Electrochemical Studies on Corrosion Inhibition Behaviour of Synthesised 2-acetylpyridine 4-ethyl-3-thiosemicarbazone and Its Tin(IV) Complex for Mild Steel in 1 M HCl Solution

  • Corrosion inhibition by synthesised ligand, 2-acetylpyridine 4-ethyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (HAcETSc) and its tin(IV) complex, dichlorobutyltin(IV) 2-acetylpyridine 4-ethyl-3-thiosemicarbazone ($Sn(HAcETSc)BuCl_2$) on mild steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) was studied using weight loss measurement, potentiodynamic polarisation, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The inhibition efficiency increases by increasing the inhibitor concentrations. The polarisation study showed that both synthesised compounds were mixed type inhibitors. The electrochemical impedance study showed that the presence of inhibitors caused the charge transfer resistance to increase as the concentration of inhibitors increased. The adsorption of these compounds on mild steel surface was found to obey Langmuir's adsorption isotherm with the free energy of adsorption ${\Delta}G{^o}_{ads}$ of -3.7 kJ/mol and -7.7 kJ/mol for ligand and complex respectively, indicating physisorption interaction between the inhibitors and 1 M HCl solution.

  • 새로운 유기주석(IV) 착물을 $Bu_2SnCl_2$과 N, O 및 S 주개 리간드인 5-(p-dimethylaminobenzylidene)rodanine(HL)로 부터 제조하였다. 염기 존재 하에 리간드는 탈양성자화되며, SnBuCl2L의 분자식을 갖는 착물이 형성되었다. 이 착물은 IR, $^1H$ NMR, $^{119}Sn$ NMR 및 원소분석을 통하여 전반적으로 특성을 분석하였다. 분광학적인 데이터로부터 리간드는 산소원자를 통하여 주석에 배위됨을 알았으며, 배위수가 4임을 용액에서 $^{119}Sn$ NMR 데이터에 의해 결정하였다.

  • New di- and triorganotin(IV) complexes of meta- and para-phenylenebisdithiocarbamate(m- and p-pbdtc) have been synthesized and characterized by means of chemical analysis, mass spectrometry, and IR spectroscopy. The reaction of the m-pbdtc ligand with diorganotin(IV) halides resulted in 1:1 products, $R_2Sn{\cdot}m$-pbdtc (R = Me, Cy, n-Bu) of dimeric nature whereas the p-pbdtc ligand led to an oligomeric or polymeric structure. The pbdtc ligands were also reacted with triorganotin(IV) halides to form monomeric complexes, $(R_3Sn)_2{\cdot}pbdtc.$ The tin coordination chemistry of these complexes were also discussed in terms of Sn-C and Sn-S bonding modes.

염산용액에서 Alamine 336에 의한 주석(IV)의 용매추출 (Solvent Extraction of Sn(IV) from Hydrochloric Acid Solution by Alamine 336)

  • The solvent extraction behavior of Sn(IV) from hydrochloric acid was investigated using Alamine336 (Tri-n-cotylamine) as an extractant. The experimental parameters of the concentration of the HCl solution, chloride ions, extractant, and Sn(IV) were assessed. The results showed that the extraction percentage of Sn(IV) was more than 95% in our experimental range and was only slightly affected by the HCl concentration. The extraction reaction of Sn(IV) by Alamine 336 from the chloride solution was identified as follows: $SnCl_6{^{2-}}+2R_3NHCl_{(org)}=(R_3NH)_2SnCl_{6(org)}+2Cl^-$ and $K=6.3{\times}10^4$. Stripping experiments of Sn(IV) from the loaded organic phase were done by using several stripping agents. A stripping percentage of 90% was obtained with a 2.0 M NaOH solution.

Preparation, Characterization and Catalytic Activity of Tin Dioxide and Zero-Valent Tin Nanoparticles

  • The tin (IV) oxide nanoparticles are prepared by controlled precipitation method and calcined at temperatures of $200-600^{\circ}C$. The prepared $SnO_2$ nanoparticles characterized by XRD patterns, TEM image, IR and UV-Vis spectra. The XRD patterns and TEM image show the tetragonal structure and spherical morphology for $SnO_2$ nanoparticles, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared $SnO_2$ nanoparticles studied in degradation reaction of methylene blue (MB). The results show the size of nanoparticles, band-gap energy and photocatalytic activity of $SnO_2$ depends on the calcinations temperature. The $SnO_2$ nanoparticles calcined at $500^{\circ}C$ indicated the highest photoreactivity. Also, the zero-valent tin (ZVT) nanoparticles with tetragonal structure are prepared by a reducing agent and used as a catalyst in degradation of MB. In basic pH of 11, the degradation >95% of MB at time 150 min obtained at presence of ZVT nanoparticles.

Quinacridone을 첨가시킨 SnO2가 도핑된 TiO2 분말의 광촉매 특성 (Photoactivity of SnO2-Doped TiO2 Powder Sensitized with Quinacridone)

  • $SnO_2$가 도핑된 $TiO_2$ 분말을 tin (IV) bis(acetylacetonate) dichloride와 titanium diisopropoxide bis(acetylacetonate)를 출발물질로, 유기염료인 quinacridone을 첨가하여 합성하였다. 반응 전후 염료의 구조를 FT-IR로 관찰하였고, 입자의 모양과 형태 및 결정의 구조는 FE-SEM과 XRD 분석기로 알아보았다. 환경오염물질로 유기염료인 indigo carmine을 선택하여 관찰한결과, 아나타제 구조를 갖는 quinacridone이 첨가된 분말을 합성하여, 가시광선 영역에서 광분해 효과를 관찰할 수 있었다.

  • $SnO_{2}$가 도핑된 아나타제형의 $TiO_{2}$ 분말을 tin (IV) bis (acetylacetonate) dichloride와 titanium diisopropoxide bis (acetyl- acetonate)를 출발물질로, polyethylene glycol (PEG)을 첨가하여 합성하였다. 반응과정에 대한 구조변화를 FT-IR로 추적하였고, 입자의 모양과 형태 및 결정의 구조는 FE-SEM과 XRD 분석기로 관찰하였다. 합성된 분말의 광촉매 효과는 환경오염물질로 indigo carmine (IC)을 선택하여 UV-visible 스펙트라로 관찰하였다.
