  • This paper proposes a realistic electrical train to apply it to EMTDC. The pattern of a train operation always changes on the time domain. The impedance load generally does not represent it at this point. Therefor, we operated a realistic simulation by using measured data at field. Of course we might use the results of TPS.

  • A study to evaluate the seismic response of $\frac{1}{2}$-scaled liquid storage tank constructed in Hualien, is performed. And this study is to identify the liquid-structure-soil interaction by observed earthquake data ans analyzed results. After the calculation of soil impedance for the test site by SASSI code, 3-dimensional seismic response analysis is performed by BEM-FEM-Impedance Method with the consideration of liquid-structure-soil interaction when the tank is excited by real earthquake. The observed acceleration and hydrodynamic pressure are compared with the numerical results. This comparisons show good agreement in predominant frequency and maximum hydrodynamic pressure. And the free surface sloshing motion due to earthquake loadings is computed in time domain.

  • The various spectral density functions of wind are applied in the wind process simulation by the spectral representation method. In view of the spectral density functions, the characteristics of the simulated processes are compared. The ensemble spectral density functions constructed from the simulated sample processes are revealed to have the similarity not only in global shape but also in the maximum values with the target spectral density functions with a high accuracy. For the correlation structure to be satisfied in the circumferential direction on the cooling tower shell, a new formula is suggested based on the mathematical expression representing the circumferential distribution of the wind pressure on the cooling tower shell. The simulated wind processes are applied in the dynamic analysis of cooling tower shell in the time domain and the fluctuating stochastic behavior of the cooling tower shell is investigated.

  • In this paper a different formulation for the response of structural systems controlled by Tuned Liquid Column Damper (TLCD) devices is developed, based on the mathematical tool of fractional calculus. Although the increasing use of these devices for structural vibration control, it has been demonstrated that existing model may lead to inaccurate prediction of liquid motion, thus reflecting in a possible imprecise description of the structural response. For this reason the recently proposed fractional formulation introduced to model liquid displacements in TLCD devices, is here extended to deal with TLCD controlled structures under base excitations. As demonstrated through an extensive experimental analysis, the proposed model can accurately capture structural responses both in time and in frequency domain. Further, the proposed fractional formulation is linear, hence making identification of the involved parameters extremely easier.

  • This paper presents a numerical analysis of slamming and whipping using a fully coupled hydroelastic model. The coupled model uses a 3-D Rankine panel method, a 1-D or 3-D finite element method, and a 2-D Generalized Wagner Model (GWM), which are strongly coupled in time domain. First, the GWM is validated against results of a free drop test of wedges. Second, the fully coupled method is validated against model test results for a 10,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containership. Slamming pressures and whipping responses to regular waves are compared. A spatial distribution of local slamming forces is measured using 14 force sensors in the model test, and it is compared with the integration of the pressure distribution by the computation. Furthermore, the pressure is decomposed into the added mass, impact, and hydrostatic components, in the computational results. The validity and characteristics of the numerical model are discussed.

  • 풍하중이 작용하는 교량의 응답을 구하기 위하여 RFA(Rational Function Approximation)와 같은 시간 영역해석법이 널리 사용되고 있다.

  • A novel triangular-shaped plasmonic metal-insulator-metal (MIM) Bragg grating waveguide is introduced, whose band-gap is narrower than that of the conventional step type and wider than that of the sawtoothshaped one. Moreover apodized triangular-shaped MIM Bragg grating structures are proposed in order to reduce the side lobes of the transmission spectrum, because the Bragg reflector with a sawtooth profile has a smoother transmission spectrum than that of a triangular-shaped one. The performance of the proposed structures is simulated by using the finite difference time domain method.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the hydrodynamic properties of a 2D floating body with moon pool using a 2D fully nonlinear Numerical Wave Tank(NWT). This NWT was developed based on the Boundary Element Method(BEM) with potential theory and fully nonlinear free surface boundary conditions. Free surface elevations in the moon pool were calculated in the time domain for various frequencies of forced body motions. The added-mass and damping coefficients of the heaving body were also obtained. The present numerical results were compared with the analytic and experimental results and their accuracy was verified.
