  • This paper presents an intelligent signal for controling the traffic lights on traffic junction network with dynamic traffic flow, When a junction is connected to adjacent junctions on four sides. Prior researches have been done on the single traffic junction. However, it is dificult to apply single junction controller to real traffic situation. In this paper, we develop a fuzzy taffic network controller which adjusts the extension time of current green phase by using teh fuzzy input variables such as the number of entering cars at the green light, the number of waiting cars during the red light, and the traffic volume. The proposed method was compared to the existing junction signal control methods on controllers in terms of average delay time of cars and the cost function defined in this paper.

  • Since its introduction in the early 1990s, the quick growth of the world Wide Web (WWW) traffic raises the question whether past LAN packet traces still reflect the current situation or whether they have become obsolete. For this study, several LAN packet traces were obtained by monitoring the LAN of a typical academic environment. The tools for monitoring the network were a stand-alone HP LAN Protocol Analyzer as well as the free-ware software tool tcpdump. Our main focus was placed on acquiring a low-level overview of the LAN traffic. Thus, we could determine what protocols were mainly used and how the packet sizes were distributed. In particular, we were interested in establishing the amount of WWW traffic on the LAN, and what MIME-Types this traffic is subdivided into. Our results indicate that in a typical academic environment such as ours, conventional sources of LAN traffic such as NFS are still predominant, whereas WWW traffic plays a rather marginal role. Furthermore, we verified that a large portion of the network packets contains little or no data at all, while another significant portion of the packets has sizes around the MTU. Consequently, research in the networking field has to direct its focus on issues beyond the WWW.

  • Multimedia has to carry data of heterogeous types. Multicast communication techniques can supply the most appropriate infrastructures to such multimedia. Of many multicast protocols, the core based tree (CBT) protocol is the most concentrative studies are conducted on. The CBT places a core router at center of the shared tree and transfers data through the tore router. However, the CBT has two problems due to centralizing all network traffics into a core router. First it can raise bottleneck effect at a core router. Second, it is possible to make an additive processing overhead when core router is distant from receivers. To cope with the problems, this paper proposes an intelligent anycast routing protocol. The anycast routing attempts to distribute the centralized traffic into plural core routers by using a knowledge-based algorithm. The anycast routing estimates the traffic characteristics of multimedia data far each multicast source, and achieves effectively the distributing that places an appropriate core router to process the incoming traffic based on the traffic information in the event that request of receivers are raised. This method prevent the additional overhead to distribute traffic because an individual core router uses the information estimated to multicast sources connected to oneself and the traffic processing statistics shared with other core neuters.

  • It is essential to guarantee a handoff dropping probability below a predetermined threshold for wireless mobile networks. Previous studies have proposed admission control policies for integrated voice/data traffic in wireless mobile networks. However, since QoS has been considered only in terms of CDP (Call Dropping Probability), the result has been a serious CBP (Call Blocking Probability) unfairness problem between voice and data traffic. In this paper, we suggest a new admission control policy that treats integrated voice and data traffic fairly while maintaining the CDP constraint. For underprivileged data traffic, which requires more bandwidth units than voice traffic, the packet is placed in a queue when there are no available resources in the base station, instead of being immediately rejected. Furthermore, we have adapted the biased coin method concept to adjust unfairness in terms of CBP. We analyzed the system model of a cell using both a two-dimensional continuous-time Markov chain and the Gauss-Seidel method. Numerical results demonstrate that our CAC (Call Admission Control) scheme successfully achieves CBP fairness for voice and data traffic.

  • The current traffic signal control systems are operated depending on the pre-planned control scheme or the selected control scheme according to a period of time. The problem with these types of traffic control systems is that they can not cope with variant traffic flows appropriately. Such a problem can be difficult to solve by using binary logic. Therefore, in this 0paper, we propose a traffic signal control system which can deal wit various traffic flows quickly and effectively. The proposed controller is operated under uncertainty and in a fuzzy environment. It show the congestion of road traffic by using fuzzy logic, and it determines the length of green signal by means of a fuzzy inference engine. It modeled using petri-net to verify its validation.

  • Future high speed networks are expected to use the Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM), which provides desired quality of service for the various traffic types(e.g., voice, video and data). Proper traffic control scheme helps ensure efficient and fair operation of networks. In this paper, we analyze various related traffic-control strategies and propose a new traffic control scheme and ATM control architecture with an integrated buffer management method and multi-thresholds in order to solve the problem of each class's cell loss ratio and cell delay in ATM networks. In addition, we evaluate the performance improvement of the proposed traffic control scheme through simulation. As shown in the result, the proposed traffic control scheme improves cell loss ratio in proportion to the buffer size.

  • Recently, we are concerned with effective service according as the demand increase for high speed data service. We can use high speed transfer and multiple traffic service on the ATM networks, so we concentrate on preventive-control method rather than reactive-control one. But it is possible to have low QoS and traffic congestion due to unpredictable traffic and burst traffic. Specially, ATM Forum has discussed to standardization of traffic management of ABR(Available Bit Rate) service. Because ABR traffic controls the flow of traffic using the feedback information and the current status information of cell, it allocates bandwidth systematically and dynamically to the user. In this paper, we propose a new Rate-based flow control scheme which adapted double threshold buffer idea. The double threshold buffer controls the traffic control by establishing two threshold in buffer.

  • This paper presents a system used to automatically recognize the road traffic control gestures of police officers. In this approach, the control gestures of traffic police officers are captured in the form of depth images.A human skeleton is then constructed using a kinematic model. The feature vector describing a traffic control gesture is built from the relative angles found amongst the joints of the constructed human skeleton. We utilize Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to perform the gesture recognition. Experiments show that our proposed method is robust and efficient and is suitable for real-time application. We also present a testbed system based on the SVMs trained data for real-time traffic gesture recognition.

  • Due to dense deployment and innumerable amount of traffic flow in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), congestion becomes more common phenomenon from simple periodic traffic to unpredictable bursts of messages triggered by external events. Even for simple network topology and periodic traffic, congestion is a likely event due to dynamically time varying wireless channel condition and contention caused due to interference by concurrent transmissions. In this paper, we have proposed three mechanisms: upstream source count and buffer based rate control and snoop based MAC level ACK scheme to avoid congestion. The simulation results show that our proposed mechanism achieves around 80% delivery ratio even under bursty traffic condition
