Topology optimization is applied for the optimal design of various products to ensure weight reduction and productivity improvement. Reducing the weight of the mold while maintaining its rigidity can ensure shortening of the production cycle, stabilization of the mold temperature, and reduction of mold material costs. In this study, a topology optimization technique was applied to the optimal design of the injection mold, and a topology-optimized model of the mold was obtained. First, the injection mold for the square specimens was modeled. Subsequently, a structural analysis was performed by implementing a load condition generated during the injection molding process. Topology optimization was performed based on the structural analysis results, and the models of the initial and topology-optimized designs were manufactured at 1/4 magnification using a 3D printer. Consequently, compared with the existing model, the weight of the topology-optimized model decreased by 9.8%, and the manufacturing time decreased by 7.61%.

There has been much effort to improve the accuracy of the Internet topology model and include its quantitativeand/or qualitative effects on studies of a variety of network problems. Such improvement is the primarymotivation of this paper in listing and classifying the body of literature addressing the Internet topology. Themetrics, which characterize the fundamental properties of the Internet, are also divided into five categories andtheir importance and applications are discussed. Finally, we suggest several future research topics for theInternet topology models to be more realistic and applicable.
The purpose of this study was to develop a new element removal method for ESO (Evolutionary Structural Optimization), which is one of the topology optimization methods. ESO starts with the maximum allowable design space and the optimal topology emerges by a process of removal of lowly stressed elements. The element removal ratio of ESO is fixed throughout topology optimization at 1 or 2%. BESO (bidirectional ESO) starts with either the least number of elements connecting the loads to the supports, or an initial design domain that fits within the maximum allowable domain, and the optimal topology evolves by adding or subtracting elements. But the convergence rate of BESO is also very slow. In this paper, a new element removal method for ESO was developed for improvement of the convergence rate. Then it was applied to the same problems as those in papers published previously. From the results, it was verified that the convergence rate was significantly improved compared with ESO as well as BESO.
In this paper. we analyze networks in accordance with topology which consists of ATM-LAN in order to enhance performance in multimedia environment, We analyze job processing time of Email, FTP and Http server for variance of node in star, ring and mesh topology, We analyze a load factor of Email, FTP and Http server and variance of sending/receiving rate for various topology, We examined that the constituent networks in this paper can minimize load of server in any other topology.
In this paper, we proposed topology aggregation method that efficiently aggregating topology information in simple node topology. And, it improved QoS of networks by improving call success rate and call access time. Proposed method can improving performance of network by decreasing aggregation information and aggregating multi-links information between boundary nodes using the line segment scheme within bandwidth and delay parameter. To evaluate performance of the proposed scheme, we compare/analyze the current method with the proposed scheme in respect to call success rate, access time.

Recently, a topology algorithm based on the artificial bee colony algorithm (ABCA) has been proposed for static and dynamic topology optimization. From the results, the convergence rate of the algorithm was determined to be slightly slow. Therefore, we propose a new search method to improve the convergence rate of the algorithm using a chaotic map. We investigate the effect of the chaotic map on the convergence rate of the algorithm in static and dynamic topology optimization. The chaotic map has been applied to three cases, namely, employ bee search, onlooker bee search, and both employ bee as well as onlooker bee search steps. It is verified that the case in which the logistic function of the chaotic map is applied to both employ bee as well as onlooker bee search steps shows the best dynamic topology optimization, improved by 5.89% compared to ABCA. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed algorithm can effectively be applied to dynamic topology optimization to improve the convergence rate.
Power quality improvement in a three-phase four-wire system is achieved using a new topology of DSTATCOM (distribution static compensator) consisting of a star/delta transformer with a tertiary winding and a three-leg VSC (voltage source converter). This new topology of DSTATCOM is proposed for power factor correction or voltage regulation along with harmonic elimination, load balancing and neutral current compensation. A tertiary winding is introduced in each phase for a delta connected secondary in addition to the star-star windings and this delta connected winding is responsible for neutral current compensation. The dynamic performance of the proposed DSTATCOM system is demonstrated using MATLAB with its Simulink and Power System Blockset (PSB) toolboxes under varying loads. The capacitor supported DC bus of the DSTATCOM is regulated to the reference voltage under varying loads.

A magnetostrictive sensor is used to measure stress waves propagating in a ferromagnetic cylinder without physical contact. The performance of a magnetostrictive sensor is affected most significantly by the bias magnetic field applied around the measurement location. The goal of this paper is to carry out the topology optimization of the bias magnet and yoke assembly to maximize the sensor output for traveling bending waves. We will use the multi-resolution topology optimization strategy to find the assembly of the bias magnet and the yoke that is easy to realize. The effectiveness of the present design is confirmed by an actual measurement of the sensor signal with the proposed bias magnet and yoke configuration.

A parallelized topology optimization is applied to the design of a DVD-pickup bobbin, for which the design objective is to maximize the fundamental frequency within a given mass limit. Unlike the existing serial topology optimization, the present method can deal with a large number of design variables, and thus can yield practical and realistic results. The structural member-sizing filter is also employed to control the topological complexity of the optimized bobbin structure.
An improvement in the current fed parallel resonant half bridge (CFPRHB) circuits used in fluorescent lamp electronic ballasts is provided in this paper. The CFPRHB belongs to the self-oscillating family which includes the current fed push-pull and series resonant inverters, most of which are used in instant-start applications. However, many failure modes are related to the bypass capacitor according to an analysis of failed samples. In this paper, the operating functions of the existing topology in the steady state are analyzed and the main root cause of failure modes has been found. Comparisons between the two topologies are conducted in terms of the voltage stress of the bypass capacitor as well as the thermal and performance of the ballasts to verify the advantages of the proposed topology. It is found that the improved topology is capable of enhancing the reliability and reducing the cost of products without having a negative influence on the system performance.
