  • In this paper, we describe the proposed KVN (Korean VLBI Network) clock system in order to make the observation of the VLBI effectively. In general, the GPS system is widely used for the time information in the single dish observation. In the case of VLBI observation, a very high precise frequency standard is needed to perform the observation in accordance with the observation frequency using the radio telescope with over 100km distance. The objective of the high precise clock system is to insert the time-tagging information to the observed data and to synchronize it with the same clock in overall equipments which used in station. The AHM (Active Hydrogen Maser) and clock system are basically used as a frequency standard equipments at VLBI station. This system is also adopted in KVN. The proposed KVN clock system at each station consists of the AHM, GPS time comparator, standard clock system, time distributor, and frequency standard distributor. The basic experiments were performed to check the AHM system specification and to verify the effectiveness of implemented KVN clock system. In this paper, we briefly introduce the KVN clock system configuration and experimental results.

  • Due to the traffic congestion of the city and public transportation-oriented policies, public transportation is receiving more attention and being used increasingly However, relatively less research on the design and distribution of public transportation network and limitations in quantitative approaches have made implementation and operation practically difficult. Over- or under-supply of transportation routes caused unbalanced connectivity among areas and differences in time, expenses and metal burden of users. On the other hand, the Space Syntax theory, designed to calculate the connectivity of urban or architectural space, helps generate quantitative connectivity of whole space simply based on the spacial structure. This study modified the original Space Syntax algorithm to fit the public transportation problem and showed how it is appied to a network by creating an artificial network using the GIS.

  • The paper has developed a methodology of calculating accessibility in bus network by using a space syntax technique. The purpose is an effective analysis of accessibility improvement before and after Seoul bus reorganization. Space syntax methodology has an advantage to calculate easily network connectivity and accessibility. However, it also has a weakness not to consider the distance and travel time for calculating accessibility. As a result, we have developed a hybrid of the space syntax methodology and the travel time measures. This method has been applied to evaluate the accessibility before and after the hierarchical bus systems introduced in Kangnam area of Seoul.

  • This article investigates the topology control problem in the space information network (SIN) using a hierarchical autonomous system (AS) approach. We propose an AS network topology control (AS-TC) algorithm to minimize the time delay in the SIN. Compared with most existing approaches for SIN where either the purely centralized or the purely distributed control method is adopted, the proposed algorithm is a hybrid control method. In order to reduce the cost of control, the control message exchange is constrained among neighboring sub-AS networks. We prove that the proposed algorithm achieve logical k-connectivity on the condition that the original physical topology is k-connectivity. Simulation results validate the theoretic analysis and effectiveness of the AS-TC algorithm.

  • The Optical Wide-field patroL-Network (OWL-Net) is a global optical network for Space Situational Awareness in Korea. The primary operational goal of the OWL-Net is to track Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites operated by Korea and to monitor the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) region near the Korean peninsula. To obtain dense measurements on LEO tracking, the chopper system was adopted in the OWL-Net's back-end system. Dozens of angle-only measurements can be obtained for a single shot with the observation mode for LEO tracking. In previous work, the reduction process of the LEO tracking data was presented, along with the mechanical specification of the back-end system of the OWL-Net. In this research, we describe an integrity assessment method of time-position matching and verification of results from real observations of LEO satellites. The change rate of the angle of each streak in the shot was checked to assess the results of the matching process. The time error due to the chopper rotation motion was corrected after re-matching of time and position. The corrected measurements were compared with the simulated observation data, which were taken from the Consolidated Prediction File from the International Laser Ranging Service. The comparison results are presented in the In-track and Cross-track frame.

  • Because of the rapid increase of mobile traffic, flexible broadband supportive unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based 6G mobile networks using free space optical (FSO) links have been recently proposed. Considering the advancements made in UAVs, big data processing, and artificial intelligence precision control technologies, the formation of an additional wireless network based on UAV aerial platforms to assist the existing fixed base stations of the mobile radio access network is considered a highly viable option in the near future. In this paper, a combined time bound optimization scheme is proposed that can adaptively satisfy the control and communication time constraints as well as the processing time constraints in FSO-based 6G UAV aerial networks. The proposed scheme controls the relation between the number of data flows, input data rate, number of worker nodes considering the time bounds, and the errors that occur during communication and data processing. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is very effective in satisfying the time constraints for UAV control and radio access network services, even when errors in communication and data processing may occur.

  • Real-time data reduction pipeline for the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) was developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). The main goal of the data reduction pipeline is to find variable objects and to record their light variation from the large amount of observation data of about 200 GB per night per site. To achieve the goal we adopt three strategic implementations: precision pointing of telescope using the cross correlation correction for target fields, realtime data transferring using kernel-level file handling and high speed network, and segment data processing architecture using the Sun-Grid engine. We tested performance of the pipeline using simulated data which represent the similar circumstance to CTIO (Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory), and we have found that it takes about eight hours for whole processing of one-night data. Therefore we conclude that the pipeline works without problem in real-time if the network speed is high enough, e.g., as high as in CTIO.

  • Relationship between body and space is fundamental in space design. The perception and concept of human body in each age directly affected the space makings of that time. Thoughts on human body are related to various periodical backgrounds such as culture, art, technology and etc. Body-Space relationship has been changed through different epochs and is being changed in the present time too. In contemporary cities, architectural programs has been fragmented and activities of individuals become more articulated. The rigidity of each architectural program has been forced to be more flexible amalgamation of diverse behaviors by dynamic urban time-space formations and patterns. Based on this current situations, new experimental designs that question the existing preconceived relationship between body and space in different views. These design experiments attempt to overcome the solid physical fixation of architectural buildings and to directly relate human body to intelligent devices, technologies, machines as well as spaces. This research focus on the innovative design projects in which body, machine, space are smartly compound as one organization. The purpose of this study is to examine the new Body-Space relationship as well as some relevant case projects in contemporary fashion, furniture, interior design and architecture.

  • Time-Space-Time(T-S-T) switching network is modeled as a graceful degrading system. Call blocking probability is defined as a measure of performance. Several performance related measures are suggested under the presence of failure. An optimization model is proposed, which determines optimal values of system parameters of the switching network.

  • We present the results of flux monitoring of BL Lac object 0716+71 and 0954+65 at 22GHz and 43GHz. Both of the flat spectrum radio sources are known as Intraday variables (IDVs) which are characterized by fast flux variation on time scales of a day or less. In general, the IDV phenomenon is interpreted as the effect of refractive scintillation in the interstellar medium or the evidence of source intrinsic flux variation. The observations were made simultaneously at 22GHz and 43GHz with KVN Yonsei 21m radio telescope.
