This study is concerned with a job sequencing method using the concept of sampling technique in the case of Job Shop. This is the follow study of Kang and Ro (1988) which examined the possibility of application of sampling technique to determine the Job Sequence in the case of Flow Shop. Not only it is very difficult, but also it takes too much time to develop the appropriate job schedules that satisfy the complex work conditions. The most job sequencing algorithms have been developed to determine the best or good solution under the special conditions or assumptions. The application areas of these algorithms are also very narrow, so it is very hard to find the appropriate algorithm which satisfy the complex work conditions. In this case it is very desirable to develop a simple job sequencing method which can select the optimal job sequence or near optimal job sequence with a little effort. This study is to examine the effect of sampling job sequencing which can select the good job of 0.01%~5% upper good group. The result shows that there is the sets of 0.05%~23% job sequence group which has the same amount of performance measure with the optimal job sequence in the case of experiment of N/M/G/$F_{max}$. This indicates that the sampling job sequencing method is a useful job sequencing method to find the optimal or good job sequence with consuming a small amount of time. The results of ANOVA show that the only one factor, number of machines is the significant factor for determining the job sequence at ${\alpha}=0.01$. It takes about 10 minutes to compare the number of 10,000 samples of job sequence by personal computer and it is proved that the selection rate of the same job sequence with optimal job sequence is 23.0%, 3.9% and 0.065% in the case of 2 machines, 3 machines and 4 machines, respectively. The area of application can readily be extended to the other work condition.
The National Science Fairs has been held in every year for the promotion of science and technology and scientific civil life. The purpose of this study is to survey the current problems in National Science Fairs by making up a question and to improve them. The study makes up a questionnaires about the existing Science Fairs to the teachers who have submitted their works to the Science Fairs and suggest the ways of improvement. The result of questionnaires is that little availability of reference materials, difficulty of paying proper attention to regular classes because of frequent travels, and absence of experimental devices and experimental rooms are perceived as major obstacles in preparing for the exhibition. Respondents teacher also pointed out some problems with the current organization of the exhibition; non-voluntary selection process for the potential authors, separation of research content from regular teaching materials, unrealistically high standard, low participation rate of teachers, so many exhibited works, lack of professionalism in the screening process. The majority however, agreed that the exhibition event should be continuously done, after remedial measures have been taken about the problems. First, the side of science education is emphasized in a purpose of the science fairs to let activity related to science fair be closely connected with school education. Second, students have to be divided according to grade. Third, research level have to be set not too higher than regular instruction content. Fourth, hand book related to science fairs have to be manufactured and spread. Fifth, data of local science fair have to be arranged. Sixth, judging section have to be subdivided and people related to science education have to be included to a judge. Seventh, excellent works have to be support to participate in ISEF.
Deciding on an optimal sensor placement (OSP) is a common problem encountered in many engineering applications and is also a critical issue in the construction and implementation of an effective structural health monitoring (SHM) system. The present study focuses with techniques for selecting optimal sensor locations in a sensor network designed to monitor the health condition of Dalian World Trade Building which is the tallest in the northeast of China. Since the number of degree-of-freedom (DOF) of the building structure is too large, multi-modes should be selected to describe the dynamic behavior of a structural system with sufficient accuracy to allow its health state to be determined effectively. However, it's difficult to accurately distinguish the translational and rotational modes for the flexible structures with closely spaced modes by the modal participation mass ratios. In this paper, a new method of the OSP that computing the mode shape matrix in the weak axis of structure by the simplified multi-DOF system was presented based on the equivalent rigidity parameter identification method. The initial sensor assignment was obtained by the QR-factorization of the structural mode shape matrix. Taking the maximum off-diagonal element of the modal assurance criterion (MAC) matrix as a target function, one more sensor was added each time until the maximum off-diagonal element of the MAC reaches the threshold. Considering the economic factors, the final plan of sensor placement was determined. The numerical example demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
The environmental quality in Korea was significantly deteriorated though the past economic development period. Even though the government has spent huge sum of resources on the policies and projects to improve the environmental quality, it is much removed from what the people hope for. To solve the environmental problems effectively, pollutants generated at source should be kept as minimum as possible, and possible, and pollutants from source be controlled before leaving the sources, and most of all, environmental strategies and systems be established and enforced properly. So, it is not too much to say that nation's environmental quality is entirely dependent on the education and training of the environmental managers such as environmental employees for air, water, and noise discharge facilities, technicians at environmental plants, and environmental officers of central and local governments. Regimes for the improvement of the education and training for environmental managers are suggested into four categories-educational institute, circular of the study, training contents and trainees. Referring to the improvement of integrated institute, and to improvement on educational institute, it is necessary to investigate the feasibility of integrated institute, and to recommend the inclusion of the local colleges and universities, and environmental societies. For the improvement on training courses, it is necessary that the non-obligatory course be expanded, and the courses be developed in such a way to meet the needs from the field. As for the improvement on training contents. It is suggested that the practical training on size be strengthened, and also full time environmental specialist and integrated committee be required to develop the effective circular and selection of proper lectures. Finally, environmental education for high ranked officers of autonomies, and international courses for developing countries are suggested.
1002 Students in the dept. of the dental laboratory technology of 8 college around the nation were surveyed on the three items-the professional attitude, their job-plan after graduation and the conditions and causes exerting influence on their choice of a job. 1. professional Consciousness About the purpose to take a job, 41.8% of all the students replied the economic stability. Another question is on the formation of the professional consiousness. 34.7% said they didn't accomplish it yet, while 32.1% did. This shows that the number of those hwo are resolute isnt's too low in comparison with those not. On the considering factors when they take a job, stability was first favored, with the capacity to improve itself and then profitability following on as second and third. 2. Job-plan after School 78.9% of all wanted to work in their major field as a dental technician. About their knowledge of the job, 60.4% know it well; though, their confidence in getting the job is close to the low level wholly. 3. Factors Having Influence on the selection of a job About the most decisive point in one's choice of job, 37.3% selected first the degree of completion of his major-field knowledge and skill. The most critical person when choosing his job was himself, a great number of students answered. About the working area favored, 52.9% first answered Seoul on the reason why it is a familiar place where their family or relatives have already lived and the special knowledge related to the job is easilly accessed.

Most of the terminologies used in medical domain is not intended to be applied directly in clinical setting but is developed to integrate the terms by defining the reference terminology or concept relations between the terms. Therefore, it is needed to develop the subsets of the terminology which classify categories properly for the purpose of use and extract and organize terms with high utility based on the classified categories in order to utilize the clinical terms conveniently as well as efficiently. Moreover, it is also necessary to develop and upgrade the terminology constantly to meet user's new demand by changing or correcting the system. This study has developed a mapping tool that allows accurate expression and interpretation of clinical terms used for medical records in electronic medical records system and can furthermore secure semantic interoperability among the terms used in the medical information model and generate common terms as well. The system is designed to execute both 1:1 and N:M mapping between the concepts of terms at a time and search for and compare various terms at a time, too. Also, in order to enhance work consistency and work reliability between the task performers, it allows work in parallel and the observation of work processes. Since it is developed with Java, it adds new terms in the form of plug-in to be used. It also reinforce database access security with Remote Method Invocation (RMI). This research still has tasks to be done such as complementing and refining and also establishing management procedures for registered data. However, it will be effectively used to reduce the time and expenses to generate terms in each of the medical institutions and improve the quality of medicine by providing consistent concepts and representative terms for the terminologies used for medical records and inducing proper selection of the terms according to their meaning.
A grouting method is the way to effectively prevent pollutants from spreading into the ground during the digging process of groundwater. This study, based on the comparative study of grouting methods being generally accepted, suggests various construction methods which are suitable for geological structure as follows: In Jeju Island, it is very likely that rocks may fall in shuttered zones such as cracks, joints, scoria layers, and clinker layers. For this reason, it is recommended that materials be injected from the bottom toward the top, not from the top to the bottom. In the case where the amount of injected materials become too large in the areas of cracks or joints because of high level of permeability coefficient, grouting materials which smeared into surrounding areas may cause unwanted cut in the aquifer of the bottom level. To avoid this, the amount of water should be reduced from the typical water-cement ratio of 1:2, and grouting materials with larger grading should be used. If the deep excavation of ground is made in Jeju Island, it is likely to have lots of voids because of geological characteristics. Based on the results of this research, it is found that to construct interior casing, the centralizer should be attached to the casing to prevent the casing from being in contact with the counter fort. The grouting in Jeju Island should be thicker than usual. To avoid over-use of grouting materials, to prevent grouting in more than necessary zone, and to facilitate grouting of void areas, the flexible selection of materials is required. And, to exactly figure out the interior of dug well, an examination through CCTV should necessarily be performed when grouting work is in progress.
Wireless sensor networks have a lot of application areas such as industrial process control, machine and resource management, environment and habitat monitoring. One of the main objects of using wireless sensor networks in these areas is the event detection. To detect events at a user's request, we need a join processing between sensor data and the predicates of the events. If there are too many predicates of events compared with a node's capacity, it is impossible to store them in a node and to do an in-network join with the generated sensor data This paper proposes a predicate-merge based in-network join approach to efficiently detect multiple events, considering the limited capacity of a sensor node and many predicates of events. It reduces the number of the original predicates of events by substituting some pairs of original predicates with some merged predicates. We create an estimation model of a message transmission cost and apply it to the selection algorithm of targets for merged predicates. The experiments validate the cost estimation model and show the superior performance of the proposed approach compared with the existing approaches.
Micro computed tomography (micro-CT) has been used for in vivo animal study owing to its noninvasive and high spatial resolution capability. However, the sizes of existing detectors for micro-CT systems are too small to obtain whole-body images of a small animal object with $\sim$10 micron resolution and a part of its bones or other organs should be extracted. So, we have introduced the zoom-in micro-tomography technique which can obtain high-resolution images of a local region of an live animal object without extracting samples. In order to verify our zoom-in technique, we performed in vivo animal bone study. We prepared some SD (Sprague-Dawley) rats for making osteoporosis models. They were divided into control and ovariectomized groups. Again, the ovariectomized group is divided into two groups fed with normal food and with calcium-free food. And we took 3D tomographic images of their femurs with 20 micron resolution using our zoom-in tomography technique and observed the bone changes for 12 weeks. We selected ROI (region of interest) of a femur image and applied 2D FDT (fuzzy distance transform) to measure the trabecular bone thickness. The measured results showed obvious bone changes and big differences between control and ovariectomized groups. However, we found that the reliability of the measurement depended on the selection of ROI in a bone image for thickness calculation. So, we extended the method to 3D FDT technique. We selected 3D VOI (volume of interest) in the obtained 3D tomographic images and applied 3D FDT algorithm. The results showed that the 3D technique could give more accurate and reliable measurement.
This work is for selecting superior media which is similar to Peat Moss that is in general use as media of Gymnocalycium mihanovichii for Export such as 'Hwang wall' but lower price. The result on growth of 7 kinds of media (Peat Moss, BM6 Culture Medium, Coco Peat, Hydro Cray, Hydro Ball, Hugato, Vermiculite) which are applied watering (overhead irrigation, sub irrigation) based on bichemical analysis including chemical, physical analysis are following. The result of bi-chemical analysis shows that Coco Peat was stabilized planting after 90 days and Hydro Ball has high water holding capacity. The experimental result of growth in grafted cactus 'Hwangwall' shows Coco Peat is similar to Peat Moss on organic matter and in case of inorganic media, Hugato, Vermiculite, Hydro Cray made satisfactory results. But, the weight of inorganic media is too light to be tied. Consequently, Coco Peat and sphagnum moss as organic media has lower price and the condition of growth is analogous to Peat Moss. On the other hands, Hydro Ball was chosen as a substitute of Peat Moss in inorganic media.
