링크 도선 길이를 고려한 고성능 비동기식 NoC 토폴로지 생성 기법 (Link-wirelength-aware Topology Generation for High Performance Asynchronous NoC Design)

  • 어플리케이션 특성에 따라 링크 대역폭 요구량이 다양하게 분포하는 이종 (heterogeneous) 아키텍처 기반 네트워크-온-칩 (Network-on-Chip, NoC) 설계에 있어 링크 지연 시간이 독립적으로 설정될 수 있는 비동기식 프로토콜을 적용할 경우 동기식 설계에 비해 성능 향상의 기회가 확대될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 비동기식 NoC에서 각 링크의 대역폭 요구량과 도선 길이에 따른 지연 시간 모델을 제시하고 이를 최적화하는 simulated annealing (SA) 기법을 이용한 플로어플랜 기반 토폴로지 생성 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 생성된 토폴로지와 각 링크의 도선 길이를 기반으로 대응하는 도선 지연시간을 계산하고 로직 합성 단계를 거쳐 생성된 gate-level netlist와 표준지연시간 모델을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 측정하였다. 링크 도선 길이를 고려하지 않은 일반적인 토폴로지 생성 알고리즘인 TopGen과 비교하여, 제안된 알고리즘이 다양한 어플리케이션 실험에서 평균 13.7% 지연 시간 단축 효과 및 처리량 측면 지표인 실행 시간에서 평균 11.8% 감소 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

셀룰러 토폴로지를 이용한 프로그레시브 솔리드 모델 생성 및 전송 (Generation and Transmission of Progressive Solid Models U sing Cellular Topology)

  • Progressive mesh representation and generation have become one of the most important issues in network-based computer graphics. However, current researches are mostly focused on triangular mesh models. On the other hand, solid models are widely used in industry and are applied to advanced applications such as product design and virtual assembly. Moreover, as the demand to share and transmit these solid models over the network is emerging, the generation and the transmission of progressive solid models depending on specific engineering needs and purpose are essential. In this paper, we present a Cellular Topology-based approach to generating and transmitting progressive solid models from a feature-based solid model for internet-based design and collaboration. The proposed approach introduces a new scheme for storing and transmitting solid models over the network. The Cellular Topology (CT) approach makes it possible to effectively generate progressive solid models and to efficiently transmit the models over the network with compact model size. Thus, an arbitrary solid model SM designed by a set of design features is stored as a much coarser solid model SM/sup 0/ together with a sequence of n detail records that indicate how to incrementally refine SM/sup 0/ exactly back into the original solid model SM = SM/sup 0/.

Novel Topology and Control Strategy of HVDC Grid Connection for Open Winding PMSG based Wind Power Generation System

  • To satisfy the high voltage direct current (HVDC) grid connection demand for wind power generation system, a novel topology and control strategy of HVDC grid connection for open-winding permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind power generation system is proposed, in which two generator-side converter and two isolated DC/DC converters are used to transmit the wind energy captured by open winding PMSG to HVDC grid. By deducing the mathematic model of open winding PMSG, the vector control technique, position sensorless operation, and space vector modulation strategy is applied to implement the stable generation operation of PMSG. Finally, the simulation model based on MATLAB is built to validate the availability of the proposed control strategy.

고속 라우터에 대한 고찰(II)-STC104의 망 구성에 따른 성능분석 (Study on High Speed Routers(II)-Performance Analysis on Various Network Topology of STC104)

  • A simulation package has been developed as an event-driven system that can handle the hardware configuration of STC104 and algorithm proposed in the sister paper of ‘Study on High Speed Routers(II).’After various STC104 topology of meshes, torus, and hypercubes are constructed using up to 512 switches, the performance of each topology has been analyzed under different message generation rate in terms of throughputs, latency, and packet blocking time. Modified multicast algorithms for STC104 have been proposed for STC104 after U-mesh and U-torus in order to overcome the multicasting difficulty because of the point-to-point communication method found in STC104. The performance of the multicast algorithms have been analyzed over meshes and torus configuration. Throughput gets higher in the order of mesh, torus, and hypercube. Throughput difference among topology were distinctive in the zone of high message generation rate. Latency and blocking time increased in the order of hypercube, torus, and mesh. U-mesh and U-torus of software multicast showed similar throughput, however, U-mesh peformed slightly better result. These algorithms showed eight to ten times better results compared to individual message pass for 90 destination nodes. Multi-link environment also showed better performance than single-link environment because multi-link network used the extra links for communication.

Generation of OC and MMA topology optimizer by using accelerating design variables

  • The goal of this study is to investigate computational convergence of optimal solutions, with respect to optimality criteria (OC) method and methods of moving asymptotes (MMA) as optimization model for non-linear programming of material topology optimization using an acceleration method that makes design variables rapidly move toward almost 0 and 1 values. 99 line topology optimization MATLAB code uses loop vectorization and memory pre-allocation as properly exploiting the strengths of MATLAB and moves portions of code out of the optimization loop so that they are only executed once as restructuring the program. Numerical examples of a simple beam under a lateral load and a given material density limitation provide merits and demerits of the present OC and MMA for 99 line topology optimization code of continuous material topology optimization design.

10MW급 부유식 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템 플랫폼 초기설계를 위한 위상최적화 응용 (Topology Optimization Application for Initial Platform Design of 10 MW Grade Floating Type Wave-wind Hybrid Power Generation System)

  • 본 연구에서는 10 MW급 부유식 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템의 플랫폼 초기 개념설계를 위해 유한요소해석 기반 위상 최적화를 검토하였다. 실제 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템 플랫폼의 위상최적화를 수행하기 전에 단순화된 구조설계 문제를 이용하여 효율적인 위상최적화 이론을 확인하고자 밀도법과 균질화설계법의 두 가지 위상최적화 이론을 적용하였다. 단순화된 설계 문제의 결과로부터 균질화설계법 이론을 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템의 플랫폼 위상최적화에 적용하였다. 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템의 플랫폼 개념설계를 위해서 유한요소해석 모델을 생성하고 설치해역의 해양환경하중을 고려하여 구조해석을 수행하였다. 설계파 및 조류와 같은 해양환경하중으로부터 기인하는 플랫폼 상의 압력과 계류삭의 인장력을 산출하기 위하여 동수력학 해석을 수행하였다. 구조해석을 위한 하중조건은 부유체 동수력학 해석으로부터의 결과와 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템 중량을 고려하였고, 경계조건은 관성제거법을 사용하여 구현하였다. 밀도법 기반 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템 플랫폼의 위상최적화 결과로부터 개념설계 단계에서 주요 구조부재의 배치방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구결과로부터 위상최적화는 부유식 파력-풍력 복합발전 시스템과 같은 새로운 형식의 해양구조물 개발에 있어서 주요 구조부재 배치의 개념설계에 대해 유용한 설계도구임을 확인하였다.

A Medium-Voltage Matrix Converter Topology for Wind Power Conversion with Medium Frequency Transformers

  • A new type of topology with medium-frequency-transformer (MFT) isolation for medium voltage wind power generation systems is proposed in this paper. This type of converter is a high density power conversion system, with high performance features suitable for next generation wind power systems in either on-shore or off-shore applications. The proposed topology employs single-phase cascaded multi-level AC-AC converters on the grid side and three phase matrix converters on the generator side, which are interfaced by medium frequency transformers. This avoids DC-Link electrolytic capacitors and/or resonant L-C components in the power flow path thereby improving the power density and system reliability. Several configurations are given to fit different applications. The modulation and control strategy has been detailed. As two important part of the whole system, a novel single phase AC-AC converter topology with its reliable six-step switching technique and a novel symmetrical 11-segment modulation strategy for two stage matrix converter (TSMC) is proposed at the special situation of medium frequency chopping. The validity of the proposed concept has been verified by simulation results and experiment waveforms from a scaled down laboratory prototype.

인터넷 토폴로지 생성 모델에 관한 문헌조사 연구 (A Literature Survey of the Internet Topology Generation Models)

  • There has been much effort to improve the accuracy of the Internet topology model and include its quantitativeand/or qualitative effects on studies of a variety of network problems. Such improvement is the primarymotivation of this paper in listing and classifying the body of literature addressing the Internet topology. Themetrics, which characterize the fundamental properties of the Internet, are also divided into five categories andtheir importance and applications are discussed. Finally, we suggest several future research topics for theInternet topology models to be more realistic and applicable.

  • Compressors are the main source of noise of refrigerators and air-conditioning unit. Recent studies on the sound propagation of rotary compressors showed that the accumulator is a significant source of noise generation. This paper describes a design change of a rotary compressor for noise reduction using topology optimization. Topology optimization has been developed and used to find the most effective structural configuration in the early stage of design procedures. FE model of the rotary compressor composed of all the components is built for the topology optimization. Topology optimization results show that the empirical design for the present structure fail to constrain some resonance modes and a new component is required.

Smooth Boundary Topology Optimization Using B-spline and Hole Generation

  • A topology optimization methodology, named "smooth boundary topology optimization," is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of cell-based methods. Material boundary is represented by B-spline curves and their control points are considered as design variables. The design is improved by either creating a hole or moving control points. To determine which is more beneficial, a selection criterion is defined. Once determined to create a hole, it is represented by a new B-spline and recognized as a new boundary. Because the proposed method deals with the control points of B-spline as design variables, their total number is much smaller than cell-based methods and it ensures smooth boundaries. Differences between our method and level set method are also discussed. It is shown that our method is a natural way of obtaining smooth boundary topology design effectively combining computer graphics technique and design sensitivity analysis.
