This study aims to investigate the security demand about the traffic policing by analyzing civil complaints. Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA) was applied to extract key topics for 2,062 civil complaints data related to traffic policing from e-People. And additional analysis was made of reports of violations, which accounted for a high proportion. In this process, the consistency and convergence of keywords and representative documents were considered together. As a result of the analysis, complaints related to traffic police could be classified into 41 topics, including traffic safety facilities, passing through intersections(signals), provisional impoundment of vehicle plate, and personal mobility. It is necessary to strengthen crackdowns on violations at intersections and violations of motorcycles and take preemptive measures for the installation and operation of unmanned traffic control equipments, crosswalks, and traffic lights. In addition, it is necessary to publicize the recently amended laws a implemented policies, e-fine, procedure after crackdown.

As Internet technologies are mature, many new applications that are different characteristics are emerging. Recently we see wide use of P2P(Peer to Peer) applications of which traffic shows different statistical characteristics compared with traditional application such as web(HTTP) and FTP(File Transfer Protocol). In this paper, we measured subscriber network of KT(Korea Telecom) to analyze P2P traffic characteristics. We show flow characteristics of measured traffic. We also estimate Hurst parameter of P2P traffic and compare self-similarity with web traffic. Analysis results indicate that P2P traffic is much bustier than web traffic and makes both upstream traffic and downstream traffic be symmetric. To predict parameters related QoS such as packet loss and delays we model P2P traffic using two self-similar traffic models and predict both loss probability and mm delay then compare their accuracies. With simulation we show that the self-similar traffic models we derive predict the performance of P2P traffic accurately and thus when we design a network or evaluate its performance, we can use the P2P traffic model as reference input traffic.

A design method of fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of route choice of traffic problems. The proposed fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the eficient form of""IF..., THEN-.."", using the theories of optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules. Three kinds ofmethod for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type I), linear inference (type 21,and proposed modified-linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy inference method are utilized to develop the routechoice model in terms of accurate estimation and precise description of human travel behavior. In order to identifypremise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, improved complex method is used and the least squaremethod is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Data for route choice of trafficproblems are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed fuzzy modeling. The results show that the proposedmethod can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy than previous other studies -BL(binary logic) model,B(production system) model, FL(fuzzy logic) model, NN(neura1 network) model, and FNNs (fuzzy-neuralnetworks) model -.fuzzy-neural
networks) model -.
The common practice to predict the characteristic structural load effects (LEs) in long reference periods is to employ the extreme value theory (EVT) for building limit distributions. However, most applications ignore that LEs are driven by multiple loading events and thus do not have the identical distribution, a prerequisite for EVT. In this study, we propose the composite extreme value modeling approach using clustering to (a) cluster initial blended samples into finite identical distributed subsamples using the finite mixture model, expectation-maximization algorithm, and the Akaike information criterion; (b) combine limit distributions of subsamples into a composite prediction equation using the generalized Pareto distribution based on a joint threshold. The proposed approach was validated both through numerical examples with known solutions and engineering applications of bridge traffic LEs on a long-span bridge. The results indicate that a joint threshold largely benefits the composite extreme value modeling, many appropriate tail approaching models can be used, and the equation form is simply the sum of the weighted models. In numerical examples, the proposed approach using clustering generated accurate extrema prediction of any reference period compared with the known solutions, whereas the common practice of employing EVT without clustering on the mixture data showed large deviations. Real-world bridge traffic LEs are driven by multi-events and present multipeak distributions, and the proposed approach is more capable of capturing the tendency of tailed LEs than the conventional approach. The proposed approach is expected to have wide applications to general problems such as samples that are driven by multiple events and that do not have the identical distribution.

When introducing a new policy or technology, it is common for both opposing and approving opinions to exist. In particular, identifying factors that influence opposing opinions can be the first step to successfully introducing new policies or technologies. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the acceptability of tram, a new transportation mode, in urban areas of Jeju. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 326 Jeju residents and 104 tourists for eight days, and the surveyed data was analyzed for the main factors affecting acceptability using structural equation modeling (SEM). As a result, it was found that the higher the recognition of tram operation characteristics, the more positive the acceptability. In particular, while tram operation in downtown Jeju was evaluated positively from the perspective of the convenience of using public transportation and the urban environment, it was evaluated negatively from the perspective of traffic crashes, congestion, and pedestrian safety due to traffic conflicts. These results are expected to be used as a basis for establishing policies to successfully adopt trams in Jeju City in the future.
Road traffic noise is closely related to road traffic environment, including traffic volumes by type and travel speed. In this study, we stated some issues and analyzed the relationships between road traffic noise and traffic flow characteristics. First, in attempt to find the answer to the question "When does the loudest traffic noise occur?" we reviewed the issue in the terms of traffic flow. As a result of analyzing level of service through Korea Highway Traffic Noise model, the actual maximum noise occurred in level of service D rather than level of service E, on the capacity state. It shows that maximum noise would be most likely to occur right before and after the peak hours. Second, this paper was looking for the method of a more easy and accurate traffic speed estimation to predict traffic noise. This paper proposed sketch planning techniques of speed-volume curve by level of service on Korea Highway Capacity Manual. As a result of trend line modeling, it was judged that quadratic form is a suitable function, and coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was higher than 0.96, respectively.
We study the weak convergence to Fractional Brownian motion and some examples with applications to traffic modeling. Finally, we get loss probability for queue-length distribution related to self-similar process.

Wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) networks are emerging to be the right choice for the future transport networks. In WDM networks, the optical layer provides circuit-switched lightpath services to the client layer such as IP, SONET and ATM. The set of lightpaths in the optical layer defines the virtual topology. Since the optical switches are reconfigurable, the virtual topology can be reconfigured in accordance with the changing traffic demand pattern at theclient layer in order to optimize the network performance. We present a new approach to the virtual topology reconfiguration and loadbalancing problem for wavelength-routed, optical wide-area networks under dynamic traffic demand. By utilizing the measured Internet backbone traffic characteristics, our approach follows the changes in traffic without assuming that the future traffic pattern is known. For the simulation traffic modeling, we collected the data from real backbone traffic. Experiments show that the standard deviation compared to previous technique is reduced.

The service level of the roundabout is estimated through an analytic model using the geometrical characteristics and parameter values obtained from the observations. Although a lot of researches have been conducted on the rotational intersection through an analytical model, the case of variable combinations is enormous, suggesting the range and service level of appropriate traffic volume according to the case study or limited characteristics through simulation. Therefore, in this study, the roundabout analysis model was constructed by using Visual Basic Application to make variable adjustment more easily. The constructed model analyzes traffic conditions according to various situations and analyzes the characteristics of roundabouts. As the result of analysis, the more the ratio of left turn and U-turn, the more the traffic distribution of each approached road was biased to one side, the limit traffic volume of the roundabout decreased and congestion appeared quickly. In particular, the more uneven the distribution of traffic was, the less the Saturation traffic volume was affected by the turnover rate.

In this paper, we study the effects of long-range dependence (LRD) in VBR video traffic on queueing system. This paper consists of Part I and II. In Part I, we present a (LRD) video traffic model based on the shifting-level (SL) process. We observe that the ACF of an empirical video trace is accurately captured by the shifting-level process with compound correlation (SLCC): an exponential function in short range and a hyperbolic function in long range. We present an accurate parameter matching algorithm for video traffic. In the Part II, we offer the queueing analysis of SL/D/1/K called ‘quantization reduction method’. Comparing the queueing performances of the DAR(1) model and the SLCC with that of a real video trace, we identify the effects of SRD and LRD in VBR video traffic on queueing performance. Simulation results show that Markoivian models can estimate network performances fairly accurately under a moderate traffic load and buffer condition, whereas LRD may have a significant effect on queueing behavior under a heavy traffic load and large buffer condition.
