신뢰도를 활용한 도로시설 교통안전성 평가기법 (Evaluation of Highway Traffic Safety using Reliability Theory)

  • PURPOSES : This paper proposes a reliability index for the safety evaluation of freeway sections. It establishes a reliability index as a safety surrogate on freeways considering speeds and speed dispersions. METHODS : We collated values of design elements including radii, curve lengths, vertical slopes (absolute values), superelevations, and vertical slopes from seven freeway sections in Korea. We also collected data about driving speeds, traffic accidents, and their deviations. We established a reliability index using these variables. RESULTS : The average radii, curve lengths, and superelevations are highly correlated with the incidence of traffic accidents. Deviations in radius and curve lengths show an especially high correlation. The reliability index, derived from speed and speed dispersions of the seven freeway sections, also correlated highly with accidents with a correlation index of 0.63. CONCLUSIONS : Since the reliability index obtained from speed and speed dispersions are highly correlated with traffic accidents, we conclude that a reliability index can be a safety surrogate on freeways considering speeds and speed dispersions together in terms of design and operational levels.

임신 중 교통사고로 내원한 고령 임산부의 치료경과 보고 (A Report of Elderly Gravida Suffered from Traffic Accidents during Pregnancy)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to report a treated case with elderly gravida who suffered from two-times of traffic accidents during pregnancy. Methods : The patient, 39-year-old, was hospitalized to care pain and symptoms caused by traffic accidents during pregnancy. The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy and physical treatment during the admission period. We investigated the clinical management of Korean obstetrics and gynecology in an elderly gravida during pregnancy. Results & Conclusions : Despite of hard conditions such as elderly gravida and two-times of traffic accidents, pregnancy was well maintained through medical treatment. It is suggested that medical treatment of Korean medicine is effective to manage pregnancy of symptoms after accident.

통도산을 투약한 외상에 의한 상해 환자의 임상 특성 연구 -교통사고 환자를 중심으로- (A study on the Clinical Characteristics of Injured Patient Using Tongdo-san -Focused on Traffic Accidents Cases-)

  • Objective : This study investigated the clinical characteristics with Tongdo-san on injured patients focused on traffic accidents cases. Methods : 108 injured patients diagnosed with stagnation of Qi and stagnated blood(氣滯瘀血) were treated with Tongdo-san, acupuncture, cupping, physical therapy, Su-Gi therapy. The degree of Martins AN was checked to observe the change after using Tongdo-san. Results : Evaluation grades of of patients treated with Tongdo-san were all improved. The shorter the period of morbidity and the lower the age, the better the elevation. The degree of elevation is more significant in women traffic accidents patients. Conclusions: According to the study, Tongdo-san might especially effective for women traffic accidents patients with short period of morbidity and lower age.

첨단안전장치 장착 버스의 사고사례 분석 (Analysis for Traffic Accident of the Bus with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS))

  • Recently a traffic accident of heavy duty vehicles under the mandatory installation of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is often reported in the media. Heavy duty vehicle accidents are normally occurring a high number of passenger's injury. According to report of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, FCW (Forward Collision Warning) and AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) were associated with a statistically significant 12% reduction in the rate of police-reportable crashes per vehicle miles traveled, and a significant 41% reduction in the rear-end crash rate of large trucks. Also many countries around the world, including Korea, are studying the effects of ADAS installation on accident reduction. Traffic accident statistics of passenger vehicle for business purpose in TMACS (Traffic safety information Management Complex System in Korea) tends to remarkably reduce the number of deaths due to the accident (2017(211), 2018(170), 2019(139)), but the number of traffic accidents (2017(8,939), 2018(9,181), 2019(10,095)) increases. In this paper, it is introduced a traffic accident case that could lead to high injury traffic accidents by being equipped with AEB in a bus. AEB reduces accidents and damage in general but malfunction of AEB could occur severe accident. Therefore, proper education is required to use AEB system, simply instead of focusing on developing and installing AEB to prevent traffic accidents. Traffic accident of AEB equipped vehicle may arise a new dispute between a driver's fault and vehicle defect. It is highly recommended to regulate an advanced event data recorder system.

교통사고 심각 정도 예측을 위한 TATI 모델 제안 (Proposed TATI Model for Predicting the Traffic Accident Severity)

  • TATI 모델이란 Traffic Accident Text to RGB Image 모델로, 교통사고 심각 정도 예측을 위한 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법론이다. 교통사고 치사율은 매년 감소하는 추세이나 OECD 회원국 중 하위권에 속해있다. 교통사고 치사율 감소를 위해 많은 연구들이 진행되었고, 그 중에서 교통사고 심각 정도를 예측하여 발생 및 치사율을 줄이기 위한 연구가 꾸준하게 진행되고 있다. 이와 관련하여 최근에는 통계 모델과 딥러닝 모델을 활용하여 교통사고 심각 정도 예측을 하는 연구가 활발하다. 본 논문에서는 교통사고 심각 정도를 예측하기 위해서 교통사고 데이터를 컬러 이미지로 변환하고, CNN 모델을 통해 이를 수행한다. 성능 비교를 위해 제안하는 모델과 다른 모델들을 같은 데이터로 학습시키고, 예측결과를 비교하는 실험을 진행했다. 10번의 실험을 통해 4개의 딥러닝 모델의 정확도와 오차 범위를 비교하였다. 실험 결과에 따르면 제안하는 TATI 모델의 정확도가 0.85로 가장 높은 정확도를 보였고, 0.03으로 두 번째로 낮은 오차 범위를 보여 성능의 우수성을 확인하였다.

LSTM을 이용한 교통사고 발생 패턴 예측 (Forecasting of Traffic Accident Occurrence Pattern Using LSTM)

  • 교통사고로 인한 많은 인명피해가 발생하고 있으나, 첨단 기술의 발전에도 불구하고 교통사고 발생은 줄어들지 않고 있다. 교통사고를 사전에 예방하기 위해서는 향후 사고가 어떻게 변화하여 갈 것인지를 정확하게 예측할 필요가 있다. 지금까지 교통사고 발생 빈도 예측은 주요 연구 분야가 아니었으며 주로 과거 일정 기간의 통계를 기반으로 전통적인 방법으로 미시적으로 분석되어 왔다. 최근 AI 기술이 교통사고 분야에 도입 되었음에도 불구하고 주로 교통 흐름 예측에 초점을 맞추고 있어, 본 연구에서는 2014년부터 2019년까지 국내에서 발생한 1,339,587건의 교통사고 기록을 시계열 데이터로 변환하고 AI 알고리즘 LSTM을 이용하여 연령별, 시간별 교통사고 발생 빈도를 예측하였다. 또한 코로나-19로 인한 교통 환경의 변화에 맞추어 예측값과 실제값을 비교 검증하였다. 향후 이러한 연구결과가 교통사고 예방의 정책개선으로 이어지고 사고 예방에 활용 될 것으로 기대된다.

나이브 베이즈 빅데이터 분류기를 이용한 렌터카 교통사고 심각도 예측 (Prediction of Severities of Rental Car Traffic Accidents using Naive Bayes Big Data Classifier)

  • 교통사고는 인적요인, 차량요인, 환경요인이 복합적으로 작용하여 발생한다. 이 중 렌터카 교통사고는 운전자의 평소 익숙하지 않은 환경 등으로 인해 교통사고 발생 가능성과 심각도가 다른 교통사고와는 다를 것으로 예상된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 대표 관광도시인 부산광역시, 강릉시, 제주시를 대상으로 최근 빅데이터 분석에 사용되는 기계학습 기법중 하나인 나이브 베이즈 분류기를 이용하여 렌터카 교통사고의 심각도를 예측하는 모형을 개발하였다. 또한, 기존 연구에 유의성이 검증된 변수와 수집 가능한 모든 변수를 이용하는 두 가지 모형에 대하여 모형의 예측 정확도를 비교하였다. 비교 결과 통계적 기법을 통해 유의성이 검증된 변수를 사용할 경우 모형이 더 높은 예측 정확도를 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

도로환경요인과 교통사고의 상관분석 및 사고추정모형 개발 (청주시 4지 신호교차로를 중심으로) (Correlation Analysis and Estimation Modeling Between Road Environmental Factors and Traffic Accidents (The Case of a 4-legged Signalized Intersections in Cheongju))

  • 본 연구의 목적은 신호교차로의 교통사고 심각성을 인식하고, 교통사고의 특성분석과 관련변수와의 상관분석 및 사고추정모형을 개발하는 것이다. 이러한 목적하에 본 연구에서는 2004년도 청주시 총 교통사고건수 3,115건 중 1,183건이 발생한 4지 신호교차로 전체(181개소)를 대상으로 하였다. 신호교차로 사고에 영향을 줄 것으로 판단되는 ADT, 교차로 면적, 평균차로폭 및 종단경사 등 독립변수들과 교통사고건수, 교통사고율(MEV) 및 EPDO를 종속변수로 선정하여, 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석을 통해 추정모형을 개발하였다. 모형개발 결과, 교통사고건수의 경우 ADT 등 5개의 변수가 주요 요인으로 분석되었으며($R^2=0.612$), 교통사고율(MEV)의 경우 교차로면적 등 5개 변수가 주요 요인으로 분석되었다($R^2=0.304$). 또한 신호교차로 교통사고의 심각성 및 특성분석이라는 본 연구의 목적에 가장 부합되는 EPDO의 경우는 ADT, 주도로 평균차로폭, 상향종단경사, 제한속도 차 등 4개 변수가 주요 요인으로 분석되었다($R^2=0.559$)

비교그룹방법을 통한 백색 중앙분리대측 실선 도입의 사고감소효과 연구 (Estimation of Traffic Accident Effectiveness of White Left Shoulder Line Using a Comparison Group Method)

  • PURPOSES : Visibility of lanes on the road improves as retro-reflectivity rises. This helps reduce traffic accidents at nighttime or in bad weather. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of improved visibility on reduction of traffic accidents when the color of the lane in the median of the highway was changed from yellow to white. METHODS : In order to evaluate the accident reduction effect of the white left shoulder line, Hauer (1997)'s Comparison-Group method was chosen as an analysis methodology. The JungBu-2 highway, which is equipped with the white left shoulder line and is in trial operation, was chosen as a target for analysis. Data of accidents for 10 months before and after installation was collected and analyzed. In addition to the number of accidents, the types of accidents were classified into nighttime accidents, accidents in bad weather, and median collisions. The accident reduction effect of improved visibility of lanes was analyzed. RESULTS : The analysis' finding showed that installation of the white left shoulder line decreased the number of accidents by 28%. Moreover, improvement in visibility was effective in reducing nighttime accidents by 67.63%, accidents in bad weather by 55.19%, and median collisions by 48.55%. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the analysis' results in this study, it was concluded that white left shoulder line on the freeway contributed to reduce traffic accidents, especially nighttime accidents, accidents in bad weather, and median collisions.

고속도로의 합류구간내 속도변화 추정모형 구축에 관한 연구 (Constructing the Models Estimated for Speed Variation on the Merge Section in the Freeway)

  • Congestion and traffic accidents occur on the merge and diverge sections in the interchange of the freeway. Studies have been conducted to reduce the traffic delay and accidents on the merge section in the freeway since 1960s. but a study was not conducted to estimate the speed variation on the merge section construct models estimated for the speed variation and suggest the appropriate measures. The purpose of this study was to identify the traffic flow characteristics on the merge section in the freeway construct the models estimated for the speed variation on the merge section in the freeway and finally establish the appropriate measure for reduction of traffic delay and accidents on the merge section in the freeway. The following results were obtained: I) Speed variations in the urban freeway appeared to be about 3.2mph, 6.5mph and 7.4mph based on the morning peak period, afternoon peak period and 24-hours period but those in the suburban freeway appeared to be about 8.0mph, 11.1mph and 10.1mph based on the same periods respectively. So different speed reduction signs need be installed to reduce delay and accidents on the merge section in the freeway based on the areas and periods as the freeway traffic management system(FTMS). ii) These models estimated for speed variation need to be studied with the changeable message sign(CMS) technique based on the real-time data so that the traffic flow could be maximized and the traffic delay and accidents be on the merge section in the freeway as more efficient freeway traffic management system(FTMS) in the near future.
