  • Our business conglomerates are sharing their fates economically because of mutual debt warranty among their own affiliates and excessive financial loans. For this reason, it is inevitably restrictive to obtain the whole information on such conglomerates by individual and consolidated financial statements. To solve this problem, the system of combined financial statement was introduced through modifications of the Act of the outside audit of corporations in 1988. As a result, 15 out of this nation's 30 major business conglomerates prepared and submitted their own combined financial statements. In this paper, all financial statements are grouped into financial and non-financial parts, based on characteristics of business control and combined financial statement. Then the business size, financial rate and internal transactions for each of the conglomerates are analyzed, based on which problems of the combined financial statement as announced publicly are clarified. For the system, this study suggests improvement points such as a sufficient publication of any possible situations and interest coordination caused between the date of business settlement and that of preparing combined financial statements by applying principles of sharing to the evaluation of valuable instrument papers for investment and by determining the amount, 5% accounting for the total amount of debt warranty, foreign exchange assets and debts.

  • Purpose - Economic globalization provides firms with a new channel to gain benefits from foreign countries. Therefore, using the real MNEs, this paper set China's firms as an example to explore the relationship between multinationality and performance. Research design, data, and methodology - Panel data from 2008 to 2017 was used and 390 multinational firms listed in China's A-share market was selected. Additionally, related econometric methods were employed to analyze the relationship between multinationality and performance in this study. The return on assets was treated as a dependent variable, and the sales of a firm, the firm age, the debt asset ratio of a firm, the ratio of foreign sales to total sales and the enterprise properties were treated as independent variables. All of these factors were used to conduct an empirical analysis. Results - The empirical findings in this study revealed that there is a linear relationship between multinationality and performance, as well as that non state-owned enterprises (non-SOEs) have a greater effect on the relationship between multinationality and performance than that of the state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Conclusions - On the basis of evidences this paper provided, China's government should take measures in the future to help China's firms when they fulfil international economic activities.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the general characteristics of test subjects in association with three planned housing alternatives in different focus level of work opportunities, leisure activities and services. Subjects used in the study were people in their 50's who were surveyed in 2002. A total of 464 subjects were selected from 556 samples. Statistical significance was found between the preferred housing alternatives and the subjects' background including education level of the subjects and their spouses, monthly income, assets, subjective economic capabilities, and housing size. However, there was no statistically significant differences in recognition of housing problems for later life among groups. Groups selecting different planned housing alternatives showed statistically significant differences for some features of the senior housing. From these results, it is proposed that various designs based on the levels of work opportunities, leisure activities, and services for the senior housing should be provided to satisfy the demands.

  • A hybrid procedure based on multi-Criteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) and a Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) is proposed to evaluate the relative efficiency of customer services in bank branches. First, a three-stage process including sub-processes such as customer expectations, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty, is defined to model the banking customer services. Then, fulfillment of customer expectations, customer loyalty level, and the customer satisfaction degree are measured and quantified through a multi-dimensional questionnaire based on customers' perceptions analysis and MUSA method, respectively. The customer services scores and the other criteria such as mean of employee evaluation score, operation costs, assets, deposits, loans, number of accounts are considered in network three-stage DEA model. The proposed NDEA model is formed based on multipliers perspective, output-oriented, and constant return to scale assumptions. The proposed NDEA model quantifies and assesses the total efficiency of main process and assigns the efficiency to customer expectations, customer satisfactions, and customer loyalties sub-processes in bank branches. The whole procedure is applied on 30 bank branches in IRAN. The proposed approach can be used in other organizations such as airports, airline agencies, urban transportation systems, railway organizations, chain stores, chain restaurants, public libraries, and entertainment centers.

  • In a different way of satellite image or aerial photo, the image acquired by terrestrial photogrammetry has to go through complicated management according to the desired precision and analysis range. In this study, digital surface model and ortho image for cultural asset, terrestrial structures, were made by reflectorless total station in order to increase the application of single photo, and that was analyzed and compared with the method using stereo image. Single photo is expected to be utilized as the measuring method for drawing cultural assets or examining the stability of slope in which high precision doesn't need by performing the various geometric and visual analysis using ortho image made by excluding the difficulties of acquisition and plotting of stereo image.

  • This paper aims to examine the moderating role of bank competition on the effect of liquidity creation on bank capital. We measure bank competition using the Lerner index approach, liquidity creation using the Catfat approach, and bank capital using the capital to total asset ratio approach. This test also considers control variables from bank-specific factors such as Return on Assets, Loan to Deposit Ratio, and Non-Performance Loans as well as macroeconomic factors such as Gross Domestic Product, inflation, and Bank Indonesia interest rates. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data sample obtained was 96 banks from a population of 114 banks in Indonesia which consistently operated during the period 2008-2018. Hypothesis testing uses panel data regression analysis techniques through the first model of the Hayes method. The results show that the negative effect of liquidity creation on bank capital depends on competition. We found that bank competition at any level (low, medium, high) negatively moderates (weakens) the effect of liquidity creation on bank capital in all banks. This finding is consistent with the view that banks may strengthen their capital in response to bank competition which may decrease the level of bank liquidity creation.

  • The government has strengthened the system of restricting participation of large corporations to limit participation in national information system construction projects and to increase participation of SME software companies. This study analyzes the financial performances of small and medium sized IT firms in Korea three years prior and 3 years after the restrictions on participation of large firm. A sample of 121 small and medium-sized IT services firms were classified into 3 groups and statistical techniques (T-test and one-way ANOVA) were used for the purpose of the analysis. In the three years after the restriction of participation of large corporations, the total assets and sales of the medium and small IT service firms were positive, but the operating profit and net profit were negative. There were many worries about the introduction of the restriction on the participation of large corporations, but many were stabilized. However, the negative impact was more pronounced for SMEs. Therefore, the reduction effect of SME IT service companies is different from the first legislative purpose of enforcing the restriction system of large enterprises, so we propose to revise the policy.

  • One of important concerns in information security is to control information flow. It is whether to protect confidential information from being leaked, or to protect trusted information from being tainted. In this paper, we present Piosk (Physical blockage of Information flow Kiosk) that addresses both the problems practically. Piosk can forestall and prevent the leakage of information, and defend inner tangible assets against a variety of malwares as well. When a visitor who carries a re-writable portable storage device, must insert the device into Piosk installed next to the security gate. Then, Piosk scans the device at the very moment, and detects & repairs malicious codes that might be exist. After that, Piosk writes the contents (including sanitized ones) on a new read-only portable device such as a compact disk. By doing so, the leakage of internal information through both insiders and outsiders can be prevented physically. We have designed and prototyped Piosk. The experimental verification of the Piosk prototype implementation reveals that, Piosk can accurately detect every malware at the same detection level as Virus Total and effectively prevent the leakage of internal information. In addition, we compare Piosk with the state-of-the-art methods and describe the special advantages of Piosk over existing methods.
