  • This paper proposes a call admission control(CAC) method for wireless networks, which is based on the upper bound of a possibility distribution of handoff calls dropping rates. The possibility distribution is estimated in a fuzzy inference and a learning algorithm in neural network. The learning algorithm is considered for tuning the membership functions(then parts)of fuzzy rules for the inference. The fuzzy inference method is based on a weighted average of fuzzy sets. The proposed method can avoid estimating excessively large handoff calls dropping rates, and makes possibile self-compensation in real time for the case where the estimated values are smaller than real values. So this method makes secure CAC, thereby guaranteeing the allowed CDR. From simulation studies we show that the estimation performance for the upper bound of call dropping rate is good, and then handoff call dropping rates in CAC are able to be sustained below user's desired value.

  • Since the global positioning system (GPS) has been included in mobile devices (e.g., for car navigation, in smartphones, and in smart watches), the impact of personal GPS log data on daily life has been unprecedented. For example, such log data have been used to solve public problems, such as mass transit traffic patterns, finding optimum travelers' routes, and determining prospective business zones. However, a real-time analysis technique for GPS log data has been unattainable due to theoretical limitations. We introduced a machine learning model in order to resolve the limitation. In this paper presents a new, three-stage real-time prediction model for a person's daily route activity. In the first stage, a machine learning-based clustering algorithm is adopted for place detection. The training data set was a personal GPS tracking history. In the second stage, prediction of a new person's transient mode is studied. In the third stage, to represent the person's activity on those daily routes, inference rules are applied.

  • In this paper, we proposed the Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(FPNN) model with fuzzy activation node. The proposed FPNN structure is generated from the mutual combination of PNN(Polynomial Neural Networks) structure and fuzzy inference system. The premise of fuzzy inference rules defines by triangular and gaussian type membership function. The fuzzy inference method uses simplified and regression polynomial inference method which is based on the consequence of fuzzy rule expressed with a polynomial such as linear, quadratic and modified quadratic equation are used. The structure of FPNN is not fixed like in conventional Neural Networks and can be generated. The design procedure to obtain an optimal model structure utilizing FPNN algorithm is shown in each stage. Gas furnace time series data used to evaluate the performance of our proposed model.

  • In diploid organisms like human, each chromosome consists of two copies. A haplotype is a SNP(single nucleotide polymorphism) sequence information from each copy. Finding the complete map of haplotypes in human population is one of the important issues in human genome. To obtain haplotypes via experimental methods is both time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, inference methods have been used to infer haplotyes from the genotype samples. In this paper, we propose a new approach using genetic algorithm to infer haplotypes, which is based on the model of finding the minimum number of haplotypes that explain the genotype samples. We show that by doing a computational experiment, our algorithm has the correctness similar to HAPAR[1] which is known to produce good results while the execution time of our algorithm is less than that of HAPAR as the input size is increased. The experimental result is also compared with the result by the recent method PTG[2].

  • Fuzzy inference systems have found many applications in recent years. The fuzzy inference system design procedure is related to an expert or a skilled human operator in many fields. Various attempts have been made in optimizing its structure using genetic algorithm automated designs. This paper presents a new approach to structurally optimized designs of FNN models. The messy genetic algorithm is used to obtain structurally optimized fuzzy neural network models. Structural optimization is regarded important before neural network based learning is switched into. We have applied the method to the problem of a time series estimation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme of motion tracking based on fuzzy inference (FI)and wavelet transform (WT) from image sequences. First, we present a WT to segment a feature extraction of dynamic image . The coefficient matrix for 2-level DWT tent to be clustered around the location of important features in the images, such as edge discontinuities, peaks, and corners. But these features are time varying owing to the environment conditions. Second, to reduce the spatio-temporal error, We develop a fuzzy inference algorithm. Some experiments are peformed to testify the validity and applicability of the proposed system. As a result, proposed method is relatively simple compared with the traditional space domain method. It is also well suited for motion tracking under the conditions of variation of illumination.

  • Inference process of resolution-based automated reasoning easily consumes the memory of computer without giving any useful result by priducing lots of fruioless information which are not necessary for the conslusion. This paper suggests a control strategy for saving the space of computer memory and reducing the inference time. The strategy uses a restriction that comparatively irrelevant axioms do mot take pare in the resoluition. In order to analyze and determine the priorities of the input axioms of joning the inference process, the system employs the fuzzy relational products.

  • In this study, we introduce a new architecture of fuzzy inference system. In the fuzzy inference system, we use Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm to form the premise part of the rules. The membership functions standing in the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms, but for any input the resulting activation levels of such radial basis functions directly depend upon the distance between data points by means of the Fuzzy C-Means clustering. As the consequent part of fuzzy rules of the fuzzy inference system (being the local model representing input output relation in the corresponding sub-space), four types of polynomial are considered, namely constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic. This offers a significant level of design flexibility as each rule could come with a different type of the local model in its consequence. Either the Least Square Estimator (LSE) or the weighted Least Square Estimator (WLSE)-based learning is exploited to estimate the coefficients of the consequent polynomial of fuzzy rules. In fuzzy modeling, complexity and interpretability (or simplicity) as well as accuracy of the obtained model are essential design criteria. The performance of the fuzzy inference system is directly affected by some parameters such as e.g., the fuzzification coefficient used in the FCM, the number of rules(clusters) and the order of polynomial in the consequent part of the rules. Accordingly we can obtain preferred model structure through an adjustment of such parameters of the fuzzy inference system. Moreover the comparative experimental study between WLSE and LSE is analyzed according to the change of the number of clusters(rules) as well as polynomial type. The superiority of the proposed model is illustrated and also demonstrated with the use of Automobile Miles per Gallon(MPG), Boston housing called Machine Learning dataset, and Mackey-glass time series dataset.
