In recent years, efficient energy management technologies are required, as environmental problems have emerged worldwide. In response to this, smart home services focused on efficient energy management technology seems to be emerging. And the integration of technology of user-oriented real-time energy monitoring and control systems is required. In this paper, we present a location-based green home service using smart phones for efficient energy management in a house. We design a green home network system to apply the green home service, and implement an integrated gateway system which connects and controls each appliance in a house. We develop appliance control services and indoor location services on smart phones, and determine whether user's occupancy of each room by measuring the location according to the variation of signal strength. In order to evaluate the performance of the energy savings, we have set up the scenarios of energy usage pattern and have compared the energy variation resulting from the application of the indoor location services with smart meters. A comparison of energy usage demonstrated that the energy saving of a house with the proposed location-based green home service was down up to 30%.
A Critical issue in the performance of a video-on-demand system is the required I/O bandwidth of the Video server in order to satisfy clients requests, and it is the crucial resource that may cause delay increasingly. Several approaches such as batching and piggybacking are used to reduce the I/O demand on the video server through sharing. Bathing approach is to make single I/O request for storage server by grouping the requests for the same object. Piggybacking is th policy for altering display rates of requests in progress for the same object to merge their corresponding I/O streams into a single stream, and serve it as a group of merged requests. In this paper, we propose a reservation-based hybrid disk bandwidth reduction policy that dynamically reserves the I/O stream capacity of a video server for popular videos according to the loads of video server in order to schedule the requests for popular videos immediately. The performance of the proposed policy is evaluated through simulations, and is compared with that of bathing and piggybacking. As a result, we know that the reservation-based hybrid disk bandwidth reduction policy provides better probability of service, average waithing time and percentage of saving in frames than batching and piggybacking policy.

The eyes, the saying goes, are the windows of the soul. It's the first thing you notice about a person. Therefore, many people want to possess beautiful eyelids. Surgical formation of a palpebral fold and sulcus divides the lid into two well-defined segments (palpebral and pretarsal), producing the double eyelid desired by many Oriental women as well as an increasing number of man recently. Upper lid blepharoplasty is the Oriental eye is one of the variations of standard upper lid blepharoplasty. In Oriental double eyelid surgery, there have been two approaches to form a superior palpebral fold: the buried suture(nonincision) method and the full external incision method. Conventionally, the nonincision technique has been shown to produce little postoperative edema. However, the probability of the fold disappearing is high, and this technique cannot be performed in patients with fatty eyelids. Conversely, the incision technique has contrary characteristics. Recently, partial incision(or semi-open) technique which is combination of mentioned methods is used, this technique is removal of pretarsal tissue, muscle, and/or orbital fat around 2 or 3 incision site to facilitate tarsus-dermal adhesion. Our method is on the basis of this technique, furthermore, compared with conventional semi-open method, Y(Yang's) needle assisted double eyelid operation is more easy, convenient, saving-time method and provide satisfactory results.
Waste lubricating oil(WLO)s have been recycled as energy source through direct fuel in cement kilns and fossil power plants, or as fuel oils, or re-refined lubricating base oils. In our country, they have been recycled as low grade fuel oil through chemical treatment process. In 2003, extended producer responsibility (EPR) system was adopted from deposit system on sale of lubricating oils in order to promote their recycleing rate. However, our recycling rate of WLOs have been stagnant(below 70%) for last 5 years. And there has been no research work on recycling of WLOs as re-refined base oil until now in this country. Stabilization technology of thermally cracked oils to reduce tar and malodor and to improve their color for production of high grade fuel oil, and a novel process production of high grade re-refined lubricating base oil from WLOs have been developed and commercialized recently in Canada and U.S.A., respectively. Several countries like Australia, Italy, Germany and U.S.A., etc. are encouraging recycling companies to recycle WLOs as re-refined lubricating oil by giving greater subsidies or benefits compared to other recycling methods. They also adopt a policy to purchase re-refined lubricating oil preferentially in the federal or local governments and to recommend consumers to purchase it willingly. Based on the facts that several advanced countries have adopted a policy to recycle WLOs as re-refined base oil for saving of petroleum resource and reduction of environmental pollution, it is right time to be considered that our present policy for recycling of WLOs should be reevaluated and the new policy of their environmental-friendly and sustainable recycling should be established.

Crack, craze and void are common defects which may be found in the bulk of polymeric materials such as either themoplastics or thermosets. The healing phenomena, autohesion, of these defects are known to be a intrinsic material property of various polymeric materials. However, only a few experimental and theoretical investigations on crack, void and craze healing phenomena for various polymeric materials have been reported up to date [1, 2, 3]. This may be partly due to the complications of healing processes and lacking of appropriate theoretical developments. Recently, some investigators have been urged to study the healing phenomena of various polymenic materials since the significance of the use of polymer based alloys or composites has been raised in terms of specific strength and energy saving. In the earlier published reports [1, 2, 3, 4], the crack and void healing velocity, healing toughness and some other healing mechanical and physical properties were measured experimentally and compared with predicted values by utilizing a simple model such as the reptation model under some resonable assumptions. It seems, however, that the general acceptance of the proposed modeling analyses is yet open question. The crack healing processes seem to be complicate and highly dependent on the state of virgin material in terms of mechanical and physical properties. Furthermore, it is also strongly dependent on the histories of crack, craze and void development including fracture suface morphology, the shape of void and the degree of disentanglement of fibril in the craze. The rate of crack healing may be a function of environmental factors such as healing temperature, time and pressure which gives different contact configurations between two separated surfaces. It seems to be reasonable to assume that the crack healing processes may be divided in several distinguished steps like stress relaxation with molecular chain arrangement, surface contact (wetting), inter- diffusion process and com;oete healing (to obtain the original strength). In this context, it is likely that we no longer have to accept the limitation of cumulative damage theories and fatigue life if it is probable to remove the defects such as crack, craze and void and to restore the original strength of polymers or polymer based compowites by suitable choice of healing histories and methods. In this paper, we wish to present a very simple and intuitive theoretical model for the prediction of healed fracture toughness of cracked or defective polymeric components. The central idea of this investigation, thus, may be the modeling of behavior of chain molecules under healing conditions including the effects of chain scission on the healing processes. The validity of this proposed model will be studied by making comparisons between theoretically predicted values and experimentally determined results in near future and will be reported elsewhere.
Recently just as in the automobile industry, shipbuilders also try to reduce material consumption and weight in order to keep operating costs as low as possible and improve the speed of production. Naturally industry is ever searching for welding techniques offering higher power, higher productivity and a better quality. Therefore it is important to have a details research based on the various welding process applied to steel and other materials, and to have the ability both to counsel interested companies and to evaluate the feasibility of implementation of this process. Submerged-arc welding (SAW) process is usually used about 20% of shipbuilding. Similar to gas metal arc welding(GMAW), SAW involves formation of an arc between a continuously-fed bare wire electrode and the work-piece. The process uses a flux to generate protective gases and slag, and to add alloying elements to the weld pool and a shielding gas is not required. Prior to welding, a thin layer of flux powder is placed on the work-piece surface. The arc moves along the joint line and as it does so, excess flux is recycled via a hopper. Remaining fused slag layers can be easily removed after welding. As the arc is completely covered by the flux layer, heat loss is extremely low. This produces a thermal efficiency as high as 60% (compared with 25% for manual metal arc). SAW process offers many advantages compared to conventional CO2 welding process. The main advantages of SAW are higher welding speed, facility of workers, less deformation and better than bead shape & strength of welded joint because there is no visible arc light, welding is spatter-free, fully-mechanized or automatic process, high travel speed, and depth of penetration and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal. However it is difficult to application of thin plate according to high heat input. So this paper has been focused on application of the field according to SAW process for thin plate in ship-structures. For this purpose, It has been decided to optimized welding condition by experiments, relationship between welding parameters and bead shapes, mechanical test such as tensile and bending. Also finite element(FE) based numerical comparison of thermal history and welding residual stress in A-grade 3.2 thickness steel of SAW been made in this study. From the result of this study, It makes substantial saving of time and manufacturing cost and raises the quality of product.
This study was performed to increase the utilization of rice and improve the productivity of jochung, traditional food in Korea. Two kinds of jochung products were prepared from steamed rice(SR) and wet-milled rice flour(WRF) by rice cultivated from 2006 to 2010. It is common to add a liquefying enzyme for rice liquefaction(4 $m{\ell}$/1,000 g rice, at $90{\sim}95^{\circ}C$, 3 h) and saccharogenic enzyme with malt(45 g/1,000 g rice, at $55{\sim}57^{\circ}C$, 6 h). In order to evaluate the quality characteristics of jochung, producing rate, pH, solidity, reducing sugar, dextrose equivalence(D.E.), viscosity, total phenolic compound, color value and sensory evaluation were carried out. In terms of the producing rate of jochung, WRF jochung was produced about 7.4% much more than SR jochung. There was no difference in producing rate between the jochung cultivated from 2006 to 2010 rice. The pH varied from 4.86~5.66, solidity was 79.48~82.28%. Color L value was 25.82~27.92, a value of 1.28~2.81, b value were 2.98~4.33. The results of sensory evaluation for jochung, as a whole, received higher score than for the commercial product(Daesang Co., Ltd, Seoul, Korea), overall acceptability score was the highest in the 2008SR. Reducing sugar, dextrose equivalence(D.E.) and total phenolic compounds were determined to be higher WRF jochung than SR jochung, while viscosity was lower WRF jochung than SR jochung. These results are thought to be due to increased surface area of rice by milling. SR jochung manufacturd by wet-milled rice flour will increase the producing rate for jochung, thereby saving manufacturing time and costs.

In this paper, a high performance pipelined computing design of parallel multiplier-temporal buffer-parallel accumulator is present for the convolution-based non-cascaded architecture aiming at the real time Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) processing. The convolved multiplication of DWT would be reduced upto 1/4 by utilizing the filter coefficients symmetry and the up/down sampling; and it could be dealt with 3-5 times faster computation by LUT-based DA multiplication of multiple filter coefficients parallelized for product terms with an image data. Further, the reutilization of computed product terms could be achieved by storing in the temporal buffer, which yields the saving of computation as well as dynamic power by 50%. The convolved product terms of image data and filter coefficients are realigned and stored in the temporal buffer for the accumulated addition. Then, the buffer management of parallel aligned storage is carried out for the high speed sequential retrieval of parallel accumulations. The convolved computation is pipelined with parallel multiplier-temporal buffer-parallel accumulation in which the parallelization of temporal buffer and accumulator is optimize, with respect to the performance of parallel DA multiplier, to improve the pipelining performance. The proposed architecture is back-end designed with 0.18um library, which verifies the 30fps throughput of SVGA(800$\times$600) images at 90MHz.

A 3D map provides useful information for intelligent services. Traditional 3D maps, however, consist of a raw image data and are not suitable for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose the Block-based 3D map, that represents three dimensional spaces in a collection of square blocks. The Block_based 3D map has two major variables: an object ratio and a block size. The object ratio is defined as the proportion of object pixels to space pixels in a block and determines the type of the block. The block size is defined as the number of pixels of the side of a block and determines the size of the block. Experiments show the advantage of the Block-based 3D map in reducing noise, and in saving the amount of processing data. With the block size of $40{\times}40$ and the object ratio of 30% to 50% we can get the most matched Block-based 3D map for the $320{\times}240$ depthmap. The Block-based 3D map provides useful information, that can produce a variety of new services with high added value in intelligent environments.
This study aims to clear the relation between perceived risk and user's attitude and behavior toward a food service event. To accomplish this, theoretical reviews and empirical analysis were jointly carried out. For the empirical analysis, a survey was conducted from April 3 to April 6, and total 291 copies of the questionnaire were used for the statistical analysis, SPSS 15.0 and LISREL 8.30. The results of the test of the hypotheses can be summarized as follows: First, the analysis shows that there is significant difference between the perceived risk and attitude of a food service event user. The perceived risk of food service event users causes effect that is contradictory in attitude. As users' perceived risk is less, attitude improved. Second, the analysis of the relationship between user's attitude and behavior intention showed that user's attitude affected behavior intention. Therefore, under these circumstances, there should be more concern in solving perceived risk among food service event users and a special program for promoting satisfaction with an event. And food service event director should make more efforts in nutritive value, organic food, time saving, etc.
