  • Operation data and fault data are recorded at the TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) of train are very important record for repairs and inspection of train. there are two ways to transfer the data today. one is using memory card and the other is using wireless communications. This paper is proposed about TCMS wireless depot analytical equipment that transfers data recorded in train to depot equipment via wireless method. The TCMS wireless depot equipment configuration is an AP(Access Point) and a central server PC at depot equipment. This method has the advantage of decrease of personnel expenses, collection time and convenience of staffs. This paper is verified about the utility of use, efficient establishment position of an AP at depot, the safety of data receiving, the exactitude of data and the shortening of transmission time. and this equipment is now operating at shin-jeong depot of SeoulMetro.

  • In the case of the existing train control system, the driver monitors the condition of the vehicle through a composite controller device that displays various information on a screen in the vehicle. However, when problems arise such as car trouble, it is difficult for the drivers to take action immediately. In addition, maintenance personnel have to manually save data one by one after storing the vehicle to analyze control information of the main devices such as the brake controller and auxiliary power. To improve these points, a system that sends and receives all information in real time should be established by installing a sensor communication network and a surveillance system. This study attempts to improve the safety and maintenance of rail vehicles by suggesting a standardized method for train control and surveillance system.

  • Recently, we developed a new subway train with many cooperative companies. The main controller of the subway train is Control and Monitoring System (TCMS), so we conducted requirement analysis of TCMS considering system performance, easy maintenance and service oriented flexibility. Hence, we adopted new bus architecture and QNX as a Real-time Operating System (RTOS) and developed hardware systems. The functions of TCMS are employed into two computers, service computer and control/monitor computer, to increase on their performance and to yield easy maintenance and to satisfy customer needs. The TCMS controls and monitors control devices equipped in the train through various protocols which are implemented in hardware. In order to evaluate the performance of the system and to satisfy reliability, various experiments including EMC/ECI were performed. Now the TCMS is installed on the newly developed train and is under performance evaluation through test driving.

  • The real-time monitoring and controlling between the interior and the field signaling security devices is a necessity for the train safety in terms of the train operating plan. The type wiring lower the safety level of signaling security device, because too much wiring makes the maintenance more difficult and it might be have a problem of an induction field and contact. It also need high cost. The single network communication(Fieldbus) does not need that much wiring, and the maintenance will be easier. It also guarantee the high level of stability.

  • The Public Address and Passenger Information System of Rolling Stock should be able to perform automatic announcements in connection with TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), common announcements and emergency announcements for safe operation and the passengers. CCTV(Closed Circuit Television) System also should be able to watch passenger compartment for safety. Those equipments are very important thing for train service and safety. but the installation of equipment is restricted by space, weight, modulation. therefore, Passenger Information Intergrated System(PIIS) is required to consider economical efficiency, technical trend, expansion and space insufficiency. and system based on IP network has to be considered as new PIIS. so PIIS could meet economical efficiency and expansion. and it could go further and share network with TCMS and others.

  • To monitor the flood level under heavy rainfall and the scour at railroad bridge, the system, which can effectively collect, store and transmit the data, is developed and applied to the field. The results in this study are as follows. 1) Monitoring for water level and scour depth is well done in view of the recording velocity and the accuracy of data which are measured. 2) This system is based on the web, internet and it is able to collect the realtime data and to analyze the risk. 3) When water level excesses the limit of danger level of a river on which railroad bridge is located, or when scour depth and angle of inclination of pier is increased, the scenario for early warning signal which sends to managers at central traffic control and drivers of trains is automatically made. It is judged that this system secures the safety of railroad and protects lives of train passengers as the warning signal sends to running train in advance at risky situation of railroad bridge under heavy rainfall.

  • In this paper, we propose a stereoscopic video coding scheme for subway accident monitoring system. The proposed designed for providing flexible video among various displays, such ass control center, station employees and train driver. We uses MPEG-2 standard for coding the left-view sequence and IBMDC coding scheme predicts matching block by interpolating both motion and disparity predicted macroblocks. To provide efficient stereoscopic video service, we define both temporally and spatially scalable layers for each eye's-view by using the concept of Spatio-Temporal scalability. The experimental results show the efficiency of proposed coding scheme by comparison with already known methods and the advantages of disparity estimation in terms of scalability overhead. According to the experimental results, we expect the proposed functionalities will play a key role in establishing highly flexible stereoscopic video codec for ubiquitous display environment where devices and network connections are heterogeneous.

  • The abnormally high temperature of the train part is related to train accidents and monitoring is important for safe operation of trains. In case of KTX an abnormality detecting device that detects the abnormality of the axle and scans the urban railway is installed on the railroad and when there is an abnormal heat generation, a system for automatically informing the control center is installed. The IR sensors module used in this system are depend on quick response. we have conducted a study on the fast response test method through the production of experimental equipments.

  • The control module controlling points has become high-tech. but the introduction of relevant company's inspection intervals and methods, and the adoption of the way which is used in relay interlock system became the cause of a failure by excessive and incorrect maintenance. The Human error in failure recovery process can cause vital accidents including train derailment, the points monitoring system could prevent this problem by monitoring points' operation condition in real time. After conducting the changed inspection intervals that applied the results of the criticality of each failure type, MTBF, MTTR, availability, maintainer's opinion, the work became simplified, and, the failure did not occur for 4 consecutive years in contrast to the previous annual average of 11 failures.

  • Maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) have a high degree of autonomy and operate autonomously along a planned route. However, when necessary, the shore remote control center(SRCC) can directly intervene in ship operations. In this paper, the operation concept of the simulator system, which can be used to educate and train shore remote control officers, responsible for monitoring the operation of autonomous ships on land and remotely controlling them in case of an emergency, is reviewed. The required functions of the simulator system that enables the operation concept are also reviewed. The major parts of the SRCC simulator system are the monitoring station and control station, which simulate the functions of monitoring the operation status of multiple MASS and the functions of the remote operation of MASS in the case of emergency, respectively. Various units to simulate the operation of MASS and traf ic ships and various objects around the MASS are included in the simulator system. The instructor operation station is the central part of the simulator system that integrates and controls the unit systems. Functionally, as conditions under which SRCC is allowed to remotely intervene in the operation of MASS, the emergency situation for remote control (ESRC) has been defined. Moreover, the required functions to cope with these ESRC conditions have been included in the simulator system requirements.
