  • Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are composed of moving wireless hosts which, within range of each other, form wireless networks. For communication to occur between hosts that are not within each other's range, routes involving intermediate nodes must be established; however, since the hosts may be in motion, a host that was part of a route may move away from its upstream and downstream partners, thus breaking the route. In this paper, we propose anticipated route maintenance (ARM) protocol with two extensions to route discovery based routing scheme: Extend the route when nodes on a link move apart from each other and they have common neighbor that can be 'inserted' in the path, and shrink route when a node discovers that one of its neighbor which is not the next hop is also on the same route several hops later on. By utilizing only local geographic information (now a part of some route finding algorithms), a host can anticipate its neighbor's departure and, if other hosts are available, choose a host to bridge the gap, keeping the path connected. We present a distributed algorithm that anticipates route failure and performs preventative route maintenance using location information to increase a route lifespan. The benefits are that this reduces the need to find new routes (which is very expensive) and prevents interruptions in service. As the density of nodes increases, the chance to successfully utilize our route maintenance approach increases, and so does the savings. We have compared the performance of two protocols, pure dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol and DSR with ARM. The simulation results show how ARM improves the functionality of DSR by preventing the links in the route from breaking. Packets delivery ratio could be increased using ARM and achieved approximately $\100%$ improvement. The simulations clarify also how ARM shows a noticeable improvement in dropped packets and links stability over DSR, even though there is more traffic and channel overhead in ARM.

  • Recently a system is being required to replace ILS due to increasing air traffic. In this paper, Curved approach is applied to an airport where ILS approach cannot be applied due to its geographical condition and restricted aerospace condition, and verified by flight test. After analysing conditions of Tae-an airfield of Hanseo University with virtual ILS approach, airfield applicability was evaluated by Curved approach using by GPS. Normally simulation is performed after establishing approach procedure using electric map, but recently verification is being performed by flight test without simulation because accuracy and reliability are increased. In this paper, established procedure is verified modified by flight test with Pilot Test and Auto Pilot test and controllability and passenger's stability were also checked.

  • Recently, Networks are required to adopt the security system and security consulting because of security threats and vulnerabilities of systems. Enterprise Security Management (ESM) is a system which establishes the security zone composed of security systems and Firewalls and applies the security policy to each security system. A relevant ESM is based on the effective policy and the proper security system. Particularly, multiple firewalls in ESM are concerned with the security policy about each traffic. In this paper, we describe the problems that can be occurred when we select the firewalls to apply security policy of access control in ESM composed of multiple firewalls and propose the FALCON algorithm, which is able to select the firewalis to apply the policy. We expect that FALCON algorithm offers stability, scalability and compactness for selecting firewall set.

  • To reduce the traffic congestion and parking problems in urban areas tall and narrow vehicles have interested as a means to increase the utilization of existing freeways and parking facilities. The stability problem for those narrow vehicles which might be caused can be reduced by tilting the body toward the inside of the turn. The Direct Tilt Control(DTC) system and the Steering Tilt Control(STC) system have been proposed for those narrow vehicles. In this paper, as one of the performance improvement for that kind of vehicle a new control system to use the merits of both the DTC system and the STC system is proposed. Because two different control systems fight each other, the switching control scheme is applied as a means to prevent fighting. Also, the method in order to achieve the smoothly changed control system when the system is switched from the DTC to the STC or from the STC to the DTC, the appropriate type of control gain is designed.

  • Application of the foamed asphalt techniques in recycling the waste asphalt shows that large quantify of waste asphalt(60$\sim$70% of the total mix) can be used comparing with hot mix asphalt techniques and also is environmentally safe. However, the constant quality of the recycling foamed asphalt mixtures is not readily achieved and can not be applied to the heavy traffic road due to the characteristics of the conventional foamed asphalt mixtures. The semi-hot technique that the RAP and the aggregate is heated below $100^{\circ}C$ is adopted in this study and expected to solve the problems of conventional foamed asphalt mixtures. This study presents the viability of the semi-hot foamed asphalt mixtures when using the RAP. The semi-hot recycling foamed mixtures are tested and evaluated in the laboratory. The test results including coating rates, creep tests, resilient modulus tests, indirect tensile tests and the Marshall stability tests showed significant improvement.

  • Prevention plans for landslide and slope disasters should be appropriate for a country's budget when considering a systematic investment plan. The systematic management of slopes adjacent to national highways should incorporate reasonable investment risk and the expected degree of damage should be calculated by considering the investment priorities. In terms of priority of investment, the major factors used to determine the degree of hazard are gradient, soil characteristics, RMR (Rock Mass Rating), stability interpretation, type of discontinuities, and history of collapse, among others. The likely consequences of slope failure can be determined by considering traffic volume, the number of lanes, and average vehicle risk. We performed such calculations regarding the priority of investment and performed a regression analysis for 392 slopes located in Yeongseo region, Gangwon province. The calculation results show that collapsed slopes have a higher priority for investment, as do slopes with a high proportion of dangerous sections and locations in valleys.

  • The current test methods are insufficient to evaluate and ensure the safety and reliability of vehicle system for all possible dynamic situation including the worst case such as rollover, spin-out and so on. Although the known NHTSA Sine with dwell steering maneuvers are applied for the vehicle performance assessment, they aren't enough to estimate other possible worst case scenarios. Therefore, it is crucial for us to verify the various worst cases including the existing severe steering maneuvers. This paper includes useful worst case based upon the existing worst case scenarios mentioned above and worst case evaluation for vehicle dynamic controller in simulation basis and UCC HILS. The only human steering angle is selected as a design parameter here and optimized to maximize the index function to be expressed in terms of both yaw rate and side slip angle. The obtained scenarios were enough to generate the worst case to meet NHTSA worst case definition. It has been concluded that the new procedure in this paper is adequate to create other feasible worst case scenarios for a vehicle dynamic control system.

  • In cold-climate regions, deicing agents is used for smooth traffic on the road due to freezing and snowdrift in winter. The use of de-icing salts has resulted in the accelerated scaling damage of concrete with salt damage under freezing and thawing condition. Scaling is the deterioration of concrete where in the paste-mortar structure delaminates in flakes from the surface of the concrete. Due to such damage, concrete pavement causes various problems such as early deterioration according to the decrease in the thickness of cover concrete and user's stability issues. Accordingly, various tests and evaluation methods have been suggested in order to evaluate these phenomena in other countries. However, there have been no regulations for the evaluation method in South Korea, and related studies are also very rare. Therefore, in this study, the evaluation methods proposed by each institution and country were investigated and the experiments were performed according to each regulation, followed by the comparison and analysis of the results. Furthermore, this study aims to suggest the optimized experimental method adopted to domestic field through the discussion of such experimental methods and results.
