A Study on a Way to Induce Drivers' Voluntary Traffic Behavior Change by Using AHP (AHP기법을 활용한 승용차 운전자의 자발적인 교통행동변화 유도방안 연구)

  • The main reason for urban traffic problems is the increasing in the use of private cars. In order to solve this problem, strong traffic demand management policies such as the collection of congestion tolls and the crackdown on freight vehicles are emerging. Now, however, it is necessary to seek ways for users to make changes in traffic behavior through direct communication between public agencies and passenger car users. As a technique to make this possible, mobility management, which aims to use rational passenger cars by inducing behavior change through individual consciousness change, has recently been proved to be effective in overseas. Therefore, this study concluded that the introduction of MM, which emphasizes individual voluntary behavior change, is necessary at present. In order to investigate the ways of inducing voluntary changes in traffic behavior of passenger car users, a questionnaire survey was conducted on traffic experts and the priorities of voluntary traffic behavior change measures were calculated using AHP. As a result of the analysis, it was shown that "to actively appeal to change the traffic behavior by using the mass media" was the top priority. The next priority were in order of company education for the change of traffic behavior, education for the school, and small-scale workshops.

Survey of Satisfaction with Oriental Medical Care for Traffic Accident Patients ; 35 Cases Report (교통사고 환자 35예에 대한 한방의료 서비스 만족도 조사)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to understand the satisfaction degree of patients due to traffic accident(TA) in order to provide basic data which would give help not only to improve the quality of services, but also to strengthen the competitiveness of oriental medical hospitals on sequela of TA patients. Methods : The data were collected from inpatients and outpatients who answered a self-report questionnaire. Independent t-test, analysis of variance(ANOVA), $X^2$-test, correlation analysis were used for data analysis. Results : According to the research on medical satisfaction degree, the overall satisfaction degree was 4.141. On each field, satisfaction degree related to the doctor service recorded the highest degree among others(4.474). Satisfaction degree related to the appropriateness of service was the second(4.091). On the other hand, satisfaction degree of using procedure was the lowest degree(3.857). On the difference of degrees of satisfaction by general characteristics, patients who were unemployed houseworker group showed lower doctor service satisfaction degree than that of other groups. However, on the difference of degrees of satisfaction related to other general characteristics, there were no significant differences(p<0.05). Conclusions : The service distribution of oriental medical hospital was almost equal without concentrating on specified social classes.

Impact of Transportation on Air Quality and Carbon Emissions in Developing Countries: A Case of Myanmar (개발도상국의 교통수단이 대기 질 및 탄소배출에 미치는 영향: 미얀마를 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze air quality and carbon emissions in developing countries, particularly Myanmar, and explore the impact of transportation on CO2 emissions during peak hours relative to free-flow conditions. Method: This study conducted a traffic survey in two major cities in Myanmar to quantify carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation sector, using IPCC's tier 1 and tier 2 approaches, with statistical analysis performed using Python 3 and Microsoft Excel for comparative analysis of critical factors in CO2 emissions. Result: The result of this study is an estimate of the vehicle kilometers traveled (VKT) and fuel consumption in Yangon city for the year 2019, based on data from various sources including the Myanmar Statistical data base, YUTRA project survey, and Ministry of Electric and Energy. The study also analyzes the average travel time index (TTI) for the four roads in Yangon, which indicates the impact of congestion on vehicle travel time and CO2 emissions. Overall, the study provides important insights into the transport sector in Yangon city and can be used to inform policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving traffic conditions. Conclusion: The study concludes that congestion plays a significant role in increasing fuel use and emission levels in the road transport sector in Myanmar. The analysis provides valuable insights into the impact of the sector on the environment and emphasizes the importance of addressing congestion to reduce fuel use and emissions. However, the study's scope is limited to Yangon city and Mandalay city, and some mean values may not accurately represent the entire country and other developing countries.

Delphi studies on the operational problems of the Emergency Vehicle Priority Signal System and improvement measures (긴급차량 우선신호시스템 운영상의 문제점 도출과 개선방안에 관한 델파이 연구)

  • Purpose: Prompt arrival of emergency vehicles at the scene is important. Therefore, special cases for emergency vehicles are being applied. However, there remain obstacles that obstruct the prompt arrival during dispatch. Methods: First, a literature review revealed five categories of problems with the emergency vehicle priority signal system. Then, the first Delphi survey was conducted to confirm the validity of the five categories. Further, a second Delphi survey was conducted to identify additional problems, and we used a 5-point Likert scale for a third Delphi survey. Results: A total of 92 items were extracted from preceding studies. The validity of the five categories was confirmed in the first Delphi survey. Then, 123 additional items were derived from the second Delphi survey, and the final 50 items were selected from 93 items obtained from the third Delphi survey. Conclusion: This study revealed problems and improvement measures for improving the operation of the emergency vehicle priority signal system that were not proposed in previous studies.

A Study on Navigation Speed of Jet-foil Ships in Busan Port (부산항내 제트포일 여객선의 항해 속력에 대한 연구)

  • There are more than 10 ships and jetfoil passenger ships with speeds of 30~40 kts navigating between Japan and Busan ports per hour. Busan port has the highest density of traffic among the Korean ports and waterways. Jetfoil ships are the most frequently encountered amongst other vessels and about 18 % of passing jetfoil vessels violated port regulations. Based on the analysis of traffic survey carried out for 10 days, jetfoil vessels often overtook other vessels in route and deviated with high speed. This paper verified a proper speed and how to navigate in or out route of jetfoil ships by marine traffic flow simulation. A acceptable navigation speed for jetfoil vessel's mariner was calculated at less than about 32kts in Busan Port. It is a little different that shiphandling difficulty of jetfoil was almost the same whether passing in and out route in Busan Port. This paper proposes that the passing time of jetfoil ships should avoid the peak time to improve the traffic safety in Busan Port.

Analysis on Visibility of Delineators by Survey (시선유도시설 시인성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Visual changes and speed changes in curved sections of highways are more dangerous than straight sections According to the enquetes conducted by Coalition for Transportation Culture in 1999, about 78% of drivers are dissatisfied with traffic guide and safety signs, with lack of visibility being the largest reason with about 27.9% of respondents indicating it as reason for dissatisfaction. In particular, the lack of visibility during nighttime or bad weather not only threatens driver safety due to poor delivery of information, but also affects the service level of highways. Because of this a new delineation must be installed and managed to enhance driver visibility. In this research, an optimal delineation system to enhance traffic safety is presented. In this research drivers effectively obtained information on highway alignment on the curved sections using a retro-reflection type delineation system and a newly-developed internal lighting delineation system to improve safety on the highways. A statistical comparison was conducted and analysis was done for the delineation systems that enhanced visibility through primary and secondary enquaetes. As a result, inside-lighting delineator will be selected in terms of safety at the curve sections. The inside-lighting delineator was more effective than the retro-reflection delineator on visibility, the necessity of reduction of speed and will reduce the hazard at curve sections. It is anticipated that when a delineation system based on this research is installed, a reduction in the number the number and severity of traffic accidents on curved sections will be reduced. In addition this system will more effectively provide drivers with information about highway alignment.

  • Lane Designation is defined as reasonable road management to ensure the road safety and enhance road efficiency. While the lane designation system was abolished in 1999, it was redefined because of the increasing number of large vehicles in the passing lane, violent on driving and traffic accidents in 2000. The needs of improvement on operating the lane designation has been increasing more in recent due to the low ratio of compliance with the system and difficulties to keep the right lane due to need of turning and demand of widening of designates lane for two-wheeled vehicles and truck. In this study, we presented the improvement plan through the question survey, simulation analysis, safety evaluation. It found a problem that the low-speed vehicle is to use the upper level roadway, difficulties of supervision, the imbalance in the lane use, imbalance traffic and does not match the international standards. This study suggested five different alternatives through the survey. micro simulation has used in order to examine each alternative by management effectiveness and feasibility. It analyzed the traffic speed, efficiency, traffic balance of alternatives. Also, safety evaluation conducted in terms of the range of field-of-view to ensure the easiness of field of view by various configurational difference between the vehicles. By the analysis results of such indicators, This study presents proposals for improvement in operating designated lane that low-speed-big-sized vehicles keep to the right lane, and high-speed-small sized vehicles keep to the left lane.

  • Busan Port which is the representative social overhead capital facilities for international trade of goods has been the driving force for economic development in Korea. Therefore, the central government should play the major role in building a rear road to Busan Port in order that it may function as a mojor port of Northeastern Asia through the systemization of mutual assistance among connected facilities, completely equipped with port-related facilities befitting to the principal port of imports and exports. In this study, the validity of container tax is being examined, analyzing container tax which Is considered as an obstacle to the development of Busan Port and its purpose, and grasping the present conditions by the realistic speculation on container tax issues and its abolition. First, the port rear road as a social overhead capital facilities, which connects port and expressway, should be considered as part of port, and port is social overhead capital invested by government. Second, the susan City imposes on container tax. As a result, a shipper and a shipping company are paying a double charge by paying container tax with port dues. Third, someone argues that port rear road is constructed as container truck generates much traffic, but it is unreasonable to conclude that container truck is seed of traffic jam because according to traffic survey of Busan City, container truck occupies only 1.45% of total traffic Forth, it has bad influence upon the competitiveness of Busan Port as Northeastern logistics base, as other ports who are competing with Busan Port like Singapore.   • Recently, many ships such as fishing boats, cargo ships, high speed ferry boats are visiting Mokpo harbor. In particular, many marine accidents rave been occurred at this area because of the narrow channel, a thick fog, the existing of the shallow waters etc. However there is no suitable ships' routeing system which takes account of today's traffic situations in this area. This study aims at the settling of hazardous factors to mitigate the danger to vessels in mokpo harbor and to secure the safety qf maritime environment.

  • At recently, Oil spill accident of large size oiler that happen domestic and outside the country is occured to social impact us as well as economical damage in sea environment. Also, because spread extent of pollution accident is reaching harbor, bay and close water areas, as necessity that traffic control ships are sea place. VTS is changing to concept that control space is magnified gradually. Our country is operated to 14 harbors which is control center. But abroad is operating coastal VTS that do main waterway and coastals to authority dimension. Therefore, necessity that traffic density of ship manages high coastals and ship traffic of waterway to our country is risen. This paper is execute sea traffic survey at Mokop sea areas and sea casualty occurs. It proposal that coastal VTS center field of most suitable and position of radar site.
