Thirty five male Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with cadmium chloride solution ranging from 0.2 to 3.2mg $CdCl_2/kg$ by intravenous single injection. At 48 hours after administration of cadmium, total cadmium, MT bound cadmium and histopathologic finding in liver, kidney, lung, heart, testis, metallothionein in liver, kidney and total cadmium in bleed were examined. Tissue cadmium concentration was highest in liver, followed by in kidney, heart, lung and testis. Cadmium bound to rnetallothionein (MT-Cd) and ratio of MT-Cd to total cadmium were increased in liver and kidney dependently of cadmium exposure dose, but not significantly changed in other organs. On histopathologic finding, the most susceptible organ was heart in considering cadmium exposed dose, but testis in considering cadmium concentration. Blood cadmium concentration was increased with dose-dependent pattern, and significantly correlated with tissue cadmium concentration, so that we may estimate tissue cadmium concentration by measurement of blood cadmium concentration. Metallothionein in liver and kidney was increased with dose-dependent pattern, higher in liver than in kidney, and was significantly correlated with tissue cadmium concentration. However, metallothionein induction efficiency of tissue cadmium(${\mu}g\;MT/{\mu}g\;Cd$) was eater in liver than in kidney, and reverse to tissue concentration or exposed dose of cadmium.

Because the Tissue Bound Tritium of food irradiates the organic tissues of a man during a longer time than the Tissue Free Water Tritium, we found the ratio of labile and bound hydrogen, which is the direct source of TBT concentration, in grain such as rice and barley. Tissue free water was extracted from rice and barley sampled, adjacent to Wolsung nuclear power plants of CANDU type, by freeze-drying. Tissue bound water was taken from some of the dried samples by high-pressure combustion. The other of the samples was washed by tritium-free water for 2-3 hours, and dried again by freeze-drying. Tissue bound water was taken again from some of the second dried samples by the combustion. The extracted tissue free and bound waters were distilled and TFWT and TBT concentrations of them were counted by a liquid scintillation counter. Through alternating washing, drying and combustion until the concentration of TBT would be constant, the tritium concentration existing as bound hydrogen was found. The ratios of labile and bound hydrogen of rice and barley were determined by TR concentration, initial TBT concentration and bound tritium concentration. The ratios of bound hydrogen of rice and barley were 0.55, 0.60 relatively.
The concentrations of $\alpha$-tocopherol in the brain, liver, and serum were studied with and without saponification process between control and vitamin E supplemented rats. Young rats, 80-120g body weight, were fed control and vitamin E supplemented diets, ad libitum, for four weeks. $\alpha$-Tocopherol concentrations were determined by high pressure liquid chromatography. The $\alpha$-tocopherol concentration per wet weight base in the brain tissue was significantly lower than that in the liver. Vitamin E supplementation had no effect on brain $\alpha$-tocopherol levels in contrast to the significant increase in lover $\alpha$-tocopherol concentration with and without saponification is significantly greater in the brain than in the liver or serum. Further study is needed to clarify the nature of interaction or /and binding between $\alpha$-tocopherol and the complex membrane system in brain tissue. It can be speculated from this and other studies that the metabolism and the nature of interaction of $\alpha$-tocopherol with the complex membrane system in brain tissue rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids seems different from that in liver tissue or serum.
Xylazine has been used as tranquilizer for food producing animals. The concentration of xylazine and its metabolites in major organs are determined for the safety of meat. Xylazine was eliminated very rapidly as reported and not detected after 10 hrs in organs. However p-hydroxy-xylazine, a main metabolite of xylazine in urine, was detected in liver in the concentration of 0.37-2.58 mg/g tissue to 48 hrs. 2, 6-Dimethylisothiocyanate, another metabolite of xylazine and a possible toxicant, was detected in low concentration to 2 hrs in liver, kidney and muscle.

A whole body physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model was applied to investigate absorption, distribution, and physiologic variations on pharmacokinetics of imatinib in human body. Previously published pharmacokinetic data of the drug after intravenous (i.v.) infusion and oral administration were simulated by the PBPK model. Oral dose absorption kinetics were analyzed by adopting a compartmental absorption and transit model in gut section. Tissue/plasma partition coefficients of drug after i.v. infusion were also used for oral administration. Sensitivity analysis of the PBPK model was carried out by taking parameters that were commonly subject to variation in human. Drug concentration in adipose tissue was found to be higher than those in other tissues, suggesting that adipose tissue plays a role as a storage tissue for the drug. Variations of metabolism in liver, body weight, and blood/plasma partition coefficient were found to be important factors affecting the plasma concentration profile of drug in human body.
The effect of radioactive sulfur-35 on the growth and tissue respiration in rye, Secale cereale L., seedlings were studied in this investigation. The growth and respiration rate of the materials treated with the different intensities of radioactivity, represented by the different concentration(${\mu}c$) of radioactive sulfur were shown similar effects in treated groups as those of Gamma-ray or X-ray irradiation on plant materials. However, in the groups of ($0.1{\mu}c$ and ($0.4{\mu}c$ S35-solution, the growth and respiration rate were stimulated somewhat more clearly than in case of control. And the higher concentration groups, $1.6{\mu}c$, $6.4{\mu}c$, and $25.6{\mu}c$ were depressed of the growth and tissue respiration rate. The present data could be explained on the basis that the higher concentration treatments with the radioactive isotope did produce injury to the plant metabolism generally, but the moderate treatment would stimulate to the plant growth and tissue respiration.
The purpose of this study was to assess the maternal zinc status during pregnancy and to evaluate the relationship between the zinc concentration of maternal, umblical cord blood and placental tissue and pregnancy outcomes. Venous blood samples were drawn from 53 pregnant women just before delivery and the cord blood of their newborn babies was collected immediately after birth. In addition, placental tissues were extracted. We investigated the difference in the concentration of zinc in maternal, umbilical cord blood and placental tissue in two gestational age groups (preform delivery group [PT] and normal term delivery group [NT]) at 34.7 wk and 39.0 wk of mean gestational age, respectively). We also assessed correlations of the zinc concentration of maternal, umbilical cord blood and placental tissue. Lastly, we studied the correlations between the birth weights and the zinc concentration in the maternal, umbilical cord blood and placental tissue. The concentrations of maternal serum zinc and of umbilical cord serum zinc were significantly higher in the PT group (76.9$\pm$37.4 $\mu/dl$, 101.3$\pm$41.4 $\mu/dl$) than in those of the NT group (57.8$\pm$22.4 $\mu/dl$, 80.7$\pm$27.5 $\mu/dl$), respectively (p<0.05). The zinc concentration of the umbilical cord blood was significantly higher than that of the maternal blood in both groups (p<0.05). There was no significant correlation between the gestational age and the serum zinc concentration in the cord or the maternal serum. Our results showed that there was a negative relationship between the birth weight (r=-0.286) and the maternal serum zinc concentration. Despite there not being a significant difference, there was tendency for the highest concentrations of maternal serum zinc to be associated with the lowest birth weights. These findings support a possible relationship between the maternal zinc status and the pregnancy outcome, and suggest that zinc may play a role in the many biological processes involved in the successful outcome of a pregnancy.

This study was designed to find the effect of Minocycline loaded microcapsule applied locally to tissue by measuring drug concentration in tissue and serum by HPLC and to achieve optimal drug delivery system and duration to a specific target site. Control group were administrated minocycline intramuscularly twice a day with $0.2{\mu}g/100g$ for 1 to 10 days. In experimental group, surgical wound was created on Rt. cheek and then minocycline loaded microcapsule was applied into the space between superficial and deep layer of masseter muscle. Animals were sacrificed at 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 days after initial administration, blood was obtained from heart and right masseter muscle was excised. Blood sample was centrifuged at 3000rpm for 15min. Tissue sample was homogenized, left at room temperature for 48hr and centrifuged at 4000g for 5min. Supernatant was completely dried and dissolved in distilled water. Analysis was conducted using a ${\mu}Bondapack$ C18 column. The mobile phase was 0.2M Ammonium Oxalate/0.1M EDTA/DMF=11/4/5 solution, which was injected into the column and detected with photodiode detector at 344nm wavelength. The results were as follows : 1. This method was reliable, could be replicated and suitable for minocycline analysis in tissue as well as serum. 2. In tissue, concentration of minocycline of experimental group was higher than that of control group for 5days. 3. Except 1 day, concentration of minocycline in serum of experimental group was lower than that of control group. 4. Concentration of minocycline in tissue was much higher than that in serum. From these results, minocycline loaded microcapsule might be effective tool for local drug delivery system might be useful for treatment of infections of oral and maxillofacial region and management of infected surgical wound, minimizing systemic effects.
CYPRA 21-1 is known to be a cytokeratin 19 fragment, and it can be detected by using two specific monoclonal antibodies (KS 19-1 and BM 19-21) and can be clinically applied as a useful circulating tumor marker The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R) expression was evaluated and characterized by its tyrosine protein kinase activity and by its ligand-stimulated autophosphorylation, a property shared with other peptide growth factor receptors. Autocrine or para'urine action was initiated by a growth factor, or by a transforming growth factor o, which had an extensive homology with EGP and which also stimulated tyrosine kinase activity on the EGF-R. The CYFRA 21-1 and the EGF-R levels in 30 patients with primary lung tumors were investigated. There were 24 patients with squamous cell carcinomas and 6 patients with adenocarcinomas. Specimen 5 mm3 in size were sampled at three different locations ; the main lesion, the boundary between the lesion and the unaffected tissue, and the unaffected tissue of the patients. The results were as follows 1. The CYPRA 21-1 concentration in the cancer boundary, the most malignant region,(348.6 : 89.9 ng/ml) was the lowest value. The CYFRA 21-1 concentration in unaffected tissue,(718.4$\pm$77.8 ng/ml) was higher than that in the main lesion. which had intact cellularity. 2. The EGF-R concentration in the main lesion was higher than that in the unaffected tissue, and the EGF-R concentration in a squamous cell cacinoma was higher than that in an adenocarcinoma. also, the EGF-R concentration in the cancer b undary was highest at stage 1, ll. The EGF-R concentration was higher in the main cancer lesion that in the unaffected tissue at stage 111, IV. 3. The CYFRA 21-1 was a cytoplasmic skeleton and the EGF-R was a cell-wall component; there was no correlation. In conclusion, CYFRA 21-1 was abundant in the cytoplasm but had a higher concentration in the unaffected tissue than in the main cancer lesion. The CYFRA 21-1 concentration of the tissue did not reflect the amount of cancer activity, the EGP-R was located in the cell membrane, the level of tissue that reflects cancer activity, so the main cancer lesion had a higher concentration than the unaffected tissue. CYFRA 21-1 is not a useful tumor maker at the tissue level. Because the EGF-R concentration re(looted the cancer activity, its a useful tumor marker for lung cancer.

Wet-tissue has been used for baby wipe, cleansing pads, industrial wipes, pain relief, personal hygiene, pet care, and healthcare at home, care facilities, restaurant, and hospital. Raw materials of wet-tissue are mainly natural fibers and synthetic fibers such as cotton, rayon, PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and so on. In this study, electrolytic water of NaCl solution was used as fluid in wet-tissue, and the effect of raw materials on antibacterial rate of wet-tissue was investigated. Rayon (100%) showed an excellent antibacterial rate compared with cotton (100%) and rayon:PET (50:50). Antibacterial rate increased as Cl concentration of electrolytic water increased. Absorption of rayon:PET (50:50) was uneven and antibacterial rate of wet-tissue slightly increased by increase of Cl concentration. Antibacterial rate of wet-tissue was 100% under the conditions of more than 1.5 mL of electrolytic water dosage, and dropped under 50% after storage period of 48 hours.
