  • This paper deals with an offline routing problem, which can be used as an explicit routing procedure in MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching) network, for traffic engineering. This problem is formulated as an MIP(Mixed Integer Programming) with the objective function which is to minimize the sum of the maximum link utilization for load balancing (link utilization) and the routing cost. Constraints arc composed of link capacity restriction and demand requirement that has origin-destination pair, bandwidth requirement and hop restriction. The problem is proved to be NP-hard so that the Lagrangean relaxation method is applied to propose a Lagrangean heuristic. To test the effectiveness & efficiency of the proposed algorithm, computational experiments are performed with numerical instances. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm solves the problem within a reasonable time.

M_CSPF: A Scalable CSPF Routing Scheme with Multiple QoS Constraints for MPLS Traffic Engineering

  • In the context of multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) traffic engineering, this paper proposes a scalable constraintbased shortest path first (CSPF) routing algorithm with multiple QoS metrics. This algorithm, called the multiple constraint-based shortest path first (M_CSPF) algorithm, provides an optimal route for setting up a label switched path (LSP) that meets bandwidth and end-to-end delay constraints. In order to maximize the LSP accommodation probability, we propose a link weight computation algorithm to assign the link weight while taking into account the future traffic load and link interference and adopting the concept of a critical link from the minimum interference routing algorithm. In addition, we propose a bounded order assignment algorithm (BOAA) that assigns the appropriate order to the node and link, taking into account the delay constraint and hop count. In particular, BOAA is designed to achieve fast LSP route computation by pruning any portion of the network topology that exceeds the end-to-end delay constraint in the process of traversing the network topology. To clarify the M_CSPF and the existing CSPF routing algorithms, this paper evaluates them from the perspectives of network resource utilization efficiency, end-to-end quality, LSP rejection probability, and LSP route computation performance under various network topologies and conditions.

교통 체증을 고려한 물품 보관함 위치 및 동적 차량 경로 문제 (Parcel Locker Locations and Dynamic Vehicle Routing Problem with Traffic Congestion)

  • Due to the complexity of urban area, the city vehicle routing problem has been a difficult problem. The problem has involved factors such as parking availability, road conditions, and traffic congestion, all of which increase transportation costs and delivery times. To resolve this problem, one effective solution can be the use of parcel lockers located near customer sites, where products are stored for customers to pick up. When a vehicle delivers products to a designated parcel locker, customers in the vicinity must pick up their products from that locker. Recently, identifying optimal locations for these parcel lockers has become an important research issue. This paper addresses the parcel locker location problem within the context of urban traffic congestion. By considering dynamic environmental factors, we propose a Markov decision process model to tackle the city vehicle routing problem. To ensure more real situations, we have used optimal paths for distances between two nodes. Numerical results demonstrate the viability of our model and solution strategy.

  • 본 논문에서는 기본적으로 라우팅(routing) 메커니즘을 이용하는 개미 알고리즘(ant algorithm)을 이용하여 실시간으로 변화하는 교통 상황과 U턴, P턴 및 회전제약(좌회전 및 U턴 금지)을 고려하여 다수의 최적경로를 제한된 시간내에 탐색제시 할 수 있는 경로 유도 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 이 방법은 기존 최적경로알고리즘과 비교하여 회전 제약 상황을 쉽고 빠르게 고려할 수 있는 장점이 있다.

  • 다단계 호핑(multi-hop) 무선 센서네트워크의 라우팅 경로를 설정하는데 있어서 데이터 전송의 요구가 있는 경우에만 경로를 만드는 Demand-Driven 방식의 대표적인 방법이 DSR(Dynamic Source Routing)인데 라우트 레코드를 패킷에 실어 보내기 때문에 이 또한 센서노드들의 수가 많아질수록 패킷이 무거워질 수밖에 없다. 본 논문에서는 DSR 프로토콜을 기반하면서도 라우팅 테이블을 적절히 이용하여 노드 수 증가에 대해 고정된 패킷크기를 가지도록 하였으며 라우팅 비용함수를 적용하여 각 센서노드들의 전원 소모량, 이동성(Mobility), 네트워크 내에서의 Traffic, 거리(Hop) 등을 복합적으로 고려한 안정적이고 신뢰성 있는 최적의 라우팅 설정알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • 기존의 다중경로 설정 방법은 소스로부터 목적지까지 명확하게 분리된 다중경로를 보장하지 못할 뿐만 아니라, 다중경로의 라우팅 정보를 설정하고 유지하기 위한 오버헤드가 많다. 본 논문에서는 다중경로를 설정하는 과정에서 플러딩 방식을 제거하고, 트래픽 부하를 분산시키며, 경로 갱신에 참여하는 노드의 수를 최소화함으로써, 에너지 효율적인 EDM(Explicit Disjoint Multipath) 방식을 제안한다. EDM은 논리적으로 다중경로가 구성될 수 있는 논리적인 파이프라인을 구성하고, 물리적으로 파이프라인을 통해 목적지까지 경유지 기반 지오그래픽 라우팅을 수행한다. EDM은 네트워크 트래픽 부하를 분산시키고, 에너지 소모를 균등화할 수 있으며, 네트워크 생명주기를 연장시킬 수 있다.

  • 동적 라우팅은 최적경로를 선택하고 라우팅테이블을 업데이트 하기 위해 라우팅 프로토콜을 사용한다. 가장 널리 사용되는 라우팅 프로토콜은 거리벡터 알고리즘을 이용한 라우팅인포메이션 프로토콜(RIP)이다. RIP는 최적경로서 최저 흡수의 경로를 취한다. 하지만 이 RIP는 매우 심각한 단점을 가지고 있다. 그것은 15 흡수 이상의 목적지에 대한 네트워크의 라우팅테이블을 유지할 수 없다는 것이다. 이를 극복하기 위해 TCP/IP에서 개발된 링크상태 프로토콜인 OSPF가 사용된다. OSPF는 큰 네트워크에 적합하고 RIP가 갖은 단점들을 극복 했다. 본 논문은 동일한 네트워크에서 메세지 전달과 지연, 링크 사용율, 메세지 전달갯수 같은 두 프로토콜사이의 트래픽과 링크효율을 분석하였다.

State-Aware Re-configuration Model for Multi-Radio Wireless Mesh Networks

  • Joint channel assignment and routing is a well-known problem in multi-radio wireless mesh networks for which optimal configurations is required to optimize the overall throughput and fairness. However, other objectives need to be considered in order to provide a high quality service to network users when it deployed with high traffic dynamic. In this paper, we propose a re-configuration optimization model that optimizes the network throughput in addition to reducing the disruption to the mesh clients' traffic due to the re-configuration process. In this multi-objective optimization model, four objective functions are proposed to be minimized namely maximum link-channel utilization, network average contention, channel re-assignment cost, and re-routing cost. The latter two objectives focus on reducing the re-configuration overhead. This is to reduce the amount of disrupted traffic due to the channel switching and path re-routing resulted from applying the new configuration. In order to adapt to traffic dynamics in the network which might be caused by many factors i.e. users' mobility, a centralized heuristic re-configuration algorithm called State-Aware Joint Routing and Channel Assignment (SA-JRCA) is proposed in this research based on our re-configuration model. The proposed algorithm re-assigns channels to radios and re-configures flows' routes with aim of achieving a tradeoff between maximizing the network throughput and minimizing the re-configuration overhead. The ns-2 simulator is used as simulation tool and various metrics are evaluated. These metrics include channel-link utilization, channel re-assignment cost, re-routing cost, throughput, and delay. Simulation results show the good performance of SA-JRCA in term of packet delivery ratio, aggregated throughput and re-configuration overhead. It also shows higher stability to the traffic variation in comparison with other compared algorithms which suffer from performance degradation when high traffic dynamics is applied.

An Effective Route Selection Scheme with Considering Traffic Density in VANET

  • A geographical routing protocol is typically utilized for a route selection of VANET. Even if it is conceptually well adapted into VANET, message delivery tends to be unreliable with frequent network partitions, which mainly come from the inherent characteristics such as high mobility and irregular traffic density. In this paper, we deal with a method to enable reliable message delivery with reflecting the traffic density on routing decision. By concatenating the message delivery cost of each of inbetween junction section, $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ shortest paths are initially determined. When it is not possible to deliver the message on a junction on the 1st path, we utilize two novel ideas, that is, letting the message stay on the junction to find out a new relay node, and putting a replicated copy to reach via a detour path. By using the NS-2 network simulator, our method has been examined in terms of message delivery rate and delay. It shows that our method is much efficient than the other method in the low density environment, while it brings similar results in the high density environment.

OPNET을 이용한 MANET 프로토콜 분석 (Analysis of MANET Protocols Using OPNET)

  • A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is characterized by multi-hop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology with mobile nodes and the efficiency of the dynamic routing protocol plays an important role in the performance of the network. In this paper, the performance of five routing protocols for MANET is compared by using OPNET modeler: AODV, DSR, GRP, OLSR and TORA. The various performance metrics are examined, such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and routing overhead with varying data traffic, number of nodes and mobility. In our simulation results, OLSR shows the best performance in terms of data delivery ratio in static networks, while AODV has the best performance in mobile networks with moderate data traffic. When comparing proactive protocols (OLSR, GRP) and reactive protocols (AODV, DSR) with varying data traffic in the static networks, proactive protocols consistently presents almost constant overhead while the reactive protocols show a sharp increase to some extent. When comparing each of proactive protocols in static and mobile networks, OLSR is better than GRP in the delivery ratio while overhead is more. As for reactive protocols, DSR outperforms AODV under the moderate data traffic in static networks because it exploits caching aggressively and maintains multiple routes per destination. However, this advantage turns into disadvantage in high mobility networks since the chance of the cached routes becoming stale increases.
