Background: To investigate how many rookie pitchers suffered from injuries while playing in the amateur league without guidelines for prevention of excessive pitching, we analyzed their amateur pitching patterns based on the pitch count, use of breaking balls, and pitches during winter camp. Methods: Forty-one rookie pitchers who graduated from high school or university in 2013 and joined professional baseball teams. Participants were interviewed by a trainer using our questionnaire. Injury inclusion criteria were 1) history of shoulder surgery, 2) history of elbow surgery, 3) shoulder pain requiring treatment, and 4) elbow pain requiring treatment. Results: Mean number of pitches per game and warm-up pitches for practice was 84.5 pitches (range, 15 to 130 pitches) and 16.4 pitches (range, 2 to 210 pitches), respectively. Mean number of pitches during the last year was 906.9 (range, 80 to 2,000). Mean number of maximal pitches was 127 pitches (range, 50 to 210 pitches). Fourteen pitchers had pitched over 150 pitches. Twenty-seven pitchers (65.9%) had pitched in spite of enduring pain. During winter training (mean 1.8 months), mean number of pitches per day was 162.5 pitches, and 20 pitchers (48.8%) had practiced pitching excessively despite the cold weather. Twenty-six rookies (63.4%) had shoulder pain or history of shoulder surgery, and 31 pitchers (75.6%) had elbow pain or history of elbow surgery. Only four participants (9.8%) did not have pain and history of surgery. Conclusions: For young baseball pitchers, guidelines for prevention of excessive pitching and for regulating the winter training program may be needed.
PURPOSE: According to advanced research, the effect of foot type on balance is 3 type. There are squared foot, morton's foot and Egyptian foot. Above all, Morton's foot accounts for 22% of people. The purpose of this study is to find the effect of Morton's Foot on Balance Ability. METHODS: Twenty healthy woman participate in this study(Mean age:23.93; Mean height: 163.35; Mean weight: 56.20). They doesn't have musculoskeletal or neurogical disorder. Ten of participants have morton's foot group, and another ten person are normal foot group. Measurment of balance was used by Balance trainer(BT4) and balance pad(AIREX). Data analyzed in 3 way ANOVA. RESULTS: In foot type and support type of variables, Morton's foot was significant differences in C90 area and Velocity. There was no significant difference between foot type and visual condition. In support type and visual condition of variables, unstable support significantly decreased in Tracelength, C90area and Velocity. If we find out correlationship of foot type, visual condition and support condition, There didn't have relationship each other. CONCLUSION: This study found that correlationship of foot type, visual condition and support condition. But, there are no significant differences. Nevertheless, These results will also be able to offer baseline data about Morton's foot study in future.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of a simulation training of BLS in paramedics in pre-hospital situation. This a nonequivalence control quasi-experimental study. The study subjects were 8 paramedics of experimental group and 8 paramedics of control group in K fire department. An informed consent was written by the subjects after explaining of the purpose of the study. The study methods consisted of conventional education and practice training. The conventional education was done for 30 minutes and the practice training was taken by four trainees of one group and the instructor demonstrated Basic Iife Support (BLS) performance for three minutes. Each trainer peformed BLS for ten minutes. In the beginning of the course, two paramedics got off from the ambulance and performed BLS including 5 cycles of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Soon after the BLS, another two paramedics performed pre-hospital BLS survey. The education was guided by two professors of emergency medical technology, two Basic Iife Support instructors, and two emergency rescue directors. Pre-hospital BLS was measured by a 5-point Likert scale. Higher score means higher performance skills. The data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0 program set at significance level of p<05. The effect of simulation education was much more significant than the conventional education in BLS. The simulation education is very important and effective in improving the clinical performance skills of paramedics than the conventional education. The simulation education can provide the virtual environment of cardiac arrest to the paramedics. In conclusion, the simulation education can provide the effective teaching methods for various practice performance skills and solution by critical thinking in the paramedics and healthcare providers in the future.

Hymenodictyon orixensis (Roxb.) Mabberley (locally known as Bhutum in Bangladesh) is both an ecologically and economically valuable multipurpose tree species for afforestation and reforestation programs in Bangladesh. Seed germination and seedling development study of H. orixense were conducted to find out the response to different growing medium, e.g., polybag (15×10 cm (T0) and 20×15 cm (T1)), sand medium in propagator house (T2), conventional nursery bed (T3), and root trainer (T4) in the Nursery. Consequently, germination behavior and seedling morphological parameters of H. orixense were assessed. The results revealed that the sand medium of the propagator house (T2) provided the highest germination % (58.57±22.30) and the highest germination energy (11.43±2.43) followed by seedlings growing in 20×15 cm polybags (T1) containing forest topsoil and cow-dung at a ratio of 3:1. Except for germination energy, germination values, and germination capacity, other seed biology parameters, particularly imbibition, germination period, germination rate, and plant survival percent in T1, T2, T3, and T4 were significantly (p<0.05) different from T0. Each phenotypic parameter of seedlings and dry matter of shoot and root significantly differed from control except root length (p<0.992). Based on this study, Polybags of 20×15 cm size are regarded as the best medium for quality seedling development of H. orixense. The nursery bed (T3) had the lowest germination performance and developed more inferior quality seedlings. Thereby, 20×15 cm size of polybags with conventional soil and cow-dung media is recommended for maximum germination and to grow the quality seedlings of H. orixense in the Nursery.
This study compared the pattern of purchasing nutritional supplements and obtaining nutrition information and the Nutrition Quotient of adults who exercise regularly according to the frequency of muscle training (LM, muscle training less than two days/week; MM, 2~3 days/week; HM, more than three days/week). Compared to the other groups, significantly more men in the HM group answered that they had purchased supplements and would repurchase them. They presented "increasing muscle mass" as the purpose of buying them and "types and contents" as the major factor to consider before buying. The supplements that significantly more subjects in the HM group purchased than in the other groups were protein supplements, BCAA (Branched-chain amino acid), arginine, and caffeine supplements for men and protein supplements, BCAA and carnitine for women. Compared to the other groups, significantly more men and women in the HM group reported "trainer" as the major source of nutrition information, and significantly more men in the HM group reported "increasing muscle mass" as the 1st topic of nutrition education that they wanted to receive and were satisfied with the information that they obtained. Most of all, males and females in the HM group had significantly a higher Nutrition Quotient than in the other groups. The differences between males and females in variables regarding exercise, the patterns of using supplements and acquiring nutrition information, and Nutrition Quotient were also found. These results can provide basic data for developing educational materials emphasizing the wise consumption of nutrition information, including supplement intake.
Purpose : This study was conducted to determine the effect of intervention using a smartphone application on abdominal muscle thickness and maximum voluntary ventilation when conducting pelvic floor muscle exercise (PFME). Methods : This study was performed on 14 subjects. They were divided into two groups; PFME using smartphone application (n=7), common PFME (n=7). Both of group executed the exercise 5 times a week for 1 weeks. Abdominal muscle thickness was measured using ultrasound. Maximum voluntary ventilation was measured using a spirometer. The smartphone application used the paid version of Kegel trainer. This material was analyzed by the paired t-test to compare differences on each group and the independent t-test to compare between the two groups. Results : The PFME group using the smartphone application showed a significant increase in the transverse abdominis and internal oblique muscles (p<.05). The common PFME group showed a significant increase in the internal oblique muscle (p<.05). There was no significant difference in variation of the muscle thickness between the two groups (p>.05). The PFME group using the smartphone application showed a significant increase in the maximal voluntary ventilation (p<.05). There was no significant difference in variation of the maximal voluntary ventilation between the two groups (p>.05). Conclusion : As a results of this study, PFME using a smartphone application seems to induce voluntary participation of subjects and maintain continuity against time constraints. As a result, it is thought that using a smartphone application when performing PFME is efficient and convenient in terms of research method. However, this study is difficult to generalize due to the small number of subjects and short intervention period. Therefore, additional research should be conducted by modifying and supplementing these limitations.
Purpose: This systematic review aims to determine whether robot-assisted training is more effective in gait training for persons with subacute hemiparetic stroke. Methods: This study adopted a systematic review study design focused on subacute hemiparetic stroke, and four core academic databases were searched until June 11, 2021, for relevant studies, including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and ProQuest Central. The review included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the effects of robotic-assisted training on gait performance in persons with a diagnosis of subacute hemiparetic stroke. The selected RCT studies were qualitatively synthesized based on the population, intervention, comparison, outcome, settings, and study design (PICOS-SD). Results: The study selected five RCTs involving 253 subacute hemiparetic stroke patients and performing robotic-assisted gait training using the following devices: the Lokomat, Morning Walk, Walkbot, ProStep Plus, or Gait Trainer II. Five RCTs were eligible for the meta-analysis after quantitative synthesis, and the results showed that the robot-assisted gait training group had a greater gait performance than the control group based on the 10-meter walk test, Berg balance scale, Rivermed mobility index, functional ambulation category, and modified Barthel index. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the gait performance of subacute hemiparetic stroke patients changes throughout robot-assisted gait training, but there were no indications that any of the clinically relevant effects of robot-assisted training are greater than those of conventional gait training. Further, the small sample size and different therapeutic intensities indicate that definitive conclusions could not be made.
PURPOSE: This study examined the comparative effects of an ankle sensorimotor training program combined with hip strengthening exercise (ASTPCHSE) and ankle sensorimotor training program (ASTP) alone on muscle strength, static balance, and dynamic balance in individuals with functional ankle instability. METHODS: Sixteen research participants with functional ankle instability were enrolled in this study. The participants were divided randomly into the ankle sensory motor training program group and the ankle sensory motor training program combined with the hip strengthening exercise group. Each group performed a series of exercise programs two times per week for four weeks. The Cumberland ankle instability tool (CAIT) was used to measure the participants' functional ankle instability. A Balance trainer 4 was applied to assess the static and dynamic balance, and a Primus RS multimodal dynamometer was used to evaluate the muscle strength. RESULTS: No significant differences in static balance, dynamic balance, and muscle strength were found between the ASTP and ASTPCHSE groups (p > .05). On the other hand, the dynamic balance and muscle strength improved in the ASTP and ASTPCHSE groups after the intervention (p < .05). The static balance was not enhanced in both groups after the intervention (p > .05). CONCLUSION: Ankle exercise and an ankle sensorimotor training program combined with hip strengthening exercise are effective in improving muscle strength and dynamic balance in individuals with ankle instability. On the other hand, there are no meaningful differences between ankle exercise and ankle and hip combined exercise.
