Vibration control of 3D irregular buildings by using developed neuro-controller strategy

  • This paper develops a new nonlinear model for active control of three-dimensional (3D) irregular building structures. Both geometrical and material nonlinearities with a neuro-controller training algorithm are applied to a multi-degree-of-freedom 3D system. Two dynamic assembling motions are considered simultaneously in the control model such as coupling between torsional and lateral responses of the structure and interaction between the structural system and the actuators. The proposed control system and training algorithm of the structural system are evaluated by simulating the responses of the structure under the El-Centro 1940 earthquake excitation. In the numerical example, the 3D three-story structure with linear and nonlinear stiffness is controlled by a trained neural network. The actuator dynamics, control time delay and incident angle of earthquake are also considered in the simulation. Results show that the proposed control algorithm for 3D buildings is effective in structural control.

Nonlinear bending analysis of laminated composite stiffened plates

  • This paper deals with the geometric nonlinear bending analysis of laminated composite stiffened plates subjected to uniform transverse loading. The eight-noded degenerated shell element and three-noded degenerated curved beam element with five degrees of freedom per node are adopted in the present analysis to model the plate and stiffeners respectively. The Green-Lagrange strain displacement relationship is adopted and the total Lagrangian approach is taken in the formulation. The convergence study of the present formulation is carried out first and the results are compared with the results published in the literature. The stiffener element is reformulated taking the torsional rigidity in an efficient manner. The effects of lamination angle, depth of stiffener and number of layers, on the bending response of the composite stiffened plates are considered and the results are discussed.

  • The lateral buckling of a laminated composite beam is studied. A general analytical model applicable to the lateral buckling of a composite beam subjected to various types of loadings is derived. This model is based on the classical lamination theory, and accounts for the material coupling for arbitrary laminate stacking sequence configuration and various boundary conditions. The effects of the location of applied loading on the buckling capacity are also included in the analysis. A displace-based one-dimensional finite element model is developed to predict critical loads and corresponding buckling modes for a thin-walled composite beam with arbitrary boundary conditions. Numerical results are obtained for thin-walled composites under central point load, uniformly distributed load, and pure bending with angle-ply and laminates. The effects of fiber orientation location of applied load, and types of loads on the critical buckling loads are parametrically studied.

  • In this paper, electrostatic scanner mirror for optical pick-up head is designed and fabricated. The mirror size is $20{\mu}m{\times}2400{\mu}m{\times}2400{\mu}m$ and torsional beam size is $10{\mu}m{\times}20{\mu}m{\times}500{\mu}m$. Static deflection angle is calculated ${\pm}0.4$ degrees when the maximum driving voltage is 20 V. Silicon mirror was fabricated using KOH etching and deep RIE. For passivation of the patterned mirror from KOH solution, parylene thin film was used and its usefulness has been verified. Driving electrode was fabricated using UV LIGA process. Mirror and electrode were bonded.

고층 RC 벽식 비정정 구조물의 지진거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Seismic Response of High-Rise RC Bearing-Wall Structures with Irregularity)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic response of high-rise RC bearing-wall structures with irregularity. For this purpose, three 1:12 scale 17-story reinforced concrete model structures were constructed according to the similitude law, in which the upper 15 stories have a bearing-wall system while the lower 2-story frames have three different layouts of the plan : The first one is a moment-resisting frame system, the second has a infilled shear wall with symmetric plan and the third has a infilled shear wall with eccentricity, Then, these models were subjected to a series of earthquake excitations. The test results show the followings: 1) the existence of shear wall reduced greatly shear deformation at the piloti frame, but has almost the negligible effect on the reduction of the overturning-moment angle, 2) the frame with shear wall resists most of overturning moment in severe earthquake, 3) the torsional behavior is almost independent of the translational, 4) the absorbed energy due to the overturning deformation has the largest portion in the total absorbed energy.

Preliminary Molecular Dymanics Simulation Studies of H-Y Zeolite in a Non-Rigid Zeolite Framework

  • Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of non-rigid H-Y zeolite framework are performed at 298.15 and 5.0 K. Usual bond stretching, bond angle bending, torsional rotational, and non-bonded Lennard-Jones and electrostatic interactions are considered as intraframework interaction potentials. Calculated atomic parameters are in good agreement with the experiment, which indicates the successful reproduction of the framework structure and its motion. Both calculated bond lengths and bond angles are also in good agreement with the experiment except generally for a little longer bond lengths and a little smaller T-O-H bond angles. The calculated overall site occupation of HI keeps the order O(2) > O(3) > O(4) > O(t) at 298.15 K, which is very different from the experimental prediction, O(l) > O(3) > O(2) at 5 K. Calculated IR spectra of the H-Y zeolite framework show that most of the main peaks of the O-H bonds are in the broad region 3700-5000 cm-1 and that the O-T stretching bands appeared in 0-2000 cm-1 and at 2700 cm-1

  • Experimentally, the aligned direction of AFLCs in electro-optic cells having both the substrates rubbed along the same direction is skewed by a few degrees from the rebbing direction. To explain why, we proposed "Torsional Rigid Body Model" and interpreted their skewing angle as the action of short pitch with the large shear stress. That is, the azimuthal an anchoring strength (about 35 dyn/cm) in the cell is much larger than the maximum shear stress (about 10$^{-6}$ dyn/cm) for the original pitch and so forbids the optic axis to skew. On the side hand, the strength is smaller than the maximum shear stress (about 42 dyn/cm) for short pitch and then allows the optic axis to skew.

  • In this study, algorithms for analyzing the torsion of buildings under earthquake excitation are developed. The algorithm and formulations to account for the torsional angle are verified by analyzing the seismic acceleration time history data. The method was applied to the reference buildings to examine their operation and usability. The reference application demonstrated that the noise-canceling scheme successfully overcame various obstacles in the field measurements. The developed method is expected to be used as a tool to support a loss assessment system for determining the direction and priority of disaster response in the event of an earthquake.

두 변수 탄성지반으로 지지된 원호형 등단면 띠기초의 자유진동 (Free Vibrations of Circular Uniform Strips Resting on Two Parameter Elastic Foundation)

  • 이 논문은 직시각형 단면을 갖는 원호형 등단면 띠기초의 자유진동에 관한 연구이다. 띠기초를 지지하는 지반을 두 변수 탄성지반으로 모형화하였다. 두 변수 탄성지반으로 지지된 원호형 띠기초의 휨-비틀림 자유 진동을 지배하는 미분방정식을 유도하고 이를 수치해석하여 고유진동수 및 진동형을 산정하였다. 띠기초의 경계조건은 자유-자유로 하여 최저저차 4개의 고유진동수를 산정하였다. 수치해석의 결과로, 중심각, 깊이비, 접촉비, 탄성계수비, 지반변수 등 5개의 변수가 고유진동수에 미치는 영향을 보고하였다. 변위 및 합응력의 진동형을 그림으로 나타내었다. 실험을 통하여 이 연구의 결과를 검증하였다.

탄성받침을 가지는 단경간 곡선 강박스거더 교량의 부반력 특성평가 (Evaluation of Characteristics on Negative Reactions of Simply Supported Curved Box Girder Bridges with Elastomeric Bearings)

  • 평면내 곡선교량은 편심하중뿐만 아니라 자중만으로도 비틀림하중을 받게 되고, 이는 지점부 부반력 발생의 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 경간장 48.8m를 가지는 단경간 곡선강박스 거더교량에 대해 내부곡률각도를 0.49~1.35rad으로 조정하면서 곡률효과에 따라 지점에서 발생하는 수직반력을 분석하였다. 부반력 발생가능성을 고려하여 반력 크기 및 방향을 예측하기 위해 곡선교량 상부구조를 각 독립된 요소로 분리하여 반력산정식을 해석적으로 개발하였다. 콘크리트 바닥판 및 강재 하부플랜지는 각각 면의 차원을 가지는 기학학적 환형섹터로, 수평면내에서 폭이 좁게 투영되어 나타나는 상부플랜지 및 복부판은 선의 차원을 가지는 기하학적 호로 가정되었다. 제안된 반력산정식의 형식은 비교적 단순하고 그 예측값은 유한요소해석으로 얻은 값과 비교하였을 때 오차가 1% 수준으로 잘 일치하였다.
