  • The torque ripple reduction method is studied to improve the speed fluctuation of permanent magnet flat type brushless DC motors. To reduce the torque ripple, this study developed the compensation method of the 5'th harmonics component of air gap flux waveform which pass through the driving coils. 1/2 inch VTR was considered. As the result of this study, we can reduce the torque ripple and the speed fluctuation of the capstan motor about 20% then before and we can obtain not only better characteristics of wow/flutter but more useful capstan motors which can be applied in the multi-function VTRs.

  • This paper deals with the optimum design of the stator and rotor shape of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSM) that are used in applications for automobiles. IPMSMs have the following advantages: high power, high torque, high efficiency, etc. However, cogging torque which causes noise and vibrations is generated at the same time. The optimum design of shape of a IPMSM was carried out with the aim of reducing cogging torque. Six variables which affect to the performance of a IPMSM are chosen. The main effect variables were determined and applied to the response surface methodology (RSM). When compared to the initial model using the finite elements method (FEM), the optimum model highly reduces the cogging torque and improves the total harmonics distortion (THD) of the back-electro motive force (EMF). A prototype of the designed model was manufactured and experimented on to verify the feasibility of the IPMSM.

  • This paper proposes a improved speed control system for five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM) injecting 3rd. current harmonic components with field oriented control (FOC) A five-phase IM drives present unique characteristics due to the additional degrees of freedom and also drives possess many others advantage compared with the traditional three-phase motor drive system, such as reducing a amplitude of torque pulsation at low frequency and increasing the reliability. In order to maximize the torque per ampere, the proposed motor has concentrated windings. The produced back-electromotive force is almost trapezoidal, and the motor is supplied with the combined sinusoidal plus third harmonic of currents. There is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current in order to high response characteristics. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed the speed control system, experimental results are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[kW] induction motor.

  • SRM은 간단하면서 견고한 전동기 구조. 넓은 속도범위에 걸쳐 고효율, 탁월한 제어성능 등을 가지고 있다. 그러나 SRM의 전원부에는 일반적으로 다이오드 정류기를 사용하고 정류기의 출력단에 평활용 커패시터를 사용한다. 따라서 입력전류 파형은 폭이 좁은 펄스형태의 전류를 발생하게 되며 많은 고조파의 성분을 포함하여 제어시스템의 오동작을 발생하게 되는 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 energy-efficient C-dump 컨버터의 입력 전원부에 승압형 컨버터를 연결하여 고조파 성분을 저감하여 역률을 개선하는 구동시스템에 관하여 연구하였다. SRM제어를 위해 저 가격의 원칩 80C196KC와 각도제어를 위해 EPROM을 이용하였다. 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 제안된 시스템의 역률 개선을 확인하였다.

  • This paper proposes a design method by varying rotor pole shape to reduce cogging torque, torque ripple and harmonics of back emf in Spoke type brushless DC(BLDC) motor. In the process of design and analysis, Response surface method(RSM) and finite-element method(FEM) are employed to get the rotor geometry and verify the results of new pole shape.

  • Reliability and safety of steer-by-wire concepts can be achieved by redundant designs. This paper discusses the design of a fault tolerant concept for a force feedback actuator with a standard three-phase PMSM. In contrast to usual drives, the phases of the machine are separated electrically. This design allows driving the machine with two instead of three phases in case of a fault. A superimposed torque controller adjusts the influence of fault currents and torque harmonics in two-phase operation and guarantees smooth torque at the steering wheel

  • This paper deals with the magnetic field analysis and compution of cogging torque using an analytical method in high speed brushless motor/generator. The magnetic field is analyzed by solving space harmonics field analysis due to magnetizing distribution and the cogging torque is analyzed by combining field analysis with relative permeance.

  • A predictive current control in the synchronous reference frame with the back EMF estimation using the previous voltages and currents is proposed. To reduce the torque ripple produced by harmonics in the air gap flux, the q-axis current is compensated using the estimated torque constant. The effectiveness of the proposed control is compared to the conventional control scheme through the simulation.
