A Study on Owners of Smith's Tools (단야구 소유자에 대한 연구)

  • The smith's tool is a tool used for the forging that directly heat-treats and treats ironware. Smith's tools have been thus far excavated from 58 archaeologic sites in Korea, which include 46 hammers, 40 nippers, 5 tweezers, 17 chisels, and 12 anvils, totaling to 120 items. The historic sites from which smith's tools have been excavated indicate 2 sites in Nangnang, 6 in Goguryo, 30 in Silla, 3 in Baekjae, 15 in Gaya, and other 2 sites. Those smith's tools excavated from tumuli in the Three Kingdoms period in Korea are known to be those from the Silla and Gaya areas, and some have been found in the Goguryo and Baekjae areas but require more accumulation of artifacts. Furthermore, the result of having investigated those smith's tools burnt with the corpse in tumulus revealed that smith's tool owners are classified into the blacksmiths who were directly engaged in manufacture and the ruling class who controlled them. Moreover, the smith's tools excavated from large-sized tumulus are presumed to have the potential that symbolically exhibits smithy-iron working, as compared with other funerary objects.   • Purpose : Currently, ICF to describe the functions and disability in the world has been used as a universal language. ICF tools based on ICF, the rehabilitation management of clients have been developed to be efficient. This study was designed to describe clinical decision for functional goal of clients to used ICF tools. Methods : In the following the utilization of all developed ICF tools will be described within a case example of a 53-year-old women, suffering from cerebellum disorder. As problems in the subject's functional activities was difficulties in changes sitting postures, standing postures and maintaining standing postures. Activity limitation was determined change sitting, standing posture as a goal through discussion with the patient. Results : After setting the identified problems as the purpose of intervention through the assessment, we find out the outcomes using the ICF evaluation display. Consequently, with functional activities limitation that discovered from assessment(categorical profile, assessment sheet), sitting postures to standing postures and maintaining standing postures were improved. Conclusion : This study was showed ICF tools based on Rehab-cycle for the patient's functional goals clinical practice. The future study, the ICF in clinical practical tools for effective use will require more attempt.

Developing a World Geography Gamification Lesson Plan with Digital Tools

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a geography class teaching and learning guide that enables learners to realistically explore the characteristics of the world's climate and geographical environment using digital tools. Research design, data and methodology: We review previous research on classes using goal-based scenario learning models, gamification, and digital tools, and explore tools that can be applied to world geography classes. Based on the exploration results, a goal-based scenario learning module is designed and a strategy for promoting educational gamification is established based on the ADDIE instructional design model. Results: The study comprises four sessions. Sessions 1-3 involve performance evaluations using a goal-based scenario learning module. Learners create game characters reflecting geographical characteristics, present results, and proceed with 3D modeling. In Session 4, a gamification class using Google Sites on the CoSpaces metaverse platform will be conducted. Conclusions: The study introduces a goal-based scenario learning model and a gamification class using digital tools to empower learners in exploring geographical diversity and its impact on lifestyles. Utilizing an accessible online platform, the study provides practical measures for integrating digital tools into geography education, addressing the current importance of digital technology in teaching.

A Design of a Metadata for Edutech Tools Distribution

  • Purpose: Edutech, which is the application of information and communication technology to education, is being introduced in various ways across all levels, from primary and secondary education to lifelong education. The purpose of this study was to present metadata about Edutech tools to provide the method for providing various Edutech tools. Research design, data, and methodology: To achieve the research purpose, the necessary elements for the metadata of Edutech tools were first derived based on a literature review. A focus group interview (FGI) with experts was conducted to gather opinions on the developed metadata, further validating its appropriateness. Results: The metadata area consisted of "Basic Information", "Product Information", and "Utilization Information". The "Basic Information" section had 9 items, "Product Information" had 8 items, and "Utilization Information" was presented with 4 items. Conclusions: This study proposed metadata for Edutech tools, which can be utilized to develop distribution system to proliferate and harness various Edutech tools in the educational setting. For the future establishment of an Edutech tool distribution system based on this metadata, it's imperative to operate a credible platform to ensure a stable distribution framework.

  • We have developed software for the SMFD that utilizes a range of graphic design tools. These tools enable us to effortlessly create graphic elements by defining their attributes, such as position and motion. Subsequently, we can convert these designs into source code and execute the resulting software on the target system, leveraging the graphic engines provided by the tools. However, when it comes to developing the displaying software for the SMFD using multiple graphic design tools on a single system, we face various challenges. In this paper, we will delve into these challenges and propose solutions for developing the displaying software for SMFD based on heterogeneous display design tools.

Comparison of Discourse by Environments for Using Tools in Small Group Learning with Augmented Reality (증강현실을 활용한 소집단 학습에서 도구 사용 환경에 따른 담화 비교)

  • In this study, we compared discourse by environments for using tools in terms of participation types, discourse types, and knowledge building processes. 24 first-year high school students were divided into six groups. They were assigned to the sharing tools environment, which used one marker and one smart device, or the individual tools environment, which used markers and smart devices individually. Students participated in small group learning using AR application based on the concept of chemical bonding. All classes were video- and audio-taped. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six students who voluntarily agreed. The results of the study revealed that the sharing tools environment had a high proportion of one-student dominating type, while the individual tools environment had a high proportion of partly participating type and most students participating type. In the individual tools environment, the ratio of knowledge sharing and knowledge construction discourse was similar compared to the tool sharing environment, and the sub-discourse types were also diverse. In the sharing tools environment, only some students had a meaningful knowledge building process. On the other hand, in the individual tools environment, most of the group members constructed knowledge about the target concept, and had a meaningful knowledge building process. In addition, the misconceptions that appeared to some group members were corrected through small group discussions.

  • For about the past decade and a half research efforts into cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have increased dramatically. This is because CRN is recognized as a technology that has the potential to squeeze the most out of the existing spectrum and hence virtually increase the effective capacity of a wireless communication system. The resulting increased capacity is still a limited resource and its optimal allocation is a critical requirement in order to realize its full benefits. Allocating these additional resources to the secondary users (SUs) in a CRN is an extremely challenging task and integer programming based optimization tools have to be employed to achieve the goals which include, among several aspects, increasing SUs throughput without interfering with the activities of primary users. The theory of the optimization tools that can be used for resource allocations (RA) in CRN have been well established in the literature; convex programming is one of them, in fact the major one. However when it comes to application and implementation, it is noticed that the practical problems do not fit exactly into the format of well established tools and researchers have to apply approximations of different forms to assist in the process. In this survey paper, the optimization tools that have been applied to RA in CRNs are reviewed. In some instances the limitations of techniques used are pointed out and creative tools developed by researchers to solve the problems are identified. Some ideas of tools to be considered by researchers are suggested, and direction for future research in this area in order to improve on the existing tools are presented.

Application of General QA Tools to Quality Improvement Activities in a Hospital's Emergency Room (응급실에서의 질 향상 기법 적용)

  • Background : Although a number of studies are related to QA improvement, there are few studies applied various method of QA tools. This study reviewed the availability of general quality assurance(QA) tools according to ten steps in performing quality improvement activities at emergency room of a tertiary teaching hospital which has more than 1,000 beds. Methods : All patients in emergency room from 15th Oct. 1997 to 5th Sep. 1998 were surveyed. The survey data based on the patient's records of emergency room were evaluated according to length of stay, and we tried to identify problems with management of emergency room. To solve the problems, our team applied general QA tools(brainstorming, flow chart, nominal group technique, benchmarking, cause-and-effect diagram, run chart, control chart) to quality improvement activities and discussed the availability of the tools. Results : After the activities such as changes of staffing, the establishment of local area network and chest pain clinic, application of triage and so on, the percentage of patient who had stayed more than six hours was reduced from 56.0% to 46.8%. The mean number of patients per day in emergency room was increased from 49 to 62. But the reporting time for laboratory test was not changed after these activities. Conclusion : Each QA tool has unique benefit and limitation, but we can implement and evaluate the quality improvement activities more scientifically and systematically by applying these tools to practice according to QA ten steps.

Measurement Properties of Self-Report Questionnaires Measuring the Social Adjustment for Youth after Treatment of Childhood Cancer: Systematic Review (소아암 치료 종료 후 청소년의 사회적응 자가 보고 설문지의 측정 속성: 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate measurement properties of self-report questionnaires measuring the social adjustment for youth after treatment of childhood cancer. Methods: Social adjustment measurement tools were identified through a two-stage systematic review. First, we searched for articles using self-report questionnaires to measure the social adjustment of youth after the treatment of childhood cancer. The appropriate tools were listed and categorized. Second, using methodological filters, we searched 5 electronic databases for articles examining the measurement properties of the tools when used with youth after the treatment of childhood cancer. The quality of these papers was then evaluated using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results: Eight tools were frequently used to measure social adjustment. Eight studies investigated the measurement properties of 4 of these tools. The PedsQL 4.0 and MMQL-AF had moderate to strong evidence in some domains, but the rest of the domains had a lack of evidence. The SF-36 and KIDSCREEN-27 were validated for only a few areas. Conclusion: We found a lack of evidence regarding the measurement properties of these tools. More research is required on the measurement properties of tools for use in this population.

  • In recent years, graphics authoring tools have evolved into a variety of formats in line with the rapidly changing digital design field. However, in the field of interface design, screen shape and size depending on the user's environment, it needs more flexible and scalable authoring tools. Along with the emergence of variety of new tools, work processes are also changing. This study investigates what kinds of graphic authoring tools are currently used by designers and compared the result to the case of overseas and examined the difference in the environment of graphic authoring tool. This study looked at criteria and satisfaction of designers choosing authoring tools and how the choice depends on the type of company we are working in and the type of project we are involved in. Research shows that the choice of authoring tools depends on the type and efficiency of the project. Based on this, a reference is provided to establish the standard and working environment for designers and companies to select graphic authoring tools and propose the future direction of graphic authoring tool environments.
