The public knows the singer Shin Haechul as a musician who performs various musical activities as a producer, singer, and songwriter. However, he was also an all-encompassing entertainer who has been involved in different fields of popular media. His musical tendency is very progressive, and he pursues various attempts to create experimental fusion style music. Among his albums, 'MonoCrom' is the result of a combination of unique techno music and traditional music, and this album is known to bring the level of Korean popular music one step further in terms of musical value and meaning towards a new, unique sound. In this album, gukak holds great importance. In addition to the traditional samulnori instruments such as kkwaenggwari, janggu and jing, instruments like daegeum, taepyeongso, pumba and taryeong were used to show more progressive and expanded crossover music through the collaboration with gukak. In order for the current 'K-Pop' to continue to gain worldwide popularity, it needs a new attempt based on musical expandability. Therefore, if gukak is used as in the album MonoCrom, unique and differentiated music will be created, and will continually promote the worldwide interest in 'K-Pop'.

The aims of this article is to argue that the effect of catharsis through satire and humor in Korean music, Saseolnanongga. This song is a cheerful song of four beats and the representative rap music of Korean traditional music. This song is a folk song that reveals satire and humor such as curse to the person who left me and compassion and self-absorption. The lyrics harmonize with cheerful rhythm and create laughter and the lyrics of the song itself alone cause music therapy. The contents of the lyrics of the song are already refreshing. It means that you will be able to satisfy your surrogacy through the explicit lyrics. In this way, author thinks emotional expression through singing lyrics is an alternative solution. There has been a cathartic element in many twentieth-century approaches to psychological healing. The author thinks developmental criticism leads society to health, and satirical criticism reflects and heals individuals through catharsis.

User's selection of music is largely influenced by private tastes as well as emotional states, and it is the unconsciousness projection of user's emotion. Therefore, we think user's emotional states to be music itself. In this paper, we try to grasp user's emotional states from music selected by users at a specific context, and we analyze the correlation between its context and user's emotional state. To get emotional states out of music, the proposed method extracts emotional words as the representative of music from lyrics of user-selected music through morphological analysis, and learns weights of linear classifier for each emotional features of extracted words. Regularities learned by classifier are utilized to calculate predictive weights of virtual music using weights of music chosen by other users in context similar to active user's context. Finally, we propose a method to recommend some pieces of music relative to user's contexts and emotional states. Experimental results shows that the proposed method is more accurate than the traditional collaborative filtering method.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the music of the Moombaton genre and to find out the characteristics of Jamaican music in it. I analyzed Lewis Poncy's and BTS's rhythmically, melodically and instrumentally to find the characteristics of Jamaican music. As a result, the rhythm features a Dembow rhythm and reggae rhythm derived from traditional Jamaican music. and As a feature of the melody, toasting, a unique Jamaican expression method, was used. Instrumental features include Latin American percussion, South American melodic instruments, and the use of tr-808. This study is meaningful in creating another fusion genre by finding the elements of Jamaican music in the current popular genre of EDM.

Tropicália, which marked the beginning of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), is a musical genre that originated in the Brazilian cultural movement and this arose in the late 1960s. The musicians who participated in this cultural movement delivered radical innovation by embracing the international music trend of the 60s, such as the Beatles phenomenon and the experimental and creative music of the electronic age. The music derived from this era incorporated the cannibalism of the Brazilian modernism cultural movement in the 1920s, and it presented a cultural consilience while maintaining the traditional Brazilian culture. In particular, the convergence of Tropicália with rock was especially prominent. As rock grew into the culture of resistance in both Britain and the United States, the convergent characteristic of Tropicália reflected the critical sociocultural view toward Brazil at that time. This paper focuses on the element of fusion of traditional Brazilian music and the rock music present in Tropicália. To present a case study, this paper selected music pieces by Caetano Veloso, the essential pillar of Tropicália, and examined each element through specific music analysis. This study aims to establish an academic foundation for third-world music and contributes to the development and creation of fusion music.

Since genre of popular music began to classified, Alternative Music has been music form with most complex and diverse sub genre. This paper focused on mostly Alternative Rock, which began to attract attention since the 1990's, and analysed the cause for ambiguity of this genre. Therefore we can examine the inevitable limitation of traditional - based on musical form only - classification.

This paper describes an approach of composing music with multiple AI composers. This approach enriches more the creativity space of artificial intelligence music composition than using only one composer. This paper presents a simple example with 2 different deep learning composers working together for composing one music. For the experiment, the two composers adopt the same deep learning architecture of an LSTM model trained with different data. The output of a composer is a sequence of notes. Each composer alternatively appends its output to the resulting music which is input to both the composers. Experiments compare different music generated by the proposed multiple composer approach with the traditional one composer approach.

Exploring the conceptions of giftedness in arts is very important as the essential prerequisite to identification of giftedness and organizing the curriculum for the gifted in arts. So I have explored the conceptions of giftedness in western music, korean traditional arts(music, theatricals, dance) and ballet based on the results of various studies and cases. The three fields of performing arts mentioned above are operating in the present fields on gifted education in Korea. As the result of this study, I have converged three or four factors on main psychological constructs of giftedness in arts. The giftedness in western and korean traditional music is composed of three sub-factors: high ability in relevant domain, high creativity in general and specific areas, and high motivation including task commitment. However, the giftedness in traditional theatricals, dance, and ballet consists four sub-factors: the physical condition, high ability in relevant domain, high creativity in a specific area, and high motivation including task commitment. The internal characteristics of the gifted in arts mentioned above can be maximized through supporting external conditions like social environments including family and school, and crucial opportunity to meet the teacher who affects the development of giftedness.

The present study aims to investigate the design standard for acoustic criteria of Korean traditional music which could be used for the design of Korean traditional music halls. In order to do this, subjective listening tests were undertaken to musicians using auralized sounds which were convolved with the impulse response of traditional instruments recorded in an anechoic chamber. 94 pairs of sound were made which have different value of acoustic parameters including RT, BR, Brilliance, G, C80, ITDG, IACC. A paired comparison method(PCM) was used to analyze the results from the subjective listening tests. The results show that the preference of acoustic criteria for the Korean traditional music is far different from those of western music. As a result, specific range of acoustic criteria were suggested for the appropriate acoustic conditions of Korean traditional music. Also, a guideline of the acoustic design of halls for performing the Korean traditional music was suggested which could be used as a basic reference in the future works.

There have been always some difficulties in target setting and conditioning of acoustic performances or the Korean traditional music hall due mainly to the lack of the information on the sound radiation characteristics of Korean musical sources. As the 2nd experiment succeeding the previous study[1], the radiation characteristics of eight typical Korean traditional musical sources were investigated if precision. The selected musical sources were Geomungo, Haegeum (string), Piri, Taepyeongso (woodwind), Buk, Kwaengguari, Jing (drum), and male Pansori Chang (vocal Performance). The results show that the directivity pattern of each instrument is different and has their own directivity characteristics. Measured directional and spectral characteristics of traditional Korean music sources were implemented into the computation of architectural acoustic measures. Significant differences in the acoustic measures at receiver positions were observed between the results in using the omni-directional source and the directional one. In order to investigate the acoustical characteristics of the instruments depending on the spatial variation four different shapes of halls were introduced including rectangular, fan. horse-shoe and geometrical shapes. Room acoustical parameters such as RT, SPL, C80, LF, STI were calculated at each type or hall. As the results, It was found that the rectangular hall has the most high clarity. lateral energy and STI values among low shapes of halls. It is thought that the suggested source data and design method can be used as a basic reference in the future acoustic design of performance halls for the Korean traditional music.
