측벽근방을 항해하는 대형선박에 미치는 측벽의 영향 (The Interaction Effect Acting on a Ship Hull in the Proximity of Bank Wall)

  • 측벽과 선박간의 상호 간섭력이 선박 조종 운동에 상당히 크게 작용하는 것은 잘 알려셔 있다. 이 논문에서 측벽 부근을 항해하는 선박에 미치는 측벽의 간섭 영향에 대해서 다루어지고, 선박과 측벽간의 간섭력 추정을 위해 세장체 이론을 토대로 학 계산 방법이 적용되며, 선박 조종 운동에 미치는 측벽의 영향을 파악하기 위하여 선박과 돌제(반원)형상을 하고 있는 측벽간의 간섭력을 수치 계산하였다. 이 논문에서 사용되어진 계산 방법은 제한수역에서의 충돌 회피를 위한 선박의 자동 세어 시스템과 해상 교통 제어 시스템 및 항만 건설 등을 위한 초기 설계 단계에서 선박 조종성의 예측에 상당히 유용할 것이다

EDMS를 이용한 인천국제공항의 대기오염 배출량 산정과 주변지역에 미치는 영향 평가 (Assessment of Air Pollution and Estimation of Emission from Incheon International Airport by EDMS)

  • Air traffic increased 12% annually in Korea since 1988 after the Olympics, this rate is two times than the rate of the world average. In order to accommodate fast growing aviation demand, Incheon International Airport is operated at Yongjong Island since March, 2001. The Incheon airport project will continue till 2020. After the final phase in 2020, Incheon International Airport will handle 100 million passengers, 530,000 flights and 7 million tons of cargo annually. In this study, air pollution from aircraft and other sources are calculated and assessed in Incheon International Airport area by EDMS(Emission and Dispersion Modeling System), which is a combined emission and dispersion model for airport. EDMS could also be considered power plant, incinerator and aircraft support equipment such as ground support equipment, aerospace ground equipment, auxiliary power units. And EDMS is recommended as preferred model for air quality assessment of the airport area by U.S. EP A. The result of this study shows that NOx emission from aircraft and support utility is estimated as 27,000 - 35,000 ton/yr and Namdong-Gu area in Incheon city is affected as 30-60 ppb by the NOx emission from these sources in 2020, the final phase of Incheon international airport construction.

Buffer-Based Adaptive Bitrate Algorithm for Streaming over HTTP

  • Video streaming services make up a large proportion of Internet traffic on both fixed and mobile access throughout the world. Adaptive streaming allows for dynamical adaptation of the bitrate with varying network conditions, to guarantee the best user experience. Adaptive bitrate algorithms face a significant challenge in correctly estimating the throughput as it varies widely over time. In this paper, we first evaluate the throughput estimation techniques and show that the method that we have used offers stable response to throughput fluctuations while maintaining a stable playback buffer. Then, we propose an adaptive bitrate scheme that intelligently selects the video bitrates based on the estimated throughput and buffer occupancy. We show that the proposed scheme improves viewing experience by achieving a high video rate without taking unnecessary risks and by minimizing the frequency of changes in the video quality. Furthermore, we show that it offers a stable response to short-term fluctuations and responds swiftly to large fluctuations. We evaluate our algorithm for both constant bitrate (CBR) and variable bitrate (VBR) video content by taking into account the segment sizes and show that it significantly improves the quality of video streaming.

통행시간 신뢰성 가치에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Value of Travel Time Reliability)

  • PURPOSES : Benefits for improvement of travel time reliability obtained from construction of new highways should be considered as a major factor in the feasibility study for highway constructions. The purpose of this study is to develop a method of estimation for the value of travel time reliability. METHODS : Highway type (urban/rural highway) and traffic flow type(interrupted/uninterrupted) was considered to estimate he value of travel time reliability. And Double-bounded Dichotomous Choice among Contingent Valuation Method(CVM) was applied to survey the willingness-to-pay of drivers when travel time reliability is improved. Finally the value of travel time reliability was estimated using the results of survey and logit model. The value of travel time reliability was estimated considering travel objectives, time constraint travel and non-time constraint travel. RESULTS: The value of travel time reliability of business trip is higher than that of non-business trip. The value of travel time reliability of time constraint travel is higher than that of non-time constraint travel. The value of travel time reliability in urban area is higher than that in rural area. CONCLUSIONS: It was concluded that the proposed method in this study is more realistic and proper to estimate the value of travel time reliability because it reflects the situations of time constraint travel and non-time constraint travel.

고속도로 PMS D/B를 활용한 콘크리트 포장 상태지수(HPCI) 예측모델 개발 연구 (Development of HPCI Prediction Model for Concrete Pavement Using Expressway PMS Database)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to develop a regression model to predict the International Roughness Index(IRI) and Surface Distress(SD) for the estimation of HPCI using Expressway Pavement Management System(PMS). METHODS : To develop an HPCI prediction model, prediction models of IRI and SD were developed in advance. The independent variables considered in the models were pavement age, Annual Average Daily Traffic Volume(AADT), the amount of deicing salt used, the severity of Alkali Silica Reaction(ASR), average temperature, annual temperature difference, number of days of precipitation, number of days of snowfall, number of days below zero temperature, and so on. RESULTS : The present IRI, age, AADT, annual temperature differential, number of days of precipitation and ASR severity were chosen as independent variables for the IRI prediction model. In addition, the present IRI, present SD, amount of deicing chemical used, and annual temperature differential were chosen as independent variables for the SD prediction model. CONCLUSIONS : The models for predicting IRI and SD were developed. The predicted HPCI can be calculated from the HPCI equation using the predicted IRI and SD.

  • Highway have to be constructed under thorough investigation about function, economy, safety of the traffic and environment, because they are needing huge budget for construction and management as important facilities of the social overhead capital in the national economics. Initially the construction of roads becomes effective the plan, the design, construction phase. The design is foundation of accomplishment of the roads operation, the results of the design operation come to much effect a nation when using roads. Especially ancient design methods were not expected for visual effects as attaching weight to 2-dimensional drawing from flat. Therefore, it is difficult to recognize troubles happened during the work operation besides, many troubles are solved by modification of drawings as situations. For solving of those of the problems, it is emphasize on visual effect through introduction of 3-dimensional design from the initial phase. In case of national conditions, limited national land has caused increasing weight for construction of the roads through cities as the urban centered development. thereupon, citizens are increasing concern about the right of the light and the environmental effect, road designs and construction of the structures under agreement with local residents cause to make troubles. The analysis of 3-dimensional design is necessary as intermediation for decision making. In this study, Virtual reality techniques in 3-dimensional roads design are expected to visual effect on the publishing Internet Web, find problems in first phase and make decision between users and people having civil appeal.

퍼지 논리에 기반한 차량 충돌 경보 알고리듬 (New Vehicle Collision Warning Algorithm Based On Fuzzy Logic)

  • Traffic accidents are normally caused by late or faulty judgements due to the driver's inaccurate estimation of the distance, velocity, and acceleration from the surrounding vehicles as well as his carelessness or inattention. Thus, the development of collision avoidance systems is motivated by their great potential for increased vehicle safety. A typical collision avoidance system consists of the forward-looking sensor, the criteria for activation of collision warming and avoidance, the collision avoidance maneuvers, and the user interface. This thesis is concerned with the development of a collision warning algorithm in which the driver is warned of approaching collision with the visual and/or the audible signals . The warning algorithm based on fuzzy logic is presented here based on new warning criteria. It has been newly derived from the conventional warning equation by adding a new input variable of the required deceleration to avoid collision. The algorithm is also able to adapt to the individual driver's taste along with the different road conditions by externally controlling the warning intensity. Finally , the proposed algorithm has been validated using computer simulation.

Estimation of Freight Trip Generation Rates based on Commodity Flow Survey in Korea

  • In Korea, almost 700 industrial parks are under operation. Generally, industrial parks consist of national industrial parks and local industrial parks which are managed by a central government and by local governments respectively. The developing countries such as Korea, China and Vietnam etc. have constructed many industrial parks, which result in the change of land use pattern and also affect future trip demands. Therefore, in estimating traffic demands, it is very important to consider the industrial park development. This study aims to improve the methodology in estimating a freight trip generation rate with the data based on a nationwide commodity freight survey. The result showed that it is desirable to apply freight trip generation rate by the industry sector in estimating freight trip generations and using the production area of firm as an indicator. Specially, the reliability of the rates through a survey could be made sure because a sample rate based on firms in industrial parks was over 25% and the response rate was over 67%. The sample rate and response rate are very superior as compared to surveys conducted in many other countries. Because industrial parks have significant effects on forecasting transportation demand in pre-feasibility studies of transport and logistics projects, it is expected that the accuracy of freight trip demands would be improved through the results of this study.

적합도 검정을 통한 핸드오프 시간의 확률분포 추정 (Estimation of the Probability Distribution for Handoff Duration Time through Goodness of Fit Test)

  • 이동가입자 수신단에서의 평균 수신전력 레벨이 핸드오프 임계값과 수신기 임계값 사이에 있는 영역을 핸드오프 영역이라 하며, 가입자가 핸드오프 영역에 머무르는 시간을 핸드오프 시간으로 정의한다. 본 논문에서는 이동통신시스템에서 트래픽 모델링 시 중요한 파라메타중 하나인 핸드오프 시간에 대한 확률분포를 추정한다. 첫 번째로 핸드오프 시간의 분포군을 선택하기 위해 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 얻어진 샘플 데이터를 이용하여 점 통계량을 적용하며, 두 번째로 구체적인 분포함수를 결정하기 위해서 모수(parameter)의 값들을 추정하는데, 이를 위해 최우추정량(MLE)을 사용하여 모수의 값들을 산출하고 이를 토대로 적합도 점정을 수행한다. 최종적인 분석 결과 핸드오프 시간은 감마분포를 따르는 것을 제시하였다.

연속 영상 분석에 의한 다중 차량 검출 방법의 연구 (A Study on The Detection of Multiple Vehicles Using Sequence Image Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 연속된 컬러 영상으로부터 전방의 차량과 차선을 검출하는 과정에서 연속 영상 분석을 통하여 다중 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 하나의 프레임에서 차량 후보 영역의 검출은 그림자 특징과 에지 성분을 이용한다. 그리고, 다중 차량 영역을 검출하는 방법은 연속된 영상에 존재하는 차량 후보 영역들의 차량 추정값과(EOV)과 누적 유사도 함수(ASF)를 분석하여 차량일 가능성을 검사한다. 대부분의 연구 방법이 전방의 한 차량을 검출하는데 비해 본 연구에서는 여러 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제시하였으며, 교통량이 많고, 차선 변경이 자주 있는 경우에도 차량의 검출이 가능하도록 한다. 제안된 방식의 효과를 검증하기 위해 노트북 PC와 PC용 CCD 카메라로 도로에서의 영상을 촬영하고 차량 검출 알고리즘을 적용한 처리 시간, 정확도 및 차량검지 결과를 보인다.
