In this study, the energy consumption of the typical floor was compared by the total energy comsumption of the building in highrise building. In gerneral, many researchers are studying on the typical floor in highrise buildings for avoiding complexity in energy simulation. But few papers are studied on energy consumption along the floors. In the model bulding, the energy consumption data were acquired by BEMS system in 2011. According the data, the total net energy consumption was $193.99kWh/m^2$ for all area and the total net energy consumption was $247.61kWh/m^2$ for HVACR area. The total electricity and gas energy are used 47.7% for heating and cooling, 33.5% for lighting and plug, 12.9% for conveyance power and 5.9% for restaurant. In comparison of only ground floor, amount of energy consumption in the lobby is 10%, and 90% of total energy consumption is used in the typical floor. For this result, energy simulation on the typical floor is acceptable for calculating the total energy consumption in the highrise building.

This study estimates Korea's livestock energy consumption and GHG emissions from Korean livestock sector. The results show that livestock energy consumption in 2013 is 474 thousand TOE, 19.0% of total energy consumption in agriculture sector. It is estimated that GHG emission of fuel combustion from livestock sector is 956 thousand tons of $CO_2$ equivalent while a total of 4,589 thousand tons of $CO_2$ equivalent is emitted from agriculture sector. The livestock GHG emission as a proportion of the total agriculture GHG emissions (20.8%) is higher than the livestock energy consumption as a proportion of agriculture energy consumption (19.0%). This is because coal and petroleum consumption in livestock sector as a proportion of the total livestock energy consumption is higher than that in agriculture sector.
In this paper, a tradeoff between the total energy consumption-per-bit and the end-to-end rate under spatial reuse in wireless multi-hop network is developed and analyzed. The end-to-end rate of the network is the number of information bits transmitted (end-to-end) per channel use by any node in the network that is forwarding the data. In order to increase the bandwidth efficiency, spatial reuse is considered whereby simultaneous relay transmissions are allowed provided there is a minimum separation between such transmitters. The total energy consumption-per-bit includes the energy transmitted and the energy consumed by the receiver to process (demodulate and decoder) the received signal. The total energy consumption-per-bit is normalized by the distance between a source-destination pair in order to be consistent with a direct (single-hop) communication network. Lower bounds on this energy-bandwidth tradeoff are analyzed using convex optimization methods. For a given location of relays, it is shown that the total energy consumption-per-bit is minimized by optimally selecting the end-to-end rate. It is also demonstrated that spatial reuse can improve the bandwidth efficiency for a given total energy consumption-per-bit. However, at the rate that minimizes the total energy consumption-per-bit, spatial reuse does not provide lower energy consumption-per-bit compared to the case without spatial reuse. This is because spatial reuse requires more receiver energy consumption at a given end-to-end rate. Such degraded energy efficiency can be compensated by varying the minimum separation of hops between simultaneous transmitters. In the case of equi-spaced relays, analytical results for the energy-bandwidth tradeoff are provided and it is shown that the minimum energy consumption-per-bit decreases linearly with the end-to-end distance.

The objective of this study is to perform an analysis of the heat(heating and cooling) and lighting energy consumption according to the window area ratio and the application of horizontal louver, which is external shading device installed for the purpose of energy savings in office buildings. For this, a building was chosen as a typical example, and the heat and lighting energy consumption was calculated by using the daylight and building energy analysis simulation. The results showed that the total energy consumption, when the lighting control was applied, was reduced by an average of 11.49[%] compared to when there was no lighting control. The smaller the glazing ratio is, the less the total energy consumption is. Also, the application of the horizontal louver increases the total energy consumption under the same condition of glazing ratio.

The objective of this study is to develop energy saving strategies for indoor swimming pools and to estimate the effect of each energy saving strategy. For this purpose, field measurements regarding pool water heating energy, domestic hot water heating energy are conducted and a base energy consumption model is implemented using the DOE-2.1E program. The results of the study reveal that 25% of the total pool water heating energy may be saved by using night time pool covers, 27% of the total domestic hot water heating energy may be saved by using a waste water heat recovery system (effic. 60%), and of the total ventilation energy may be saved using an exhaust air heat recovery system (effic. 60%).

The effects of operational conditions of cooling water system on energy consumption for central cooling system are researched by using TRNSYS program. Cooling tower water pump flow rate, cooling tower fan flow rate, and condenser water temperature with various dry-bulb and wet-bulb temperatures are varied and their effects on total and component power consumption are studied. If the fan maximum flow rates of cooling tower is decreased, cooling tower fan and total power consumptions are increased. If the cooling tower water pump maximum flow rates is decreased, chiller and total power consumptions are increased. If condenser water set-point temperature is increased, chiller power consumption is increased and cooling tower fan power consumption is decreased, respectively.

This study analyzes the current and after retrofit energy consumption of lighting and cooling system of a superstore in Seoul. Energy consumption data were measured and collected with a measurement system. Annual energy consumption was calculated using TRNSYS program. After replacing lighting and chiller with higher efficiencies, annual TOE consumption decreased from 1,066 before retrofit to 832 after retrofit, saving 234 TOE (22%) in total. Similarly, total annual $TCO_2$ consumption decreased from 2,214 to 1,721, reducing 493 $TCO_2$ (22%) during this pilot study.

Improvement in the energy efficiency has been studied of the desiccant cooling system by applying a vapor compression type heat pump to modify the system into a hybrid system. The cycle simulation was performed and the results were compared between a reference desiccant cooling system composed of a desiccant rotor, a sensible rotor and a regenerative evaporative cooler, and a hybrid desiccant cooling system with the sensible rotor being replaced by a heat pump. Though the electric consumption increases as much as the compressor power consumption, the total cooling capacity increases and the thermal energy input decreases by the addition of the heat pump. Therefore, the total energy efficiency can be improved if the increase in the electric consumption can be compensated with the increase in the cooling capacity and the decrease in the thermal energy input. The results showed that the total energy efficiency is optimized at a certain heat pump capacity. When the heat from the CHP plant is used for the thermal energy input, the energy consumption of the hybrid system is reduced by 20~30% compared with the reference system when the heat pump shares 30~40% of the total cooling capacity.
The goal of this study is to analyze the impact of load factors on building energy consumption by using EnergyPlus program. We selected a campus building and monitored energy consumption from January 2009 to November 2010. First, we simulated energy consumption basically with weather data, building heat gain and EHP performance data. And then we simulated energy consumption with three additional parameter(infiltration, OA control and schedule). Simulation results are verified by MBE and Cv(RMSE) proposed by M&V guideline 3.0. Simulated total energy consumption was 104.3% of measurements, 4.33% of MBE, and 13.62% of Cv(RMSE). Results show infiltration and schedule were revealed as the most dominant factor of heating energy consumption and of cooling energy consumption, respectively.

In the energy consumption of buildings in Korea, the housing sector accounts for 53% of a total energy consumption. Although the researches of energy consumption on the new detached houses and apartment houses have been conducted numerous times, the researches of energy consumption characteristics on the existing detached houses are lack of studies. Thus in this study, the actual condition of energy consumption characteristics on the existing detached houses in Daegu city was examined, and then energy consumption unit and green house gas emission unit was compiled to present a fundamental data for an effective way of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission in the buildings. The results showed that the energy consumption for heating in the existing detached house was greater than other energy consumption and the heating energy sources were city gas and fuel oil. As the fuel oil consumption got larger, the energy consumption unit and greenhouse gas emission unit became bigger. Based on these results, it will be able to develop a plan for reducing energy and greenhouse gas emission in the existing detached houses in the future.
