  • In this study, the time-domain simulations have been performed for analysing the ship behaviour during berthing process with comparing the two different mathematical models for low and normal advance speed of a ship and the results have been presented. For the first step of programming, the traditional PD (Proportional Derivative) controller has been used for the control of speed and rudder and a tanker ship has been used as a simulation model. This study provides comparative results on the time-domain simulation of berthing operation of a ship for developing an effective simulation programme.

  • In this paper, we deal with forward-looking imaging, and focus on forward-looking synthetic inverse scattering imaging for a vehicle with curved motion. For image formation, time domain correlation(TDC) is used and a 2D image of the ground in front of the vehicle is generated. Because TDC is a technique that implements matched filtering for a space-variant system, it is robust to Gaussian additive noise of measurements. Furthermore, comparison and analysis between images from linear motion and curved motion show that the resolution of the image is improved; however, the entropy of the image is increased owing to curved motion.

  • A floating bridge is an innovative solution for deep-water and long-distance crossing. This paper presents a curved floating bridge's dynamic behaviors under the wind, wave, and current loads. Since the present curved bridge need not have mooring lines, its deep-water application can be more straightforward than conventional straight floating bridges with mooring lines. We solve the coupled interaction among the bridge girders, pontoons, and columns in the time-domain and to consider various load combinations to evaluate each force's contribution to overall dynamic responses. Discrete pontoons are uniformly spaced, and the pontoon's hydrodynamic coefficients and excitation forces are computed in the frequency domain by using the potential-theory-based 3D diffraction/radiation program. In the successive time-domain simulation, the Cummins equation is used for solving the pontoon's dynamics, and the bridge girders and columns are modeled by the beam theory and finite element formulation. Then, all the components are fully coupled to solve the fully-coupled equation of motion. Subsequently, the wet natural frequencies for various bending modes are identified. Then, the time histories and spectra of the girder's dynamic responses are presented and systematically analyzed. The second-order difference-frequency wave force and slowly-varying wind force may significantly affect the girder's lateral responses through resonance if the bridge's lateral bending stiffness is not sufficient. On the other hand, the first-order wave-frequency forces play a crucial role in the vertical responses.

  • In this study, the time delay model were simulated using the well-known AR model. Frequency response of the time delay model can be obtained by mapping AR model to JTC model in the time domain. That is, from the few measurement data in JTC model, the channel frequency response can be obtained by the estimation of AR model parameters. From this channel frequency response, the time delay model can be obtained using Fourier transformation. To prove the validity of the suggested method, three models of JTC were shown and analyzed.

  • The problem of sub-Nyquist nonuniform sampling for the perfect reconstruction of signals with time-varying spectral contents is studied. The signals are assumed to have a known instantaneous bandwidth in time-frequency domain. As the function of time, the nonuniform sampling pattern of a given signal, that is, the instantaneous sampling frequency is determined by the observation of instantaneous bandwidth based on time-frequency analysis. The proposed sampling pattern guarantees the perfect reconstruction of nonuniform sampled signals under Nyquist-sampling rate in average.

  • A space-time finite element method was presented for time dependent problem. The method which treat both the space and time unformly were proposed and numerically tested. The weighted residual process was used to formulate a finite element method in a space-time domain based upon continuous Galerkin method. This method leads to a conditional stabie high-order accurate solver.

  • A time-domain panel method based on the potential flow theory and the time-stepping method is developed to predict the steady/unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of FM07, which is the BWB (Blended-wing body) type MAV. In the aerodynamic analyses, we used two types of the initial model(Case I) and the improved model(Case II), which is moved the gravity center toward the rear and has larger aspect ratio. In the steady aerodynamic analyses, it is revealed that improved model has higher lift to drag ratio(L/D) and more stable pitch characteristic than those of the initial model. In the unsteady aerodynamic analyses for sudden acceleration motion similar to the launch phase of MAV, it seemed that there is a rapid increase of the lift coefficient after the launch and unsteady results are good agreed compare with steady results in just a few times. In the analysis for pitch oscillation motion, which is occurred at the cruise condition of the FM07, it shows that unsteady aerodynamic coefficients looped around steady results and the improved model has more sensitive aerodynamic characteristics.

  • In this paper, we propose a power allocation scheme of the unlicensed user based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in the TV white space (TVWS). Power constraints in TVWS should be satisfied in the time domain. However, because OFDM has high PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio), it is difficult to satisfy power constraints of TVWS in the time domain. Furthermore, the conventional power allocation schemes cannot be generally applied to unlicensed user in TVWS. Therefore, we propose a power allocation scheme to satisfy power constraints of TVWS by reducing PAPR in the time domain. In addition, we analyze the capacity of the unlicensed user based on OFDM in a closed form. Based on the capacity analysis, as the number of subcarriers decreases, the capacity can be enhanced. In simulation results, we show that the capacity of the unlicensed user increases, as the number of subcarriers decreases and the mean of the channel between the transmitter and the receiver of the unlicensed user increases.

  • Time-reversal (TR) precoding focuses the energy of the effective channel in time and improves receive performance of a single tap receiver. Frequency-domain equal-gain-combining (FD-EGC) TR scheme, which works in linear block precoding fashion, has better temporal focusing performance than the traditional TR. Also, the FD-EGC improves receive performance of minimum mean square error receiver with distributed antenna systems (DAS). The detailed receive performance of the FD-EGC was analyzed in our previous work. In this paper, we focused on capacity analysis of the FD-EGC in DAS. We derived a scaling law which shows how the use of multiple antenna can increase the capacity of the FD-EGC precoding compared with that of no precoding. In addition, we analyze the secrecy rate of the FD-EGC which shows how high-rate messages can be transmitted towards an intended user without being decoded by the other users from the view point of information theoretic security.

  • We proposed a PPLN fabrication setup that measures the voltage and current applied to $LiNbO_3$ in real time during application of a DC electric field. Because the duration for transferring a sufficient electron charge to $LiNbO_3$ increases, we are able to control the electron charge flow transferred to $LiNbO_3$ efficiently. We divided the domain inversion process of PPLN into 5 states: Nucleation (state 1), Spread of the domain inversion region under the electrode(state 2), Accumulation of the electron charge at the insulator/$LiNbO_3$ interface(state 3), Domain inversion under the insulator layer after breakdown(state 4), and Lowering the electric field applied to $LiNbO_3$ (state 5). We have found that the Threshold Point is essential for the domain inversion and that the domain inversion process must be stopped within state 3 for the optimum PPLN. Using these results, we could fabricate a stable and reproducible PPLN efficiently.
