that the cutting tool feed system must provide high speed and high position accuracy, brushless linear DC motor is used. In this study, firstly through the force-deflection experiment in workpiece chucked lathe, the variation of radial compliance of chuck workpiece system is obtained. Secondly using the mathematical equation and cutting experiment result, the predicted profile of workpiece and its compensation tool trajectory are generated. Thirdly the configuration of compensation system using linear motor is introduced, and to improve the system performance, PID controller is designed. Finally the tracking performance of system is examined by experiment. Through the real cutting experiment, roundness is significantly improved.
