A New Calculation Method for the Radiation Impedance of Transducer with Regular Square Vibrating Surface

  • Although the radiation impedance of a transducer with a regular square surface has been studied by many researchers, the formulas are still very complicated, which results in long computation time and low accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for the calculation of acoustic radiation impedance in which the regular square vibrating surface of a transducer is divided into small elements and duplicate calculations are eliminated in the process of calculating mutual effects of the elements. Using this algorithm, shorter computation time and higher accuracy of results can be obtained. As a demonstration, the self and the mutual radiation impedance of transducers with a regular square surface are calculated and the accuracy of the results is evaluated.

Investigation on Trend Removal in Time Domain Analysis of Electrochemical Noise Data Using Polynomial Fitting and Moving Average Removal Methods

  • Electrochemical noise signals in many cases exhibit a DC drift that should be removed prior to further data analysis. Polynomial fitting and moving average removal method have been used to remove trends of electrochemical noise (EN) in time domain. The corrosion inhibition of synthesized schiff base N,N'-bis(3,5-dihydroxyacetophenone)-2,2-dimethylpropandiimine on API-5L-X70 steel in hydrochloric acid solutions were used to study the effects of drifts removal methods on noise resistance calculation. Also, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to study the corrosion inhibition property of the inhibitor. The results showed that for the calculation of $R_n$, both methods were effective in trend removal and the polynomial with m=4 and MAR with p=40 were in agreement.

디젤분무의 모델에서 액적의 형상 및 수밀도의 영향에 관한 연구 (The Effects of Initial Droplet Shape and Number Density on Modeling of Non-evaporating Diesel Sprays)

  • A number of droplet breakup models have been developed to predict the diesel spray. The capabilities of droplet deformation and breakup models such as TAB, ETAB, DDB and APTAB models are evaluated in modeling the non-evaporating diesel sprays injected into atmosphere. New methods are also suggested that take into account the non- spherical shape of droplets and the reduced drag force by the presence of neighbouring droplets. The KIVA calculations with standard ETAB, DDB, and APTAB models predict well the spray tip penetrations of the experiment, but overestimate the Sauter mean Diameter(SMD) of droplets. The calculation with non spherical droplets injected from the nozzle shows very similar results to the calculation with spherical droplets. The drag coefficient which is linearly increased with the time after start of injection during the breakup time gives the smaller SMD that agrees well with the experimental result.

A proposed set of popular limit-point buckling benchmark problems

  • Developers of new finite elements or nonlinear solution techniques rely on discriminative benchmark tests drawn from the literature to assess the advantages and drawbacks of new formulations. Buckling benchmark tests provide a rigorous evaluation of finite elements applied to thin structures, and a complete and detailed set of reference results would therefore prove very useful in carrying out such evaluations. Results are usually presented in the form of load-deflection curves that developers must reconstruct by extracting the points, a procedure which is often tedious and inaccurate. Moreover the curves are usually given without accompanying information such as the calculation time or number of iterations it took for the model to converge, even though this type of data is equally important in practice. This paper presents ten different limit-point buckling benchmark tests, and provides for each one the reference load-deflection curve, all the points necessary to recreate the curve in tabulated form, analysis data such as calculation time, number of iterations and increments, and all of the inputs used to obtain these results.

  • One of the current challenges in the domain of the multicriteria shape optimization is to reduce the calculation time required by conventional methods. The high computational cost is due to the high number of simulation or function calls required by these methods. Recently, several studies have been led to overcome this problem by integrating a metamodel in the overall optimization loop. In this paper, we perform a coupling between the Normal Boundary Intersection - NBI - algorithm with Radial Basis Function - RBF - metamodel in order to have a simple tool with a reasonable calculation time to solve multicriteria optimization problems. First, we apply our approach to academic test cases. Then, we validate our method against an industrial case, namely, shape optimization of the bottom of an aerosol can undergoing nonlinear elasto-plastic deformation. Then, in order to select solutions among the Pareto efficient ones, we use the same surrogate approach to implement a method to compute Nash and Kalai-Smorodinsky equilibria.

Software-based Real-time GNSS Signal Generation and Processing Using a Graphic Processing Unit (GPU)

  • A graphic processing unit (GPU) can perform the same calculation on multiple data (SIMD: single instruction multiple data) using hundreds of to thousands of special purpose processors for graphic processing. Thus, high efficiency is expected when GPU is used for the generation and correlation of satellite navigation signals, which perform generation and processing by applying the same calculation procedure to tens of millions of discrete signal samples per second. In this study, the structure of a GPU-based GNSS simulator for the generation and processing of satellite navigation signals was designed, developed, and verified. To verify the developed satellite navigation signal generator, generated signals were applied to the OEM-V3 receiver of Novatel Inc., and the measured values were examined. To verify the satellite navigation signal processor, the performance was examined by collecting and processing actual GNSS intermediate frequency signals. The results of the verification indicated that satellite navigation signals could be generated and processed in real time using two GPUs.

자동부품검사를 위한 웨이블렛 변환 기반 영상정합 (Wavelet Transform Based Image Template Matching for Automatic Component Inspection)

  • We propose a template matching method for component inspection of SMD assembly system. To discriminate wrong assembled components, the input image of component is matched with its standard image by template matching algorithm. For a fast inspection system, the calculation time of matching algorithm should be reduced. Since the standard images of all components located in a PCB are stored in computer, it is desirable to reduce the memory size of standard image. We apply the discrete wavelet transformation to reduce the image size as well as the calculation time. Only 7% memory of the BMP image is used to discriminate goodness or badness of components assembly. Comparative results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • 광자 크리스탈의 광자 밴드갭이나 비정상적인 광 분산 현상 등의 특성을 분석하려면 광자 크리스탈 구조에 따른 밴드 구 조와 분산 곡선의 계산이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 시간 영역에서의 계산 방법인 Finite-Difference Time-Domain방법과 주기적 경계 조건을 이용하여 밴드 구조와 분산 곡선을 계산하였으며, 몇 가지 간단한 2차원 크리스탈 구조에 대하여 그 계산 결과를 제시하였다. 또한 밴드갭 내부에 존재하고, 공간적으로 지역화된 디펙트 모드를 계산하였다.

  • 본 연구는 움직이는 물체의 컴퓨터 합성 홀로그래피(CGH)의 동영상 디스프레이를 액정형 공간광변조기(OASLM)에 의하여 시도하였다. CGH는 계산하는 시간을 줄이기 위해서 horizontal parallex 방법을 사용하였고, 또한 계산하는데 시간이 오래 걸리는 삼각함수 계산과 자승근 계산부분을 미리 lookup table로 만들어 놓음으로써 계산속도를 향상시키고 저해상도 SLM에 맞춰 lookup table을 적용시키는 방법을 개발하였다. 그리고 이미 성공한 정지영상을 연속 디스프레이하여 동영상으로 표현하였고 스캐너를 이용하여 3개의 동영상을 분리하여 동시에 디스프레이하는 데 성공하였다.

A fast approximate fitting for mixture of multivariate skew t-distribution via EM algorithm

  • A mixture of multivariate canonical fundamental skew t-distribution (CFUST) has been of interest in various fields. In particular, interest in the unsupervised learning society is noteworthy. However, fitting the model via EM algorithm suffers from significant processing time. The main cause is due to the calculation of many multivariate t-cdfs (cumulative distribution functions) in E-step. In this article, we provide an approximate, but fast calculation method for the in univariate fashion, which is the product of successively conditional univariate t-cdfs with Taylor's first order approximation. By replacing all multivariate t-cdfs in E-step with the proposed approximate versions, we obtain the admissible results of fitting the model, where it gives 85% reduction time for the 5 dimensional skewness case of the Australian Institution Sport data set. For this approach, discussions about rough properties, advantages and limits are also presented.
