Most domestic and international standards on the forming limit diagram (FLD) including ISO 12004-2, use a 'position-dependent method,' which determines the forming limit from a strain distribution measured on the specimen after necking or fracture. However, the position-dependent method has inherent problems such as the incidence of asymmetry of a strain distribution, the estimation of missing data near fracture, the termination time of test, and the deformation due to the new stress equilibrium after a fracture, which is blamed for causing sometimes a significant lab-to-lab variation. The 'time-dependent method,' which is anticipated to be a new international standard for evaluating the forming limit, is expected to greatly improve these intrinsic disadvantages of the position-dependent method. It is because the time-dependent method makes it possible to identify and accurately determine the forming limit, just before the necking point from the strain data as continuously measured in a short time interval. In this study, we propose a new time-dependent method based on a Gaussian fitting of strain acceleration with the introduction of 'normalized correlation coefficient.' It has been shown in this study that this method can determine the forming limit very stably and gives a higher value, which is in comparison with the results of the previously studied position-dependent and time-dependent methods.
The time-dependent tracking inversion method is developed to extract the potential of the excited state from frequency-domain measurements, such as the absorption profile. Based on the relay of the regularized inversion procedure and time-dependent wave-packet propagation, the algorithm extract the underlying potential piece by piece by tracking the time-dependent data which can be synthesized from frequency-domain measurements. We have demonstrated the algorithm to extract the potential of excited state for a model diatomic molecule. Finally, we describe the merits of the time-dependent tracking inversion method compared to the time-dependent inversion and discuss several extensions of the algorithm.

Qu et. al. (2000) proposed the quadratic inference functions (QIF) method to marginal model analysis of longitudinal data to improve the generalized estimating equations (GEE). It yields a substantial improvement in efficiency for the estimators of regression parameters when the working correlation is misspecified. But for the longitudinal data with time-dependent covariates, when the implicit full covariates conditional mean (FCCM) assumption is violated, the QIF can not provide more consistent and efficient estimator than GEE (Cho and Dashnyam, 2013). Lai and Small (2007) divided time-dependent covariates into three types and proposed generalized method of moment (GMM) for longitudinal data with time-dependent covariates. They showed that their GMM type II and GMM moment selection methods can be more ecient than GEE with independence working correlation (GEE-ind) in the case of type II time-dependent covariates. We develop upgraded QIF method for type II time-dependent covariates. We show that this upgraded QIF method can provide substantial gains in efficiency over QIF and GEE-ind in the case of type II time-dependent covariates.
This paper deals with a research about the time-dependent behavior analysis for pre-tensioned high-performance concrete(HPC) members. By improving AASHTO-LRFD(2004) method for predicting the creep and shrinkage of normal concrete, and the relaxation of prestressing tendon, a time-dependent behavior analysis of high-performance concrete structures has been introduced. Two methods, the step-function method and the time-step method have been incorporated in the time-dependent analysis. The developed program can predict the initial and time-dependent losses of prestressing forces and the deflections of high-performance concrete structures. The present model has been verified by comparing with the experimental results from the test of time-dependent behaviors of pre-tensioned members using high-performance concrete. From this, the current model gives good relations with the experimental results, but the AASHTO method is not good for the prediction of time-dependent behaviors of high-performance concrete members.

The steady-state simplified spherical harmonics equations (SPN equations) are a higher order approximation to the neutron transport equations than the neutron diffusion equation that also have reasonable computational demands. This work extends these results for the analysis of transients by comparing of two formulations of time-dependent SPN equations considering different treatments for the time derivatives of the field moments. The first is the full system of equations and the second is a diffusive approximation of these equations that neglects the time derivatives of the odd moments. The spatial discretization of these methodologies is made by using a high order finite element method. For the time discretization, a semi-implicit Euler method is used. Numerical results show that the diffusive formulation for the time-dependent simplified spherical harmonics equations does not present a relevant loss of accuracy while being more computationally efficient than the full system.
In this study, the stresses and electric potential redistributions of a cylinder made from functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) are investigated. All the mechanical, thermal and piezoelectric properties are modeled as power-law distribution of volume fraction. Using the coupled electro-thermo-mechanical relations, strain-displacement relations, Maxwell and equilibrium equations are obtained including the time dependent creep strains. Creep strains are time, temperature and stress dependent, the closed form solution cannot be found for this constitutive differential equation. A semi-analytical method in conjunction with the Mendelson method of successive approximation is therefore proposed for this analysis. Similar to the radial stress histories, electric potentials increase with time, because the latter is induced by the former during creep deformation of the cylinder, justifying industrial application of such a material as efficient actuators and sensors.
The time-dependent tracking inversion method is studied to extract the potential energy surface of the electronic excited state in the photodissociation of triatomic molecules. Based on the relay of the regularized inversion procedure and time-dependent wave packet propagation, the algorithm extracts the underlying potential energy surface piece by piece by tracking the time-dependent data, which can be synthesized from Raman excitation profiles. We have demonstrated the algorithm to extract the potential energy surface of electronic excited state for NO2 molecule where the wave packet split on a saddle-shaped surface. Finally, we describe the merits of the time-dependent tracking inversion method compared with the time-independent inversion method and discussed several extensions of the algorithm.
One of the possible alternatives of simulation-based time-dependent reliability assessment of pre-stressed biconcave and biconvex cable trusses, the Monte Carlo method, is applied in this paper. The influence of an excessive deflection of cable truss (caused by creep of cables and rheologic changes) on its time-dependent serviceability is investigated. Attention is given to the definition of the basic random variables and their statistical functions (basic, mutually dependent random variables such as the pre-stressing forces of the bottom and top cable, structural geometry, the Young's modulus of elasticity of the cables, and the independent variables, such as permanent load, wind, snow and thermal actions). Then, the determination of the response of the cable truss to the loading effects, and the definition of the limiting values considering serviceability of the structure are performed. The potential of the method, using direct Monte Carlo technique for simulation-based time-dependent reliability assessment as a powerful tool, is emphasized. Results obtained by the First order reliability method (FORM) are compared with those obtained by the Monte Carlo simulation technique.

The quadratic inference functions (QIF) method proposed by Qu et al. (2000) and the generalized method of moments (GMM) for marginal regression analysis of longitudinal data with time-dependent covariates proposed by Lai and Small (2007) both are the methods based on generalized method of moment (GMM) introduced by Hansen (1982) and both use generalized estimating equations (GEE). Lai and Small (2007) divided time-dependent covariates into three types such as: Type I, Type II and Type III. In this paper, we compared these methods in the case of Type II and Type III in which full covariates conditional mean assumption (FCCM) is violated and interested in whether they can improve the results of GEE with independence working correlation. We show that in the marginal regression model with Type II time-dependent covariates, GMM Type II of Lai and Small (2007) provides more ecient result than QIF and for the Type III time-dependent covariates, QIF with independence working correlation and GMM Type III methods provide the same results. Our simulation study showed the same results.

We consider a general semiparametric additive risk model that consists of three components. They are parametric, purely and smoothly nonparametric components. In parametric component, time dependent term is known up to proportional constant. In purely nonparametric component, time dependent term is an unknown function, and time dependent term in smoothly nonparametric component is an unknown but smoothly function. As an estimation method of this model, we use the weighted least square estimation by Huffer and McKeague (1991). We provide an illustrative example as well as a simulation study that compares the performance of our method with the ordinary least square method.
