This paper deals with the fabrication of titanium carbide using fine titanium hydride. The ratio of $TiH_2$ and C (Activated carbon) was 1:1 (mol) and milled in a planetary ball mill at a ball-to-powder weight ratio of 20:1. Thereafter, TGA was performed at $1400^{\circ}C$ to observe change of weight with milling time. Titanium carbide was obtained by using tempering the milled powders at $1100-1500^{\circ}C$. The microstructures of titanium carbide as well as the change of the lattice parameters and particle size have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
The occurrence of osteochondroma, osteoma in mandibular condlye is rare.
Sign and symptoms of enlargement of condyle are open bite, cross bite, myofascial symptoms, facial asymmetry.
They are treated via condylectomy, subcondylar ostetomy, etc.
We treated osteochondroma with condylectomy, osteoma with condylectomy & arthroplasty with titanium mesh & resin ball.
Followings are the results
1. Condylectomy of osteochondroma resulted in good function & esthetics except slight deviation of mandible to the operation side during mouth opening.
2. Condylectomy & arthroplasty with titanium mesh & resin ball resulted in good function & esthetics & no deviation of mandible.
In this study, mechanical grinding using a planetary ball mill was performed under various conditions to evaluate its effect on the crystal structure of vanadium titanium magnetite (VTM) ore from the Kwain Mine in South Korea. The crystal structure of the activated product was also evaluated. Magnetite and ilmenite were identified as the main types of VTM ore used in the Kwain Mine, and the main types of gangue minerals were iron-based silicate minerals. According to the mechanical activation results, the crystallinity and crystal size decreased as the size of the grinding media (balls) decreased, and the amorphization of the sample/ball filling was significant as the amount of the sample was reduced. In addition, as the grinding speed and time increased, the crystal structure significantly changed, proving that these two parameters had a greater effect on the crystal structure than the ball size and sample/ball filling ratio.
Aircraft industry is developed very fast so titanium scrap was generated to manufacture. Titanium scrap was wasted and used to deoxidize cast iron so we are study recycling of it. In this research were studied that metal hydride of reacted in hydrogen chamber of AMS4900, 4901, return scrap titanium alloy and sponge titanium granule. The temperature of hydrogenation was 40$0^{\circ}C$ in the case of pure sponge titanium but return scrap titanium alloy were step reaction temperature at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 50$0^{\circ}C$, and after the hydride of titanium alloy were crushed by ball mill for 5h. Titanium hydride contains to 4wt.% of hydrogen theoretically as theory. It was determined by heating and cooling curve in reaction chamber. The result of XRD was titanium hydride peak only that it was similar to pure titanium. Titanium hydride Powder particle size was about 45${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and recovery ratio was 95w% compared with scrap weight for a aluminum foam agent.

The aviation industry has grown beyond the simple processing and assembling of aircraft parts and now designs and exports finished aircraft. In this study, the vertical CNC milling rotational speed and feed rate were parameters to investigate the life of tools according to their shape: (flat, round, and ball end mill) in the rough cutting of titanium. These tools are widely used in aircraft manufacturing and assembly. The purpose of this study is to measure the cutting temperature generated during the cutting process and calculate the rate of tool wear. This will be accomplished by measuring the tool weight before and after cutting the specimen and to compare it with the results of previous studies. Our study showed that the maximum cutting temperature increased as cutting time, tool rotational speed, and feed rate increased. The highest cutting temperatures were recorded for the ball, round, and flat end mill, respectively. Tool wear for the ball, round, and flat end mill increased as the speed and feed rate increased. The flat end mill exhibited the highest rate of wear from a minimum of 0.62% to a maximum of 2.88%.

Ultra-fine grained and dispersion-strengthened titanium materials (Ti-Si, Ti-C, Ti-Si-C) have been produced by high energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS). Silicon or/and carbon were milled together with the titanium powder to form nanometer-sized and homogeneously distributed titanium silicides or/and carbides as dispersoids, that should prevent grain coarsening during the SPS compaction and contribute to strengthening of the material. The microstructures and the mechanical properties showed that strength, hardness and wear resistance of the sintered materials have been significantly improved by the mechanisms of grain refinement and dispersion strengthening. The use of an organic fluid as carrier of the dispersoid forming elements caused a significant increase in ductility.
Titanium powders have been usually produced by de-hydrogenating treatment in vacuum with titanium hydride ($TiH_2$) powders prepared by milling of hydrogenated sponge titanium, $TiH_x$. The higher stoichiometry of x in $TiH_x$, whose maximum value is 2, is achieved, crushing behavior is easier. $TiH_x$ powder can be, therefore, easy to manufactured leading to obtain higher recovery factor of it. In addition, contamination of the powder can also minimized by the decrease of milling time. In this study, the hydrogenation behavior of sponge titanium was studied to find the maximum stoichiometry. The maximum stoichiometry in hydride formation of sponge titanium could be obtained at $750^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs leading to the formation of $TiH_{{\sim}1.99}$ and the treating temperatures lower or higher than $750^{\circ}C$ caused the poor stoichiometries by the low hydrogen diffusivity and un-stability of $TiH_x$, respectively. Such experimental behavior was compared with thermodynamically calculated one. The hydrogenated $TiH_{1.99}$ sponge was fully ball-milled under -325 Mesh and the purity of pure titanium powders obtained by de-hydrogenation was about 99.6%.
The P/M processing of titanium aluminide using amorphous TiAl is developed by which it is possible to overcome inherent fabricability problems and to obtain a fine microstructure. A high quality amorphous TiAl powder produced by reaction ball milling shows clear glass transition far below a temperature at the onset of crystallization in differential scanning calorimetry above a heating rate of 0.05 K/s. We obtained a fully dense compact of amorphous TiAl powders, encapsulated in a vacuumed can, via viscous flow by hot isostatic pressing (HIP). Isothermally annealing of HIP'ed amorphous compact under a pressure of 196 MPa shows a progressive growth of ${\gamma}-TiAl$ phase with ${\alpha}2$ ($Ti_3Al$), which is characterized by increasing sharpness of X-ray peaks with temperature. Fully dense HIP'ed compact of titanium aluminide TiAl shows a high hardness of 505 Hv, suggesting strengthening mechanisms by sub-micron sized grain of ${\gamma}-TiAl$ and particle-dispersion by second phase constituent, ${\alpha}2$.
The synthesis of titanium silicides ($Ti_3Si$, $TiSi_2$, $Ti_5Si_4$, $Ti_5Si_3$ and TiSi) by mechanical alloying has been investigated. Rapid, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reactions were observed to produce the last three phases during room-temperature high-energy ball milling of elemental powders. Such reactions appeared to be ignited by mechanical impact in an intimate, fine powder mixture formed after a critical milling period. During the high-energy ball milling, the repeated impact at contact points leads to a local concentration of energy which may ignite a self-propagating reaction. From in-situ thermal analysis, each critical milling period for the formation of $Ti_5Si_4$, $Ti_5Si_3$ and TiSi was observed to be 22, 35.5 and 53.5 min, respectively. $Ti_3Si$ and $TiSi_2$, however, have not been produced even till the milling period of 360 min due to lack of the homogeneity of the powder mixtures. The formation of titanium silicides by mechanical alloying and the relevant reaction rates appeared to depend upon the critical milling period, the homogeneity of the powder mixtures, and the heat of formation of the products involved.
A variety of composite powders having different aluminum and carbon contents are prepared using various organic solvents having different amounts of carbon atoms in unit volume as ball milling agents for titanium and aluminum ball milling. The effects of substrate temperature and post-heat treatment on the texture and hardness of the coating are investigated by spraying with this reduced pressure plasma spray. The aluminum part of the composite powder evaporates during spraying, so that the film aluminum content is 30.9 mass%~37.4 mass% and the carbon content is 0.64 mass%~1.69 mass%. The main constituent phase of the coating formed on the water-cooled substrate is a non-planar α2 phase, obtained by supersaturated carbon regardless of the alloy composition. When these films are heat-treated at 1123 K, the main constituent phase becomes γ phase, and fine Ti2AlC precipitates to increase the film hardness. However, when heat treatment is performed at a higher temperature, the hardness is lowered. The main constitutional phase of the coating formed on the preheated substrate is an equilibrium gamma phase, and fine Ti2AlC precipitates. The hardness of this coating is much higher than the hardness of the coating in the sprayed state formed on the water-cooled substrate. When hot pressing is applied to the coating, the porosity decreases but hardness also decreases because Ti2AlC grows. The amount of Ti2AlC in the hot-pressed film is 4.9 vol% to 15.3 vol%, depending on the carbon content of the film.
