South Korea has achieved economic development rapidly during last 50 years. However, such fast economic development with industrialization caused skyrocketing increase of automobiles. The increase of automobile has created various problems in the cities. Problems like traffic congestion and accident, environmental pollution, noise, and vibration have done human beings, who are the principal agents harm. They have made citizens understand how important Green transportation, especially pedestrian movement, is. Recently, installation of pedestrian facilities has been expanded. If walking facilities are incorrectly designed, they can create inconvenience, danger and the state of emergency due to the lack of safety and pleasant feelings. However, since the importance of the facility designs has been neglected due to the lack of understanding, it is hard to improve the facilities. Therefore, we need various studies of walking simulation in order to research the designs for pedestrians' safety and convenience. The objective of this study is to analyze the pedestrians' behavior and movement in a transfer subway station. The improvement of walking environment was made after chasing and analyzing the pedestrians' movement which is investigated in the actual field using SimWalk simulation program.

The South Korean government is looking for a solution to the ever-growing problems of traffic congestion, and surging international oil prices: the use of the humble bicycle to get to places. However, Many people feel inconvenient using bicycle because of the insufficient bicycle infrastructure and lack of the safety and connectivity between existing pathways. In this study, bicycle level of service model using ordered probit model is developed considering safety, convenience, connectivity, and factors that affect bicycle LOS. The ordered probit model would be recommended for the research which relates in choice, preference and strength etc. Bicycle level of service criteria is calculated by applying this model reflecting bicyclist's point of view. The model which develops from this research which accomplishes a bicycle level of service evaluation and represent alternative solution to encourage bicyclist. It is believed that the proposed model would be greatly utilized in bicycle network planning, bicycle road and facility alternatives testing, projects funding priority.
This study is to analyze the spatial structure and POE of Jungja(pavilion) shelter for rural village regeneration. 14 Jungja shelter space at rural villages in Gyungbuk province, were investigated. An interview questionnaire was conducted for total 139 residents as POE. The use behavior and satisfaction for Jungja shelter space, were investigated. The statistical analysis were mean of satisfactions, reliability, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results and discussions can be objective data for rural village regeneration. In satisfaction level, 'Continuous use intention'(3.99), 'Well-suited approach'(3.87), and 'Helpful in resident living'(3.84) were shown to be high points of agreement in 5 point Likert type scale. But, the mean points were low as 2.01 in 'Surrounding landscape', 'Creation of green areas'(3.22), and 'Traffic safety'(3.22), respectively. Within use satisfaction, 5 factors were categorized, 'Use', 'Safety', 'Facility', 'Management' and 'Users'. By the result of multiple regression analysis, variables of 'Continuous use', 'Convenient location', and 'Image improvement', were shown to be main affecting variables to overall satisfaction. Furthermore, in spatial structure analysis, 4 types were categorized with the aspect of landform, roads, and location in village. The levels of satisfaction were shown to be high in village type of semi-open, road type of circular, and location type of center/back. Conclusively, these findings could be utilized as basic data and useful tool of space-structural satisfaction analytic method, and for each stage of planning/design and remodeling for rural village regeneration.

At present, there is a no rational MOE for evaluating hazard level at curve sections. Therefore, this study focus on developing the MOE and algorithm for hazard level at curve sections. The scopes of this study limited to rural two-way roads. Actual data used is accident, geometric features, safety facilities of the selected sites at curve sections. In order to develop MOE for hazard level at curve sections, accident contributing factors were classified by road geometry, visual guidance facility, speed and driver factor. A relationship between the four factors mentioned and accidents was conducted. And, the MOE for hazard level at curve sections was derived from the previous relationship analysis, and the algorithm for hazard level was developed. Finally, worksheets were suggested based on the MOE and algorithm for road designers. These developed MOE and algorithm can be used to reduce serious accident contributing factors when designing roads and also, these will be used to determine an order of priority when reconstructing roads.

Among tile traffic safety facilities, median barriers are installed above 4-lane national roads due to the awareness of haying an effect on preventing the front collision. Studies about the installation effect analysis of median harrier have been carried out through both at home and outside, mainly indicating total accident reduction effect on pertinent sections. In sum, study about how the accident occurrence form is changed at the point classified by the accident type or severity is insignificant. In the case of outside the country, calculating the accident reduction effect according to the type of median barriers is main research and in domestic, though there is a part of researches assessing reduction effect by accident types, it is not reliable in the view or statistics because of using only 1year's before-aftev data installing the facility, So in this Paper. it is the main purpose to presume the accident conversion effect. For this, we conduct an investigation and collect data about 7-year's accident data containing before-after Project, safety facilities foundation records and index of road alignment on the subject of 4-1ane national roads(108.6km) existing median barrier. Next. using the empirical bayes method, we estimate a model construction and accident conversion effect of accident type severity. We expect the result or this Paper will be applied for a policy execution and Presentation of facility standard related to median barrier from now on.

The Pyeongtaek port is expected lack of waiting anchorage due to increase of incoming ships whit increasing of trading volume in the near future. In case of an anchorage facility's structural alternations and expansion, it should be considered comprehensively how it affects other anchorage facilities. In addition, the volume of ship traffic to relevant area should be estimated accurately and then the facility's scale is calculated. In this paper, researchers calculated cargo per unit ship with the throughput for every ship and predicted the number of ships which had entered Pyeongtaek port. As a result, the port's ability to be docked was predicted to be not enough in 2030. It will exceed the number of ships able to cast anchor at specific two parts simultaneously 12.6 and 1.6 respectively consequently, the necessity to expand the ports was suggested. Hence, the best expansion plan was examined with analysis of marine transportation environment at each ports and the improvements suggested are anchoring ships at Ippado anchorage is 19.7 and the one at Janganseo anchorage is 12.6.

A variety of decarbonized energy sources are being developed globally to realize carbon neutrality (Net Zero) by 2050 as a measure to address the global climate crisis. As the Korean government has also established a Renewable Energy 3020 policy and promoted energy development plans using solar or wind power, large-scale offshore development projects not present before in coastal waters, such as offshore wind farms, are being promoted. From ships' point of view, offshore facilities present obstacles to safe navigation, and with the installation of marine facilities, ship collisions or contact accidents between ships and marine facilities may occur in the narrowed water areas. In addition, there are concerns about environmental pollution and human casualties caused by marine accidents. Accordingly, we review overseas and domestic offshore wind farm development plans, analyze whether institutional devices are in place to ensure the safe passage of ships in wind farm areas, and study the safe operation of large-scale offshore wind farms and safe passage of ships along the Korean coast by comparing overseas legislative cases with domestic laws and presenting a proposal to illuminate the legal blind sectors.

Recently, large and small fires have been happening more often in Korea. Fire is one of the most frequent disasters along with traffic accidents in korean cities, and this frequency is closely related to the land use and the type of facilities. Therefore, in this study, the significance of fires was analyzed by considering land use, facility types, human and social factors and using 10 years of fire data in Jinju city. Based on this, OLS (Ordinary Least Square) regression analysis, SLM (Spatial Lag Model) and SEM (Spatial Error Model) using space weights, were compared and analyzed considering the location of the fire and each factor, then a statistical model with high suitability was presented. As a result, LISA analysis of spatial distribution patterns of fires in Jinju city was conducted, and it was proved that the frequency of fires was high in the order as follow, central commercial area, industrial area and residential area. Multiple regression analysis was performed by integrating demographic, social, and physical variables. Therefore, the three models were compared and analyzed by applying spatial weighting to the derived factors. As a result of the significance test, the spatial error model was analyzed to be the most significant. The facilities that have the highest correlation with fire occurrence were second type neighborhood facilities, followed by detached house, first type neighborhood facilities, number of households, and sales facilities. The results of this study are expected to be used as significant data to identify factors and manage fire safety in urban areas. Also, through the analysis of the standard deviation ellipsoid, the distribution characteristics of each facility in the residential area, industrial area, and central commercial area among the use areas were analyzed. In, the second type neighborhood facility with the highest fire risk was concentrated in the center. The results of these studies are expected to be used as useful data for identifying factors and managing fire safety in urban areas.
Aids to Navigation (AtoN) is a marine traffic safety facility used to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of shipping and enhance the protection of the marine environment by the regulations or guidelines of The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA). Our country is managing AtoN to provide consistent services for AtoN users, although an average of 141 AtoN accidents occur annually. An AtoN accident forces non-planned work on the managers to resort the function, and causes psychological anxiety for its users, ultimately resulting in economic losses. This study developed the Social Cost evaluation model of AtoN accidents. The model can be used to quantify the manager's economic activities related to the shutdown and recovery, as well as the cost associated with the inconvenience to AtoN users. The Social Cost evaluation model of AtoN accidents is proposed as the sum of the encounter cost, administration cost and risk cost.

In this study, to improve the logistics flow of existing given chemical logistics warehouse, four logistics flow alternatives were proposed to minimize truck interference by building simulation model. The simulation model for chemical storage warehouse was built to evaluate system performance. Among the four new improved alternatives based on the basic model, the model with the same truck's pathways and locations of facilities identified an increase in the number of interferences but a decrease in daily working hours as the number of resources in a particular facility increases. Therefore, the three groups were classified as 'efficiency', 'complementary', and 'safety' based on the daily working hours, and the ratio of trucks entering two types of logistics warehouse was set in consideration of future market fluctuations. For each of the six types, the optimal number of resources was selected as the number of resources in the facilities with the least number of interferences in the basic model and the evaluation measures and characteristics set in this study were compared and analyzed. As a result, the Alternative 4 model operating the underground roadway produced interference between 17.0% and 36.4% of the basic model, with 113.3% of the interior loadspace.
